LUCINDA GILLS
I knelt on the hard wood floor. Two pairs of hands pushed down on my shoulders and held me down.
My heart beat was off the roof. What happened?
I had been walking through the woods and suddenly I came across some sort of trap. And the next thing I knew I had been beset by a group of people. They grabbed me before I could even say a word.
Then they gave me a verdict of meeting their Alpha. I quickly realized that I had crossed into the territory of some unknown pack. My horror grew as I realized I just committed a crime worthy of a death penalty.
It was up to the Alpha of the pack to decide what to do with me. The guards hauled me even deeper into the pack and my imagination went wild in those moments.
I could easily remember stories of vicious Alpha’s that would do terrible things to people foolish enough to trespass on their pack territory.
I immediately felt the bitter irony of my situation. I managed to escape from my pack, and I finally felt safe from them. Yet I had been captured by another pack.
As I was brought into the large house that belonged to the Alpha, I felt a sort of relief. I was out of the rain at least.
My heart beat fast and I didn’t know what to expect. It was worse because the guards pushed my head down before the Alpha walked into the room. He did it because I wasn’t worthy to look upon their Alpha before he called me.
I heard footsteps enter the room. My throat tightened with anticipation.
A hand grabbed my hair and pulled my hard up suddenly.
I gasped as I was pulled to look upon their Alpha.
I didn’t know what to expect, but my entire body froze immediately.
I recognized that face.
He stared at his men with cold blue eyes and his hard face was expressionless.
“Who is this?” He asked.
“We found her wandering around the border. She’s a rogue.” The guard said.
“Why did you bring her here?” He asked with a slight hint of annoyance. His square jaw tightened. “Didn’t I give you orders to kill any rogue you found?” He asked.
My heart stopped at his words.
It was worse because I recognized him as soon as I saw him. He was the Rogue king that Alpha Vincent was going to sell me too!
But he hadn't recognized me yet.
“I’m sorry, my king.” The guard said immediately. “She looked harmless so we brought her before you first.” The guard explained.
“No rogue is harmless.” He said with a cold voice. Then his gaze moved to me. I immediately bent my head down.
I did it purely out of instinct. Even though I knew that I should have been begging my case rather than hiding my face. I just couldn’t let him see my face. He was going to recognize me!
“Pull her up.” His hard voice said.
I suddenly felt the same pair of hands that had been holding me down before grab my underarms and pull me up with a single heave. I was thrown out of balance as I was forcibly pulled upright, but the guards immediately stabilized me .
A strong hand touched the bottom of my chin and pulled my face up.
Suddenly I was face to face with the Rogue King. My heart beat rapidly as I came stared down with his steely blue eyes.
Then his eyes widened ever so slightly. If I wasn’t looking directly at them then I might have missed the gesture myself.
“I recognize you.” He said.
My stomach crashed down immediately, and I felt doom wash over me. The Rogue king had actually recognized me just as I feared!
He tried buying me at the auction but I managed to escape. I had never been expecting to see him here. I had been so sure that I left him behind a long way away. Only for me to find him on this side of the world.
What could I do now?
I ran away from my pack to escape the clutches of Alpha Vincent and the Rogue King. Yet I somehow found myself in his possession just like I feared.
Is this how the many girls that Alpha Vincent had sold to him in the past felt. What did he do with all of them?
What was he going to do with me?
“You… you are that woman aren’t you?” The Rogue King asked.
My mouth was dry. I wondered what I should do. Should I lie and deny what he was saying?
But how could I? I had been tied up in front of him for hours all in the name of an auction. How could he not recognize me easily?
I immediately berated myself for being stupid. I realized that I should have disguised myself when I got to New York. I made it too easy for them to recognize me.
I realized immediately that even if I disguised myself, I would still be in this exact same situation now.
After a few long seconds of deliberation, I finally decided to reply.
“Yes.” I said as I met his gaze. This was the man who bought virgin wolfless girls. I didn’t know what unspeakable thing he had in mind for me.
“How did you make my daughter laugh?”
The Rogue King’s last question completely threw me off my thought process and resolve.
“What?” I asked.
“No one had ever made my daughter laugh.” He said.
I was completely speechless. Daughter? What was he talking about?
Then I remembered the little girl in the park earlier. Was that him and his daughter?
But how could he have a daughter and such still do evil things?
“Leave us.” He commanded. The guards bowed to him and stepped out of the room. After they left he faced me.
“I have an offer for you.” He said.
My heart skipped. What could he possibly be talking about?
“I want you to be my daughter’s nanny.” The Rogue King said.
