Chapter 2

900 Words
Chapter 2 Kaden's POV I must have dosed off during the night. That was my first thought as all I saw was a darkness when I started to pay attention to my sight. After a little while, I realised that it wasn't darkness I was looking into, but rather a brown colour that looked a lot like fur. As my eyes widened and I became more awake my face came into direct contact with the back of an animal. As the contact was made, a low growl reverberated from the fur and they slowly started to turn around to face me. My breath hitched as the sight of their snout came into focus. Their head fully turned and I was face to face with my mate. I was staring into her hazel eyes whilst my wolf was howling MATE in my head. The need and want to touch her, to love her was overpowering me but I didn't think she was feeling the same way. Her eyes remained serious and there was no hint that she understands why I'm looking at her this way. "She's confused. And Scared." Lucien was trying to connect with her wolf but he was being blocked, which isn't a good sign. This normally means she was either strong willed beyond belief, or she'd been broken. My money was on the latter. I took a few steps back and remained low to the ground, showing her I wasn't a threat. I shifted back and went to reach for the shorts I knew were hidden underneath the bush. As I reached for the clothes she bared her teeth and snarled at me. Realising that if I were to go for those clothes I would not return with a hand, I made the decision to kneel and remain naked so she will see that I am somewhat vulnerable. We stayed like this for what felt like an hour but was more than likely 10 minutes. After staring into her cold and hard hazel eyes the entire time, she seemed to warm to me enough for her to lie down and c**k her head. "Hey, my name's Kaden. I'm not here to harm you, I'm just going to reach for some clothes alright?" Talking whilst reaching for my shorts seemed to be the best for me, not only would it distract her slightly, but my mind told me to let her hear my voice. "It's okay, not planning on hurting you. I just want my shorts. Okay?" She seemed to focussed on my voice to properly watch my hand. But as I stood up after grabbing my shorts her eyes never left mine, not even to glance at my naked body which seemed to hurt my wolfs feelings more than it should have. "Will you shift for me?" My question was met with silence. "Please?" More silence. "It would be easier to communicate if you shifted." Silence. Again. I really didn't want to do this, but if she didn't answer my plea for her to shift one more time I may have to reveal a little part of myself to her. "Please, shift. I won't harm you I promise. Look we're all alone out her." Her eyes started to glaze over as if she was debating with her wolf, but this wasn't the reaction I expected. My feet started to move towards her as if on there own accord when I forced myself to stop. Lucien was trying to take control, but that's not happening on my watch. Not now, when we are so close to getting our mate to shift. Kneeling down, I looked into her eyes again. Still glazed over from talking with her wolf, she didn't realise what I was doing and that I had moved closer to her. There was only one way I would be able to get her to shift at this rate. "SHIFT." The command brought her out of her conversation with her wolf as her body started to tremble, desperately trying to obey the command I just gave her. But with the amount of shaking she was going through it looked as though she was trying to reject the command, but it was a losing battle. No wolf can deny the Alpha command. "I didn't think you were an Alpha. How did you do that?" The first words out of her mouth and I was hooked. Her voice sounded like an angel and I could listen to her speak all day, but as I lifted my head to look at her my train of thought vanished. My mate, the one I've been looking for for 5 years stood before me naked, and there was only one word that came to my mind at that moment. f**k. As my eyes trailed up her legs, a snort seemed to come from her. With my sight suddenly going to her face I noticed an amused glint in her forest green eyes, and a smirk adorning her features. Wait, green eyes? But her wolves eyes were hazel. It's physically impossible for the humans eye colour to be different to their wolves, I mean its genetics. Yet the more thinking I was doing on her eye colour, the more something seemed to bother me. The colour didn't seem natural, it was almost as if she was wearing coloured contacts. "Name, now." "Feyre." No, it couldn't be.
