Episode 1 — The Alpha Without a Mate
The moon hung above Solaria like a silver crown.
Its light spilled between the ancient trees of the Silvermoon Forest, turning the mist into ribbons of white and making the shadows beneath the branches seem alive.
Somewhere deep within that forest, a wolf howled.
The sound rolled across the mountains.
Then another wolf answered.
And another.
The entire forest seemed to hold its breath.
But inside the towering stone castle overlooking the Silvermoon territory, Alpha Jail stood alone before a massive window.
She was twenty-six years old.
And she had everything an Alpha could possibly want.
Power.
Respect.
A territory larger than most kingdoms.
Hundreds of wolves who would willingly die for her.
Yet there was one thing she didn’t have.
A mate.
Jail slowly lifted her eyes toward the moon.
“Still nothing.”
Behind her, the doors opened.
She didn’t turn.
“I told everyone I didn’t want to be disturbed.”
A familiar voice answered.
“And I told you that hiding in your room won’t make your problems disappear.”
Jail sighed.
“Mother.”
Her mother, Lady Seraphina, stepped into the room.
She was one of the few people in Silvermoon who wasn’t intimidated by Jail.
Seraphina crossed her arms.
“Your twenty-sixth birthday passed three months ago.”
“I know.”
“Your father wants an heir.”
“I know.”
“The council is becoming impatient.”
“I know.”
Seraphina narrowed her eyes.
“Then perhaps you should stop saying you know and actually do something.”
Jail finally turned.
Her silver eyes were cold.
“I will not choose a mate because the council wants me to.”
“No one said you should.”
“You are.”
“I’m saying you need to think about the future.”
“The future will take care of itself.”
Seraphina stared at her daughter.
“You still believe the prophecy.”
Jail’s expression changed.
Only slightly.
But Seraphina noticed.
“The Moon Goddess chooses our mates,” Jail said quietly.
Seraphina shook her head.
“The Moon Goddess hasn’t chosen anyone for you.”
“You don’t know that.”
“You’ve waited twenty-six years.”
“And I will wait twenty-six more if I have to.”
Silence filled the room.
Finally, Seraphina sighed.
“Your father is considering another solution.”
Jail’s eyes hardened.
“What solution?”
“A political bond.”
“No.”
“You haven’t even heard—”
“No.”
“Jail.”
“I said no.”
Her Alpha command slipped into the room.
The candles flickered.
Seraphina stopped speaking.
For several seconds, mother and daughter stared at each other.
Then Seraphina lowered her voice.
“You cannot rule forever.”
Jail looked away.
“I don’t need forever.”
She stared at the moon.
“I only need the one person the Moon Goddess promised me.”
Seraphina followed her gaze.
“And if that person doesn’t exist?”
Jail’s jaw tightened.
“Then I’ll rule alone.”
⸻
Far beyond the castle walls, another life was beginning to change.
A young man ran through the forest.
Bare feet struck the cold earth.
Branches tore at his arms.
His breathing was uneven.
He didn’t stop.
He couldn’t.
Behind him came the sound of wolves.
Three.
Maybe four.
He didn’t look back.
“Come on…”
His voice shook.
“Just keep moving.”
His name was Kyle.
He was eighteen years old.
And he had spent most of his life alone.
No pack.
No family.
No home.
Just the forest.
The wolves behind him growled.
Kyle pushed harder.
His lungs burned.
His legs felt like they were about to collapse.
Then his foot caught on a root.
He fell.
Pain exploded through his shoulder.
Kyle rolled onto his back.
The wolves emerged from the darkness.
One stepped forward.
Kyle stared at them.
“Please.”
The largest wolf growled.
Kyle slowly backed away.
“I don’t want trouble.”
The wolf lunged.
Kyle raised his arm.
A deafening howl suddenly exploded through the forest.
The attacking wolf was thrown sideways as if an invisible force had struck it.
Kyle froze.
The other wolves froze too.
A strange silence descended.
Kyle looked around.
“What…”
His heart began pounding.
Something was coming.
He could feel it.
A presence.
Powerful.
Ancient.
Then she appeared.
A woman stepped between the trees.
Tall.
Elegant.
Terrifying.
Her dark hair moved with the night wind.
Her silver eyes glowed beneath the moonlight.
Every wolf in the clearing immediately lowered its head.
Kyle stared at her.
He didn’t understand why.
But his instincts did.
The woman looked directly at him.
And suddenly her entire body went still.
Her wolf spoke inside her mind.
Mate.
Jail’s breath caught.
No.
The word echoed through her mind.
Mate.
For twenty-six years, she had waited.
Twenty-six years of silence.
Twenty-six years of wondering whether the Moon Goddess had forgotten her.
And now—
Her mate was standing directly in front of her.
Jail took one step forward.
Kyle immediately stepped back.
“Stay away.”
Jail stopped.
She studied him.
He was young.
Far too young.
His clothes were torn.
There were scratches across his face.
His dark hair fell messily over his forehead.
But there was something strange about his eyes.
They weren’t the eyes of an ordinary Lonewolf.
They reflected the moonlight strangely.
Jail whispered,
“What is your name?”
Kyle hesitated.
“Kyle.”
“Who is your Alpha?”
Kyle gave a bitter laugh.
