"Come in." Matteo said at the soft knock on the door. Viviana opened the door, looking around and then slowly closed it behind her. Matteo watched her, feeling embarrassed. Ever since the incident with Amy, Viviana had been especially careful not to walk in without knocking. It was like she was afraid to catch him doing something bad.
"Hey." He said, standing, moving around the desk to greet her. Viviana took a step away when he would have pulled her in for a kiss. Instead she moved towards the desk, her bag in her hand. He watched her- noting how elegant she looked in her pant suit, wishing he could just wrap his arms around her. She had been distant and he had been careful to sleep in the living room until things smoothed over.
