Kyle’s POV
“My father is alive?”
The words barely left my mouth.
The woman nodded.
“Yes.”
My heart hammered against my ribs.
After eighteen years of believing I had no family, I had discovered Justin.
My mother.
And now—
my father.
Alive.
Somewhere beyond the Shadow Gate.
I stepped toward her.
“Where is he?”
Before she could answer, the library doors exploded inward.
“SEIZE THEM!”
The Council warriors stormed inside.
Jail immediately moved in front of me.
“Stay behind me.”
I shook my head.
“No.”
“Kyle.”
“I need answers.”
The Council elder raised his weapon.
“You will receive nothing.”
My eyes flashed gold.
“You’ve lied to me my entire life.”
His expression hardened.
“We protected Solaria.”
“You destroyed my family.”
“We prevented another war.”
Justin stepped forward.
“You hunted innocent Leonewolves.”
The elder’s gaze shifted toward him.
“You were spared.”
Justin laughed bitterly.
“Spared?”
His golden eyes burned.
“You separated me from my brother.”
The elder raised his hand.
“Enough.”
The warriors charged.
Jail transformed.
Her silver wolf slammed into the first warrior.
Justin shifted beside her.
I felt the Leone blood rise inside me.
But this time—
I didn’t lose control.
I breathed.
The ancient voice inside me whispered.
Remember.
Gold spread across my arms.
I raised my hand.
Every warrior stopped.
Their bodies froze.
Weapons fell from their hands.
Jail stared at me.
“You controlled them.”
I looked at my own hands.
“I didn’t force them.”
Justin’s eyes widened.
“You connected to their instincts.”
I could feel their fear.
Their hesitation.
Their confusion.
I lowered my hand.
“Leave.”
The warriors turned around.
They walked away.
The Council elder stared at me in disbelief.
“You’re learning.”
I looked directly at him.
“And you’re running out of lies.”
The elder suddenly smiled.
“You think your father is waiting for you?”
I froze.
“What?”
He laughed.
“Ask the woman standing behind you.”
I turned.
The woman was gone.
My stomach dropped.
“Where did she go?”
Jail looked around.
“She was here.”
Justin suddenly shouted,
“WAIT!”
He ran toward the stone table.
The silver box containing my father’s letter was gone.
Justin picked up the empty table.
“She took it.”
I stared at the doorway.
“Why?”
The Council elder smiled.
“Because she isn’t your mother.”
My blood went cold.
Jail stepped forward.
“Then who is she?”
The elder didn’t answer.
Justin suddenly looked toward the library’s map.
“Something’s wrong.”
We all turned.
The map of Solaria was changing.
A black line was moving across the territory.
Toward Silvermoon.
Justin whispered,
“They’ve opened the eastern gate.”
Jail’s expression changed.
“Who?”
Justin looked at the Council.
“Someone inside the pack.”
Silence.
I understood immediately.
“There’s a traitor.”
The elder smiled.
“You finally understand.”
Jail’s eyes narrowed.
“Who?”
The elder looked at her.
“You should ask your own warriors.”
Jail’s face hardened.
“My warriors are loyal.”
“Are they?”
The library shook.
A massive explosion came from above.
Dust fell from the ceiling.
Then a Silvermoon warrior came running down the stairs.
“Alpha!”
Jail turned.
“What happened?”
“The eastern gate has fallen!”
Jail’s face went pale.
“How?”
The warrior looked toward the Council.
“We don’t know.”
Justin stepped closer.
“Who had access to the gate?”
The warrior hesitated.
Jail’s voice became dangerous.
“Answer him.”
“Only the senior guards.”
“Names.”
The warrior swallowed.
“Captain Rowan.”
Jail froze.
“Rowan?”
Justin looked at me.
“Who is Rowan?”
“My father’s most trusted commander.”
Jail immediately shook her head.
“No.”
The warrior looked confused.
“Alpha?”
“Rowan has served Silvermoon for twenty years.”
Justin’s expression hardened.
“That’s exactly why he would be useful.”
Jail looked at him.
“You think he’s the traitor?”
“I think we should find out.”
We rushed toward the staircase.
The Council followed.
The library suddenly went dark.
Then a voice whispered through the darkness.
“Kyle.”
I stopped.
My father’s voice.
I knew it.
I could feel it.
“Dad?”
A golden light appeared on the wall.
An image formed.
A man.
Tall.
Dark-haired.
Golden eyes.
A scar across his face.
My heart shattered.
“Dad…”
Kael looked directly at me.
“My son.”
I stepped toward him.
“Where are you?”
His image flickered.
“The Shadow Gate.”
“Are you trapped?”
“Yes.”
“Who put you there?”
Kael looked toward the side.
His expression changed.
Fear.
“Do not trust—”
The image disappeared.
I shouted,
“Dad!”
Silence.
Jail touched my shoulder.
“He was trying to warn you.”
Justin stared at the empty wall.
“About someone.”
I nodded.
“Someone here.”
Suddenly—
the library doors slammed shut.
A deep voice came from behind us.
“You should have listened.”
We turned.
Captain Rowan stood at the entrance.
His sword was covered in blood.
Jail’s eyes widened.
“Rowan.”
He slowly looked at her.
“Forgive me, Alpha.”
Jail stepped forward.
“What have you done?”
Rowan’s eyes turned black.
“I opened the eastern gate.”
Justin shifted.
“Why?”
Rowan smiled.
“Because the Shadow King promised me something.”
My blood ran cold.
“What?”
Rowan looked at me.
“Power.”
Jail’s voice trembled with anger.
“You betrayed Silvermoon.”
“No.”
Rowan raised his sword.
“I betrayed the Alpha.”
His eyes locked onto Jail.
“You were never supposed to find the Leone.”
Jail’s expression hardened.
“You knew?”
“I knew everything.”
He pointed at me.
“I knew where he was.”
My heart stopped.
“You knew about me?”
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t you tell her?”
“Because the Council paid me to keep you hidden.”
Justin growled.
“And now?”
Rowan smiled.
“Now the Shadow King pays more.”
The floor beneath us cracked.
Black smoke erupted through the stones.
Rowan stepped backward.
“It’s time.”
A monstrous roar shook the library.
The Shadow Gate beneath Silvermoon began opening.
Jail grabbed my hand.
“Don’t let go.”
“I won’t.”
Justin moved beside us.
Rowan laughed.
“You still don’t understand.”
He pointed at our joined hands.
“The Shadow King doesn’t want Kyle dead.”
I stared at him.
“Then what does he want?”
Rowan’s smile disappeared.
“He wants Kyle’s bond.”
The black smoke suddenly wrapped around our wrists.
Pain exploded through my body.
Jail screamed.
“KYLE!”
Our silver marks began turning black.
I grabbed her hand tighter.
“No!”
The darkness pulled us toward the cracked floor.
Justin lunged for us.
“Hold on!”
I looked at Jail.
Her eyes were filled with fear.
But she didn’t let go.
Neither did I.
Then a voice came from beneath the earth.
Deep.
Ancient.
Hungry.
“BRING ME THE ALPHA AND THE LEONE.”
The floor shattered.
And Kyle and Jail fell into darkness.
Justin’s scream followed them.
“KYLE!
