Chapter 13: All on me

I rolled over and looked up at Kai who was snoring softly, his arm was wrapped around my waist trapping me under the blankets. I groaned lightly and pushed him off before heading to the bathroom, I looked in the mirror and smiled at my appearance. It had been two weeks since I had arrived, I had gained almost all my original weight back along with some extra muscle from play sparring with Kai. It was getting really hard to resist mating and marking him, the struggle of taking cold showers multiple a day was wearing on my nerves. I noticed that my freckles had begun to show more seeing as I was spending more time in the sun. 

I sighed and hopped in the shower getting ready for the day. I had started working as a barista at the pack coffee house, it gave me something to do throughout the day while Kai was training. Artemis usually went with me wandering around greeting our customers and making their days. I was getting quite a bit of money in tips and adding them to the squirrel fund. When I was all done getting ready for the day I went into the bedroom where Kai was just waking up. He looked over at me sleepily and smiled before getting up and pulling me into a tight embrace and resting his lips on my head. 

I was slowly getting more comfortable with him pulling me into his arms, at random moments wherever we were. The pack has caught on to the fact that there is something between us though they aren't quite sure what it is yet. I had come to find out that not the entire pack comes to eat with us at night, only about a third of them do. I guess I understood seeing as my family always ate ate dinner together, never at the pack house unless there was a special occasion. The most intimacy we had was cuddling at night, we still hadn't kissed other than a few chaste kisses on my forehead and cheeks. 

"Have a good day at work baby girl." He whispered with his lips still on my forehead. 

"Only if you whip those warriors into shape." I said with a small smile before kissing his neck. 

"Always." He huffed before letting me go with one last kiss to my forehead. I giggled and whistled sharply, Artemis was at my feet instantly her tongue flopping out of the side of her mouth. I squatted down and pet her head and left the bedroom with my keys. We went to the café and opened up shop, I began making coffees and setting up the tables. 

My shift lasted for 10 hours, when it was over I went home and pulled on a pair of underwear along with a pair of black velvet shorts and one of Kai's muscle shirts that reached my mid thigh. I grabbed Artemis and gave her some food and water before taking her out to the backyard with her favorite squeaky tennis ball. We got out and began playing fetch, we played for a while until a familiar fawn colored wolf trotted up with the ball I had thrown into the woods. Artemis ran to her dad and began nipping at him in a playful manner, he played while I sat down and watched with a smile. 

(Our mate is perfect.) 

'I couldn't agree more Lilo.' I smiled over at him when he stood up walked over before licking my nose and walking behind me and shifting and pulling on the short he had tied to his back leg. 

"What are you thinking about love?" He asked sitting next to me as Artemis ran up and layed in the V his legs made. 

"Nothing in particular." I said leaning on his shoulder.

"We should probably go eat." He said nuzzling my temple. 

"Or we can have dinner in our room." I said innocently, he chuckled and nodded before standing up with Artemis in his left arm while his right hand took mine. We went to the room and I made us spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. We ate quickly and I went and got ready for bed while he cleaned up and set the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I got Artemis ready for bed and put her in the crate that resided in the living room while Kai showered. 

Once we were in bed I turned to Kai and asked him a question I had been dying to know. "Kai, will you tell me the story that you didn't want to tell me on our first date?" I felt him take a deep breath before he rolled onto his back. 

"Like I said, it's not a happy tale, that is why I have kinda been putting it off." He sighed and took another deep breath. "Like I said I have three siblings, Damon, Corey and Sara. My parents are highly religious, like Catholics which makes no sense in our werewolf world...like at all. Anyway, Damon has always been the perfect son, always involved with the church, well behaved, and most importantly, he was a sheep in wolfs clothing. He did everything my parents asked of him without a fight. I on the other hand was the bad egg, I didn't listen, I fought, got the marks of the devil on my skin." He said with a sarcastic laugh. 

"I was eight when I got into my first fight, my parents were absolutely pissed. The sad thing I was so happy to have their attention over my brother so I kept getting into trouble just so they wouldn't forget about me. When I was 15 and I met Enapay I began fighting even more. My parents disowned me after two weeks, I pretended I didn't care but I began to spiral, especially when my siblings stopped talking to me. That was when I met Mason, he took me in. He encouraged me to fight seeing as it was something I was good at, he just showed me how to do it properly. I became a warrior and got more tattoos and quite a few piercings, I finally felt like I was more than a shadow." I sighed and curled up closer to Kai, placing my head on his chest and my left hand on the eagle on his heart. 

"I took Mason's last name seeing as he didn't have a family. His mate and son passed away in a car accident when his son was 3, his mate was pregnant with their second pup. He wanted to end his life, but he saw how much I was struggling and decided to save us both. I loved..love him like the father my sperm donor never was. After he died I went into another depression and I dulled the pain with anything I could...I went as far as cutting myself, I was a mess." He sighed and I moved so I was completely on top of him with my face buried in his neck. His arms wrapped around me and he rested his head next to mine taking deep breaths to calm himself. 

"Like I said I needed to numb the pain, I wont lie. I'm not a virgin, s*x was one of the outlets I used to take the pain away. I regret all of it now, but I just needed to feel numb."

"I'm not judging you Kai." I said turning and kissing his chest. "I have no idea what it was like for you...I'm not happy you had s*x with other people, but that isn't something I'll ever use against you." One of his hands reached up and cupped my face while his thumb stroked my cheek. 

"And for that I thank you Shiloh." He said softly. "It was around that time Stephen decided it was time for us to leave to go and find our mates, he knew that if I found you, I would finally begin to heal. Two days before Stephen and I left was the last time I had intercourse with anyone." I just nodded and kissed his hand. "I know this is gonna sound really bad, but none of them meant anything to me. They were ways to ease my suffering."

"Like I aid Kai, I'm not judging you." I said taking my hands and cupping his face. "Since the day we met you have been nothing but astounding. I can finally be within 2 feet of Shane and Stephen without wanting to run in the other direction as far as I can." I leaned down and pressed my lips to his in a sweet kiss, my hands cupped his face as his arms tightened around my waist. I pulled away from him and I could see the shock on his face. "Malachai Lucas, I love you." He flipped us over and put his lips back to mine in a desperate kiss. I put my arms around his neck, he ran his tongue over my bottom lip, unsure of what to do I froze until he nipped my bottom lip and I gasped. He slowly slid his tongue into my mouth giving me the chance to pull away. I turned my head a little giving him better access and ran my hand through his soft hair. The moan that escaped him traveled through both of our beings and made the inside of my thighs slicken. 

When we were both out of breath Kai pulled back and kissed my forehead before looking down into my eyes with his turquoise orbs. "Shiloh Chavez, I love you too." I smiled and kissed his nose, he rested his forehead on mine and we layed there for a while enjoying the moment we were in. After a few minutes he layed back down on his side and pulled me into him so we were facing one another. "Thank you for accepting my past baby girl."

"Everyone has a past, it would be stupid of me to let a thing so trivial stand in the way of what could easily be the best thing in my life." 

"You are undoubtedly the best thing in my life Shiloh, I mean it when I say I love you with every beat of my heart." I curled into him as much as I could before taking deep breaths and inhaling his intoxicating scent. "Can I ask you something love?"

"Anything." I replied instantly. 

"Will you move into my house with me?"

"I would love to Kai." I said sleepily with a yawn. "I have the day after tomorrow off." My eyes began feeling heavy and I felt my breathing deepen as I fell asleep. "Goodnight Kai." 

"Goodnight love." Came the reply as I drifted into a dreamless sleep.
