Episode 18 — The Forbidden Prophecy

Kyle’s POV “She was supposed to be your sacrifice.” The words echoed through my mind. Jail. My mate. A sacrifice? No. I stepped forward, placing myself between King Lucian and her. “You’re lying.” Lucian smiled. “Am I?” His eyes moved over me. “You’ve spent your entire life believing you were abandoned.” My claws emerged. “Don’t talk about my parents.” “Why not?” His voice was calm. “Because they lied to you too.” A growl rose from my chest. “Enough.” Lucian lifted his sword. The blade was black. But silver symbols moved across its surface. I recognized one. The same mark on my chest. My blood burned. Jail touched my arm. “Kyle.” I didn’t look away from Lucian. “Why does your sword carry the Leone mark?” Lucian smiled. “Because it belonged to your father.” My heart stopped. “Kael?” “No.” Lucian’s smile disappeared. “To your first father.” Silence. Justin stepped forward. “What does that mean?” Lucian looked at him. “You really don’t know?” Justin’s expression hardened. “Tell me.” Lucian pointed toward me. “Your brother isn’t merely the last Leone.” He lowered the sword. “He is the reincarnation of the first Leone King.” The courtyard went silent. My head spun. “No.” Elena shook her head. “That’s impossible.” Lucian laughed. “Is it?” He looked at me. “Why do you think the ancient Guardian bowed?” My chest tightened. “Why do you think the House of First Blood opened for you?” He stepped closer. “Why do you think the Shadow King fears you?” I didn’t answer. Because somewhere inside me… I already knew. A memory flashed. A throne. A crown. A woman beside me. Fire. Blood. And a voice. You betrayed me. I staggered. Jail caught me. “Kyle!” I grabbed my head. “No…” Lucian watched. “Remember.” Another memory. A man kneeling before me. An army. Thousands of wolves. Then the Shadow Gate. A hand reaching through. The Shadow King. And my own voice saying: I can control him. I gasped. “I opened the gate.” Elena covered her mouth. “No.” Lucian smiled. “Now you remember.” Jail shook her head. “That wasn’t Kyle.” Lucian looked at her. “You’re right.” He pointed at me. “It was the first Leone King.” The memory disappeared. I dropped to one knee. Jail knelt beside me. “Look at me.” I looked at her. “You’re here.” “Yes.” “I’m Kyle.” “Yes.” “I’m not him.” Jail took my face in her hands. “You are Kyle.” Her voice was steady. “Whatever blood lives inside you, you choose who you become.” The words broke through the darkness. My breathing slowed. Lucian’s smile faded. “You’ve already bonded.” Jail stood. “Yes.” “That bond will destroy you.” “No.” Her Alpha aura exploded. “It will make us stronger.” Lucian laughed. “Then perhaps I should show you what your precious bond truly means.” He raised his hand. The entire courtyard turned black. Jail screamed. “Kyle!” I reached for her. But she disappeared. “JAIL!” My roar shook the castle. I ran forward. Nothing. She was gone. My heart shattered. “Where is she?” Lucian stood alone. “You wanted the truth.” He raised his sword. “Now come and take it.” I attacked. ⸻ Jail’s POV Darkness. That was all I could see. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. My body felt frozen. “Kyle?” No answer. Then I heard footsteps. Slow. Heavy. A woman appeared. She wore an ancient silver crown. Her eyes were filled with sadness. “You’re Jail.” I raised my weapon. “Who are you?” “The first Alpha.” My blood went cold. “The woman from the vision?” She nodded. “I was his mate.” “Whose?” “The first Leone King.” I stared at her. “What happened?” She looked away. “He betrayed me.” “Why?” “Because he wanted power.” The darkness around us changed. I saw the ancient kingdom. The Leone King stood before the Shadow Gate. The first Alpha stood behind him. “Don’t open it,” she begged. But he did. Shadow poured into the world. The kingdom burned. Wolves screamed. The Alpha woman attacked him. He didn’t fight back. He simply whispered: “I’m sorry.” The vision shattered. I stared at her. “You killed him.” “No.” She shook her head. “I loved him.” “Then what happened?” “He sacrificed himself to seal the Gate.” I frowned. “Then why does Lucian say Kyle must sacrifice me?” The woman looked directly into my eyes. “Because Lucian is repeating the lie.” My heart stopped. “What lie?” She stepped closer. “The prophecy was changed.” “Changed by who?” “The King of Solaria.” Lucian. I understood. “The original prophecy never said the Alpha had to die.” She shook her head. “It said the opposite.” “What?” She whispered: “When Alpha and Leone unite by choice, neither shall be sacrificed.” My breath caught. “Then what happens?” “Their bond becomes the key that seals the Shadow Gate.” I stared at her. “Then why does the Shadow King want me?” “Because he cannot enter this world fully while you remain bonded to Kyle.” I suddenly understood. “He wants to break us.” “Yes.” The woman stepped closer. “And there is only one way he can do it.” “How?” She touched my forehead. “Make Kyle believe you betrayed him.” The world went black. ⸻ Kyle’s POV I hit the ground. Hard. Lucian stood over me. “You’re strong.” I pushed myself up. “Where is Jail?” “Safe.” “Bring her back.” “No.” My eyes turned gold. “I’ll find her myself.” Lucian smiled. “You can’t.” My shadow exploded. The Guardian wolf emerged behind me. Lucian’s expression changed. “There you are.” The wolf roared. I attacked. Our powers collided. The impact shattered the courtyard stones. Lucian blocked my claws with his sword. “You have your father’s strength.” I pushed harder. “And your mother’s blood.” My eyes flashed. “And something else.” Lucian suddenly stepped back. Fear appeared in his eyes. “What?” I felt the ancient power rising. Something beyond the Leone. Something I had never used. A crown of silver light appeared above my head. The Guardian bowed. Every wolf in Silvermoon dropped to the ground. Lucian whispered, “The King.” I looked at him. “No.” The crown dissolved. “I am Kyle.” I attacked again. Lucian was thrown across the courtyard. He crashed through the castle wall. I ran toward the opening. Then I heard Jail. “Kyle!” I stopped. She stood at the end of the corridor. Blood covered her cheek. But she was alive. I ran to her. “Jail!” She grabbed me. “I knew you’d find me.” I held her tightly. “What did he do?” “Nothing.” She looked into my eyes. “He tried to make me believe you would betray me.” I froze. “And?” She smiled. “I never believed him.” Our bond exploded. Silver and gold light surrounded us. Lucian appeared behind us. His face twisted with anger. “No.” The bond became brighter. The ancient markings on our hands connected. A symbol appeared between us. A crown. A crescent. And a wolf. Elena stared from across the courtyard. “The forbidden bond…” Justin looked at her. “What does it mean?” Elena’s eyes filled with tears. “It means the prophecy has changed.” I looked at Jail. “What prophecy?” Elena stepped forward. “The one the Council erased.” Lucian suddenly screamed. “NO!” The sky turned black. A voice thundered across Solaria. “THE ALPHA AND THE LEONE HAVE UNITED.” Every wolf in the kingdom heard it. Then the voice continued. “THE SHADOW GATE WILL OPEN.” The ground split beneath us. A black c***k tore through the earth. Something enormous moved beneath it. Lucian looked toward the c***k. His smile returned. “Too late.” Jail tightened her grip on my hand. “What is that?” I stared into the darkness. Two red eyes opened below. The Shadow King. But this time… he wasn’t trapped behind the Gate. His hand reached through. Then another. And slowly… he began climbing into our world. The Shadow King looked directly at me. “Finally.” His smile widened. “My King.” I froze. Jail looked at me. “What did he call you?” I couldn’t answer. Because deep inside my blood… something answered him. Bow. I refused. The Shadow King laughed. “Good.” The ground exploded.
