I must have fallen asleep at some point because when I opened my eyes it was dark outside and my room was filled with shadows. I felt tired like I hadn't really rested at all even though I had been lying down for hours.
I turned over in bed and tried to get comfortable but sleep wouldn't come back. My mind kept replaying everything that happened today with all those whispers and stares from people who thought I didn't belong here.
Finally I drifted off again but this time the dream came fast and hard.
I was standing in a dark room with stone walls and no windows. The air smelled old and damp and I could hear water dripping somewhere but I couldn't see where.
