Chapter 6: Stitches

(Yes Alpha.) Came the packs response. I pulled my knees back up to my chest and took a few deep breaths while Luna Pearl analyzed me.  "Seeing as you're healed, why don't you come stay at the pack villa." She said softly sitting on the foot of my bed. I shook my head thinking about the last time I was in a pack house. "We can set you up on the second floor where you would have a small apartment like set up for yourself." Pearl was quick to say. "It would only be until you found a place to live of your own." Shane added trying to edge closer, I growled lowly and pressed myself further into the wall.  "How many people live in the pack house?" I asked.  "Right now we have ten wolves, including Pearl and I."  "What about Stephen and Malachai?" "Stephen lives on the third floor, and Malachai has his own place, he only stays at the pack house if he is working late or talking with my brother." Shane answered.  "I'll be alone?" I clarified.  "As alone as you want to be." Pearl said scooting closer and taking my shaking hand. "If you need us Shane and I live on the fourth floor." "And it's temporary?" "Yes." I took a deep breath and nodded. "How about tomorrow you and I go shopping, I can tell by the size of your bag you didn't bring a lot of clothing, or essentials." "That would be nice. Ummm c..can I borrow a phone, I want to call my family." Shane nodded and handed Pearl a phone and all three wolves left the room. I dialed Dallas's phone number praying to the goddess he would answer, and he did after the fourth ring.  "Hello.." Came a groggy reply.  "Dally, it's Shiloh." I said my speech wavering.  "Shy! What the hell little sister? Where are you? You're mate keeps poking around looking for you." "Dally, don't tell him I called you. Everything went south, like really bad..." I began sobbing and I covered my mouth with my hand to quiet myself.  "Shy, what do you mean? I promise I want tell him kay? You gotta tell me what is going on." "I can't Dallas, I just needed you to know I'm safe. I'll come home or...I..'ll tell you where I am once HE calms down. Please let Mom, Dad and Cheyanne that I'm okay." "You got it baby sis. Promise you'll keep in touch." "I can't Dallas, he'll catch on and find me." I said with another sob. "He'll kill me." I choked out. "Breath.. I've gotta go Cheyanne, someone is at the door." "I love you Dally." "I love you too Chey." I held the phone tightly while I cried, I really hope my brother would be okay. I would never forgive myself if he or the rest of my family got hurt. I looked at the door as Doctor Lane walked back in. He walked up to the bed and stopped moving once I growled.  "The wolfsbane is almost out of your system, all of your organs are in perfect working order. This may be forward but we have a therapist named Doctor Delia, talking to her could help you with some of the trauma you have experienced." "Female?" I asked. I don't know why people always have their hearts set against therapy, at least the books I read and movies I watch people do.  "Yes." "When can I meet her?" I asked. Doctor Lane seemed pleasantly surprised and smiled kindly at me. "I can set up an appointment in two days." I nodded and released a deep breath. "Can I go?" He nodded and got out of the chair and walked to the door letting Pearl and the men in.  "C'mon Shiloh, let's get you a room." I nodded and shakily got out of the bed, Pearl walked over to my side and took my arm and led me out of the room. I looked down and I noticed I had on hospital pants under my gown, thank the heavens. I was led out to a small parking lot and then to a newly paved road, we walked down the road for about three minutes before walking up to a large building. Pearl walked in the front door before leading me up to the second floor and walked me to a door. We walked in and I looked around the small room we were in. The walls were a light greyish blue with black fabric furniture facing a rather large flat screen TV. I was walked into a bedroom with darker grey walls that matched the bedding. I set my bag on the bed and sat next to it. My legs were weak and shaking from hunger and the fact that for three weeks I ran with hardly any nutrients at all. Hell I looked like a skeleton, still.  "I'll be back in about three hours and we can go to dinner." Pearl said. I nodded and she left the bedroom with a small smile. Once I heard the door close I went into the closet and found a few hoodies, I saw a bureau and looked through the drawers finding quite a few articles of mens clothing. I grabbed a pair of grey briefs and took them into the bathroom with me. I took off the gown and pants and looked at my naked form in the mirror.  