Looking down at the fragile, broken Angel beside me, I realise that I would do anything for her. Which makes me confused as to how I was the reason she was in this position right now.
At that moment, the doorbell chimed downstairs. Remembering that Lily couldn't open the door, I slowly slipped out of bed, adjusted the duvet around Angel and climbed down the stairs. Literally. I'm really tired okay?
"Hey, Mom! How are you?" I say sheepishly as she rejects my hug.
"Don't you 'hey, mom' me! You decided to announce your girlfriend to the paparazzi instead of me! That too, three months ago!" She shouts looking completely outraged. Just as she finished her screaming match, Lily runs into the room with a stuffed teddy bear in her arms. She drops the bear and runs towards her grandmother.
"Momma! I not see you long time , Momma." She says in a quiet voice, making my mom turn to me with a sharp glare.
"Ask your father." Lily looks at me, mentally questioning me. Before I could answer, my mom changes the subject. "Anyway, how do you like daddy's girlfriend, Lily?" Hearing her words, Lily's eyes widen in excitement.
"Wosie? I love Wosie! She my BFFF, Momma." Her eyes lose a little colour when she continues, "but Wosie not happy. Daddy shout at her and she cry and then sleep. She no huwt me Momma but she cry!"
"Damien! What is she saying? Did you make your girlfriend cry? This isn't how I raised you." My father speaks for the first time. "You treat your woman with respect, just like I do. Isn't that right, honey?" He continues looking down at my mom.
"Exactly. Now, tell me what happened."
Ten minutes later I was done telling them every thing.
"She was worn out from all the crying, so I put her to bed. It was awful, ma. And her wrist was so red." I tell her, desperate to make her understand how painful it was for me at the time.
"Oh, Damien. You have to understand. She isn't normal, you know that, I know that. She trusts you, and she hadn't been yelled at before. At least by you, so it must have shocked her that you could shout at her. I understand that Lily could have been hurt, but she said it herself. She was fine."
"I know. I already feel bad enough."
"Damy?" A quiet voice called out from above the stairs. I immediately get up and run up the stairs.
Once I reach her, I notice that her hair is all messed up and a new set of tears had escaped her eyes. I reach my hands out and place it on both sides of her face.
"You okay? What happened, baby?"
"You were gone, Damy. I said sorry, but you were so angry. Then I thought it was a dream. So, I opened my eyes and you still weren't there, Damy. You're not leaving me are you?" What have I done? Gone was the bubbly girl and replaced by an insecure one.
"No, baby. I'm not going anywhere." I assured her. "And you don't have to be sorry, okay? I shouldn't have shouted at you, I was wrong. I'm sorry." She just stuffs her head into my chest and sniffles away her tears. "Now, would you like to meet my mom?"
As if my words were the best things she'd ever heard, he head flies out of my chest and she nods at me. I take her down the stairs to where my parents and Princess are and make her stand next to me, in front of them. I wrap an arm around her waist and she leans slightly into me.
"Mom, Dad. This is my beautiful girlfriend, Rosalina Blake. Angel, this is my mom and dad. Or Lily's 'momma' and 'pops'." I introduce.
Mom jumps up from the sofa and engulfs us both in her arms, shocking us both. "Oh, finally. I never thought I'd see the day that my son had fallen in love! So, when's the wedding? How many kids are you planning on? Can you name her after me?"
"Mom!" I whine, as I feel my face heat up. Meanwhile, Rose just looks confused.
"What?" She asks.
"Nothing, Rose. Mom's just being her silly old self."
"Hey! Watch it! I'm not old, am I Marlin?"
"Of course not, Lia."
Rose just giggles. "I like you guys. You're funny." I'm glad.
My mother smiles fondly at my Angel before placing a hand lightly on her cheek, "I like you too. I'm glad my son found you. And call us Amelia and Marlin."
"Are you Amelia or Marlin?" There's the bubbly Rose that I know.
We all laugh.
"Wosie! Up!" Lily reaches her arms towards Rose from her place in my dad's arms. Rose takes her from Dad before they start whispering to each other about God knows what.
"Lily's seemed to take a liking towards you," my dad says to Rose, "I mean, my own granddaughter left me for you!" He continues with a chuckle, so we know he isn't being serious.
It's nice to know that my parents like Rose as much as I do. In the past, they weren't very supportive about my girlfriends. Well, they weren't all that amazing if you'd compare them to my Angel. No one stands a chance in comparison to her. One girl in particular. I never knew that the worst thing that's happened to me, could result in me receiving the best thing that's happened to me.
My princess.
