He offered me an opportunity, but it came with a price I wasn’t ready to pay: “if I hire you, your life belongs to me.”Now, I have to meet him at midnight. I don’t know what he wants, but I know one thing- once I walk through those doors, my life will not be the same.

CHAPTER 1 : The five dollar choice
I had exactly five dollars left in my pocket- enough for a bus or a cheap sandwich, but not enough for another night of rent. Desperation led me to the top floor of the Yan Tower, where the air felt thin and expensive. James Yan didn’t look like a boss; he looked like a predator in a tailored suit. He didn’t even look up from his desk when I walked in. “You’re late,” he said, his voice like velvet over gravel. “I..the elevator was slow, Mr Yan ,” I stammered. Suddenly, he was standing. Before I could blink, he had crossed the room. The scent of expensive cologne and power surrounded me. He leaned in, his chest nearly brushing my shoulder, and whispered directly into my ear. “I don’t care about elevators. I care about obedience,” he breathed, his warmth sending a shiver down my spine. “If I hire you, your time, your focus, and your life belongs to me. Do we have a deal?” My breath hitched in my throat. I could feel the heat radiating from him. A sharp contrast to the icy atmosphere of the office. He was so close that I could see the flecks of the steel in his dark eyes, eyes that didn’t look like they knew the meaning of the word ‘mercy’. My hand went to my pocket, brushing against the crinkled five-dollar bill. It was a pathetic reminder of the life I was leaving behind-a life of a hunger and cold hallways. Jame Yan was offering me a golden cage, but atleast it was a cage where I could breathe. “What kind of life ?” I whispered, my voice trembling more than I wanted it to. He didn’t pull away. Instead his gaze dropped to my lips for a fraction of a second before meeting my eyes again with terrifying intensity. “The kind that belongs to me,” he replied. “Every hour of your day, every thought in your head. I own the contract, and in return, I own you.” I knew I should run. I knew I should walk out of those glass doors and never look back. But as I looked at the man who held my entire future in his hands, I realized I had already made my choice.
