Once the door had closed firmly behind Cole, the officer in the room stepped forward, notebook in hand. "It"s just routine, but I need to take your statements, as well. You were the ones that found the body, and I need to cover every base." His voice sounded almost apologetic. Joel came back and sat down next to Piper, and together they recounted what had transpired over the night. The officer took diligent notes, and when he finished, he stood and thanked them for their time. As he was about to walk out the door, he turned back and looked at Joel. "I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes. The chief is expecting results quickly before things get out of hand. He"s not happy that we"re back here for another murder."
