Diana's POV I clutched the small test in my trembling hands, my heart pounding so loudly I could barely hear the nurse confirming what I already knew. "Congratulations, Luna Diana. You're pregnant." Pregnant. The word echoed in my mind, with so much joy, a child, a gift from the Moon Goddess. Maybe, just maybe, this would change things between us, maybe Alpha Lucas would finally look at me with something other than disgust and hatred. I hurried back to Crescent Moon Pack, my home, or rather, the prison I had been confined to ever since I was mated to Lucas. Being the Alpha’s mate should have made me his Luna, his equal, his partner, but to Lucas, I was nothing more than a burden, a weakling forced on him by fate. As I stepped into our matrimonial bedroom, my joy shattered into a million pieces, the smiles faded immediately with what I saw. There he was, my mate, my Alpha. And he wasn’t alone. Amelia, my half-sister, was wrapped around him, together making love in my matrimonial bed; the moaning coming from the both of them made my stomach churn. My legs were shaking, and the tiny pregnancy strip in my hand slipped, clattering to the floor. Lucas lifted his head lazily, his expression not one of guilt or shame, but irritation. "You again? What do you want now, Diana?" he sneered. I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying to find my voice. "I... I have something to tell you, Lucas.” Amelia smirked, running her fingers down his chest. "Can’t you see we’re busy, sister? Or are you that desperate for attention?" I ignored her, focusing on Lucas. "I’m pregnant, “I announced, hoping to see Lucas jump out of bed. Silence filled the room, but it wasn’t the kind I had hoped for. Lucas didn’t rush to me, he didn’t pull me into his arms. Instead, he threw his head back and laughed, a cold, cruel sound that sent a shiver down my spine. "Pregnant? That’s rich," he scoffed. His eyes darkened, and he swung his legs off the bed, standing to his full, imposing height. "You really think a child will change anything, “ He asked sarcastically. "Lucas, please," I whispered, my voice cracking, “this is our child, the heir to our throne. Doesn’t that mean anything to you, “I questioned worriedly. I was not expecting applause but also not expecting him to reject his unborn child, and Amelia, my half-sister, smiling happily; she was not remorseful for being caught in bed with my mate. His response came swift and brutal. "No. And if you think it does, then you're more pathetic than I thought." He took a step closer, his voice dropping to a low growl. "You mean nothing to me, Diana, I don’t love you and never did. The only reason I tolerated your existence was because the Moon Goddess forced you on meme, “ declared coldly. Tears welled up in my eyes, as Amelia continued giggling from the bed, my matrimonial bed. "Oh, sister, don’t look so heartbroken, did you really think you could compete with me? Lucas was mine before you came along, and he’ll always be mine, “ She snapped. Lucas smirked, his eyes gleaming with cruelty; he adjusted the little shorts he had on. "Not anymore will I continue living with you, “ He declared. My heart beat faster because of Lucas's words; I was not sure what he would do after. “I, Alpha Lucas of Crescent Moon Pack, reject you, Diana Miller, as my mate and Luna, “ He declared and broke their bond. Pain exploded through my chest as if my very soul was being ripped apart. My knees buckled, and I gasped for air, the agony consuming me from the inside out. The bond between us is broken, leaving behind a gaping void where my heart used to be. Lucas leaned down, his lips close to my ear. "Amelia is already pregnant for me, and she will be my first lady by the time I win this coming election as the Alpha King. And you? You will be nothing more than a maid here." Amelia giggled as Lucas continued, his tone dripping with malice. I left the room in pain, not just pain from my heart, but I felt a sharp pain from my stomach; I looked down and saw blood down on my toes. I couldn't run so well but I needed to see the doctor. I screamed because the pain became unbearable for me. I was rushed to the hospital by some maid, where the doctor confirmed that I had lost my child. I cried and had no one to console me. Everything that just happened was too much for me to bear, and seeing Lucas and Amelia would only add to my pain of losing a child, and yet the father of the child didn't care. I was not fully healed but u need to leave the mansion. I struggled to pack my things and leave for my mother's place. I arrived at my mother's with my bags and saw the most shocking scene, Amelia and my mother smiling. While she rubbed Amelia's stomach, I was pissed and rushed to where Amelia was seated, pushing her away from the chair. “How dare you steal my man and think you can steal my mother also, “ I yelled. But I was shocked when Amelia stood up and slapped me across my face. It really hurt. I rushed to hit her back but my mother's words brought me back, “Diana, how dare you try to hit your sister back, “ She said and pushed me away from Amelia. The tears I was holding found their way down my cheeks; I couldn't believe my own mother had just switched on me, and then I saw it. The gift and obviously my mother loves expensive things, which was why she was the happiest the day I became Luna and also why she never confronts Alpha Lucas whenever I report to her how he treated me. I realized I had never been wanted; my mother only needed me to get gifts from Alpha Lucas, and Amelia needed me to get close to Alpha Lucas so she could steal him away from me, and now they have all achieved their goals using me. I can't leave the pack because of the news about the rogues and how fast they kill lone wolves, and killing me would be the easiest for them because I'm weak and couldn't defend myself. I hid for some days but the humiliation I went through from the pack members was unbearable. Everyone rejected me and used me; I worked but was not paid, and even as their ex Luna, they still didn't respect me. I had no other option than to accept Lucas’s offer, to put my ego aside and accept to be Amelia's maid like Lucas offered.