I looked horrible, skin and bones, it wouldn't be hard to use me as an anatomy lesson seeing as almost all of my bones were visible. I had a bit of muscle on my arms and legs from running non stop. I turned away from my sad form and took a long hot shower with whatever soaps I could find. When I was done I smelt like a f**k boy, but it was better than smelling like sweat and chemicals. I went into the bedroom and brushed my hair before digging out my toothbrush and freshening my breath. I pulled out my worn moccasins and set them on the floor on the left side of the bed. Elenore and Bert went on my nightstand while my box of money went into the drawer. I went out and looked around the rest of the small apartment finding an office and a small kitchen.  I was tempted to make dinner, but that idea vanished when I found only crackers and protein powder. I sighed and went out to the living room and sat on the couch. I was wearing the hoodie that went down to just above my knees and the briefs that were hidden by the sweater. I had my moccasins covering my feet, I rolled the long sleeves up to my wrists. My now waist length hair was hanging loosely, I needed to get it cut seeing as it was thick AF and gonna give me headaches.  Pearl walked in while I was in my own head and grabbed my hand gently, I stood up slowly rising to my 5 foot 3 height which was smaller than her 5 ft 5 height. We walked out to the hall where Shane, Callum and an unfamiliar woman were waiting.  "Shiloh this is my mate Gilly." Callum said looking down at me, Gilly held out her hand which I took weakly and shook it.  "Welcome to the pack Shiloh." Gilly said.  "Thank you." I said softly.  "Let's eat." Pearl said leading me down the hallway. We walked down to the first floor and followed our noses to where a bunch of wolves were waiting, they all looked at us as we walked in. I was led to a seat and placed between Pearl and Gilly. We were soon presented with steak and mashed potatoes. As per the custom of a pack I waited until Shane and Pearl had taken the first bite. After they were done with their first bite I dug into my food, eating as casually as I could even though I felt like I was starving. After I got full I leaned back and looked at my empty plate in contentment as I rubbed my clothed stomach.  "Did you get enough?" I looked over at Shane who asked and I nodded. "Did you save room for dessert?" "I always have room for dessert." I said licking my lips, Shane laughed and nodded in agreement. After a bit of time we were all presented with what looked like heaven on a plate. Angle food cake served with strawberries. I ate the confection happily and looked over at Pearl who was laughing with her mate.  A pang of loneliness shot through my heart when I began to think I would never have that. I wrapped my arms around myself and pulled my legs up under my butt after crossing them.  "Can I have your attention Smoke-eagle." I heard Shane call as he stood and clinked his glass. The pack turned and looked at him, listening eagerly. "I know you are confused about the events that transpired earlier today. I would like to introduce you all to Shiloh, we found her outside of our borders the other day, after talking with her it was clear she needed a safe place to call home. I won't go into detail seeing as it is not my place to say, but she has escaped from a very abusive mate who is going around to packs looking for her." A man stood and looked at Shane before looking down at me.  "Wont he be able to track her through the mate bond?" He asked.  "No, Shiloh has cut all bonds with him by drinking wolfsbane infused water and rejecting him." Shane answered.  "What if he comes here?" A woman with almond skin and jet black ass length hair asked standing up and looking at me with curious brown eyes.  "He is not allowed on our lands, should he step foot on Smoke-eagle territory he will be executed." "Does Alpha Stephen know of this?" The same woman asked.  "He has been made aware, but that is really none of your business Meli." Shane said with a low growl, she bowed her head and sat down. "Any other questions?" "No Alpha." The pack responded, I ran my hand through my hair and let out a tense breath before getting up slowly and looking over at Pearl and Shane.  "I'm gonna head to bed, I'll see you tomorrow, and thank you." I bowed to them before leaving the mess hall and heading to my small apartment. I walked into the bedroom sliding under the blankets and pulling the right pillow into my chest. I noticed that the pillow smelled pretty good and I fell asleep clutching it for dear life.