“I don’t have one.”
Jail frowned.
“What pack do you belong to?”
“None.”
“You are a Lonewolf?”
Kyle nodded.
“Always have been.”
Jail’s wolf growled inside her.
Leone.
Jail’s expression changed.
“What did you say?”
Kyle frowned.
“I didn’t say anything.”
“No.”
She stared at him.
“My wolf…”
Kyle’s eyes narrowed.
“What about your wolf?”
Jail took another step toward him.
“My wolf called you something.”
Kyle looked uncomfortable.
“What?”
Jail couldn’t explain why she suddenly felt afraid.
She had faced enemy Alphas.
She had fought rogue armies.
She had stood on battlefields surrounded by hundreds of enemies.
But standing in front of this eighteen-year-old boy frightened her more than any war ever had.
She whispered:
“Leone.”
Kyle’s face went completely pale.
The moment the word left Jail’s lips, something inside Kyle awakened.
His heart slammed against his ribs.
A voice whispered inside his mind.
Run.
Kyle grabbed his chest.
“Stop.”
Jail frowned.
“What?”
“I don’t know what’s happening.”
Kyle stumbled backward.
The forest began spinning.
His heartbeat became louder.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Then something flashed through his mind.
A woman.
A burning house.
A newborn baby.
A wolf covered in blood.
A man screaming:
“Take him and run!”
Kyle gasped.
He dropped to his knees.
Jail rushed toward him.
“Kyle!”
“Don’t touch me!”
The force in his voice surprised both of them.
The wolves surrounding them backed away.
Jail stopped.
Kyle looked up at her.
His eyes had changed.
For one brief moment, they were glowing gold.
Jail’s heart stopped.
That wasn’t normal.
Not even for a Lonewolf.
“What are you?” she whispered.
Kyle shook his head.
“I don’t know.”
Jail stared at him.
Her wolf was becoming increasingly restless.
Mate.
She closed her eyes.
“Why you?”
Kyle heard her.
“What?”
Jail opened her eyes.
She realized she had spoken aloud.
“Nothing.”
Kyle slowly stood.
“I’m leaving.”
Jail stepped forward.
“No.”
Kyle’s eyes hardened.
“You don’t own me.”
“I never said I did.”
“Then let me go.”
Jail stared at him.
She wanted to command him.
Every instinct inside her screamed that he belonged beside her.
But something stopped her.
His fear.
His loneliness.
The way he stood like someone who had learned long ago that trusting people was dangerous.
So Jail lowered her voice.
“I won’t force you.”
Kyle looked surprised.
“You won’t?”
“No.”
“Even though you’re an Alpha?”
“Especially because I am.”
For a moment, neither spoke.
The wind moved between them.
Then Kyle looked at the castle lights glowing beyond the trees.
“Why did you come here?”
Jail answered honestly.
“I was searching for something.”
“What?”
She looked directly into his eyes.
“My mate.”
Kyle’s expression froze.
The words seemed to echo through the forest.
Then he laughed nervously.
“No.”
Jail said nothing.
Kyle shook his head.
“You’re mistaken.”
“I’m not.”
“You don’t even know me.”
“I know enough.”
“You can’t.”
“Why?”
“Because…”
Kyle’s voice cracked.
“Because nobody has ever chosen me.”
Jail’s expression softened.
“Maybe you were never meant to be chosen by them.”
Kyle stared at her.
“Maybe you were meant to be found.”
Something inside Kyle’s chest tightened.
For the first time in years, he didn’t feel completely alone.
And that frightened him more than anything.
Suddenly—
A howl exploded from the northern forest.
Jail’s entire expression changed.
She turned toward the sound.
Kyle saw the transformation immediately.
The softness disappeared.
The Alpha returned.
“Stay behind me.”
Kyle frowned.
“What?”
“Now.”
Another howl.
Closer.
Jail’s eyes flashed silver.
“Someone is inside my territory.”
Kyle looked into the darkness.
“Who?”
Jail didn’t answer.
Her wolf was growling.
Then a third howl echoed.
This one wasn’t from a wolf.
It was a warning.
Jail slowly reached for the weapon at her side.
Kyle watched her.
“What is happening?”
Jail looked at him.
“Something has followed you.”
Kyle’s blood ran cold.
“What?”
Jail stepped between him and the darkness.
“I don’t think those wolves were chasing you because they wanted to kill you.”
Kyle swallowed.
“Then why?”
Jail stared into the trees.
“Because they were tracking you.”
A branch snapped.
Both of them turned.
Two glowing red eyes appeared between the trees.
Then another pair.
And another.
Kyle stepped backward.
Jail’s voice became dangerously calm.
“Kyle.”
“Yes?”
“Whatever happens…”
She glanced at him.
“Do not run.”
The darkness moved.
A low growl rolled across the forest.
Jail’s wolf rose inside her.
Protect him.
Kyle’s heart began racing.
And somewhere beneath his fear, something ancient answered.
Awaken.
The moon above them suddenly turned blood red.
Jail looked up.
Her face went pale.
“No…”
Kyle looked at her.
“What?”
Jail whispered the words she had spent her entire life hearing in old stories.
“The Blood Moon.”
The forest erupted with howls.
And for the first time in centuries—
the ancient Leone bloodline had awakened.
