The Escape

Kyle POV I have been on my own for as long as I can remember. I’ve never belonged to any pack in my entire life. My parents died when I was twelve, and ever since then I’ve been fighting, surviving, and finding my own purpose along the way. It hasn’t been easy, but as they say, lone wolves love their solitude and independence. Other pack wolves don’t really like independent wolves. We don’t follow rules, and we don’t like being controlled—at least, that’s what I’ve heard. One night, I went hunting in the enchanted forest. That’s when I saw her. A very pretty she-wolf was sneaking up on me. Her silver fur shimmered under the moonlight, and her ember-colored eyes burned with intensity. She exuded an aura of power and leadership. You could tell instantly—this was no ordinary wolf. She was an Alpha. I quickly regained my composure, going on high alert. I hadn’t seen an Alpha in a long time. I’d crossed paths with other lone wolves like me, but never a pack Alpha before. I was both intrigued and bewildered. Then something strange happened. I felt it—a deep connection. A bond that seemed to transcend time and space. My heart raced as an undeniable pull drew me toward her. It was a feeling I had never experienced before. As we stood facing each other in the moonlit clearing, her scent hit me. Raspberry… mixed with apple. It was intoxicating. I couldn’t get enough of it. Mate, my wolf, Leo, growled in my mind. I stared at her. She was beautiful—powerful, commanding, everything I wasn’t. And I knew… if I didn’t leave now, I never would. I’ve been on my own for so long that solitude and independence have become second nature to me. So I nodded slightly to the she-wolf— —and disappeared into the darkness of the enchanted forest. Leo started whining immediately. We need to go back. That’s our mate! “Come on, man,” I muttered under my breath. “She’s an Alpha, for f**k’s sake. And we’re nobody.” She won’t reject us. “Yes, she will. And I’m not going through that kind of pain.” I ran a hand through my hair as I moved through the trees. “And what about our freedom? We don’t even know how to live in a pack. We haven’t had one since our parents died—you should know that, Leo.” I know… but I still want our mate, he said stubbornly. She felt it too. I know she did. I didn’t respond. Instead, I made my way back to my cave and shifted into my human form. Leo started flooding my mind with images—what we should have done, what we could do with her. I groaned. “You perverted wolf,” I muttered, dropping onto the bed. “We’ve never even touched a woman. Where the hell are you getting all this from?” He didn’t answer—just kept pushing the images. She’ll be looking for us. I just know it. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let her look,” I said, rolling my eyes. Selfish, Leo muttered, retreating to the back of my mind
