Chapter 010: Everything

660 Words
Eli walked towards Luna's room. He was nervous about telling Luna everything that happened. There were so many different possible outcomes. Perhaps she would think he had gone insane and just brush off his words. Or, maybe, she would believe him, but refuse to allow him to try to go back or get involved any further. Or, she might have a completely different reaction that he could not anticipate. He stopped outside the door. 'I can do this.' he thought. Eli knocked on the door, half hoping there would be no answer and that she had already left for work. He had forgotten that it was her day off. To his dismay, Luna called from inside the room, saying, "Come in." He pushed open the aspen wood door. "Did you need something, Eli?" she asked when he entered. She looked a bit surprised, most likely because he hardly ever came to her room. "Actually, I need to talk to you. If you're busy, it can wait, though." he said, looking at the paper and pen on her desk, which she had been sitting at when he entered. 'Oh, no, that's alright. I'm not doing anything important." she told him, following his gaze. "Alright, but you might want to sit down..." he warned her. "Alright..." she responded, a confused look on her face as she sat down on the bed. Eli sat down next to her, deciding how he should start. "Luna, you remember Ethan, don't you?" "Of course I do, why? Did something happen to him?" she asked, looking concerned. "No, he's fine, I just needed to make sure you remembered him before telling you..." he hesitated. "Before telling me what, Eli?"                  Eli told Luna everything, from the night that Ethan first mentioned his idea for a 'book' they could work on together, to the night that they made the carving in the mirror, to meeting Mi-Ok, to getting back. He even told her his plans to go back and save Mi-Ok and Hyun-Ki. She looked shocked, to say the least. "Wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight. The reason you and Ethan 'drifted apart' was because he kept trying to get you to help him with his plan to send people to a parallel universe, but you refused, so he did it without you and ended up sending you there, because you refused to help him. He brought you back, which you assume is because you were too close to bringing two other people back, but now you want to go back to save those two people, and you need my help, correct?" she asked. Listening to his sister say it, Eli realised just how far-fetched it actually sounded. "Luna, I know how hard it must be to believe, but-" "I believe you." she cut him off. "You do?" he asked, shocked. "Yes." she said whilst laughing at the wide-eyed expression on his face. "Then, you'll help me get back?" he asked hopefully. Getting her to help him might be easier than he originally thought. "Only if you promise to be extra careful. If it comes to it, move on without them. Don't risk your life for them." she agreed after a moment of hesitation. "Alright." he agreed, although he knew that, if it really did come down to it, he'd willingly sacrafice himself for Mi-Ok and Hyun-Ki. He also knew that Luna was only making him agree because she couldn't stand the thought of losing him, since he was the only family she had left. That and, unlike Olivia, she would never put anyone in danger- or even wish that anything bad happen to them. She simply wanted to make sure he was safe so that she wouldn't lose him like how they had lost their parents. "Alright, how do I help you get back?" Luna asked. "Actually, before I go back, I need to do something, but we'll have to go to South Korea, for that."
