Chapter 5: Without me

Beep....Beep....Beep....Beep. I groaned inwardly as the beeping annoyed me, opening my eyes I was happy to see that I was alone, not happy to see I was connected to wires. I sat up stiffly and held my head as the room spun around. The door to my room opened and I growled as an unfamiliar person walked in. His eyes took me in as I snarled ferally and scooted my back against the wall. 

"Hello, I'm doctor Lane, I mean you no harm small wolf." The man said. I narrowed my eyes but stopped growling. 

"How long have I been here?" I asked with a scratchy throat.

"A day and a half, I need to take some blood to see how much wolfsbane is still in your system." I nodded and held out my arm for him to take. He gingerly took my limb and pushed a needle in it and I watched as my blood filled the small tube. He pressed a small cotton ball to my closing wound and held it there for a moment before backing up and walking to the foot of my bed. 

The door opened again and two large men walked in, I pushed myself back and snarled at them as they walked in cautiously. Doctor Lane stopped them halfway into the room and told them to speak from a distance. 

"Who are you?" The larger of the two men asked, he had dark brown hair and hazel eyes, his skin was a pale ivory color, the other guy was a darker medium gold skin with blonde hair and brown eyes. I could tell the larger man was an Alpha so I ceased the snarling but kept my eyes on them uneasily. "Why did you come into my pack?"

"I didn't realize I was in a pack's land." I said truthfully. The Alpha nodded and stepped toward me, I growled and barred my teeth in warning. 

"Why did you drink wolfsbane, that stuff is deadly." The other guy asked, I decided not to answer, I pulled my knees up to my chest and rested my chin on them. "We have your things." I lifted my head back up and looked at the Alpha who handed me my black pack. I sighed and rummaged through it, I panicked when I didn't see my wallet. I looked up at the Alpha who was holding it, I snarled at him threateningly. 

"I only used it for your name Shiloh," he said. "My name is Shane, and this is my first warrior Callum, he was the one who found you in the woods."

"I don't care." I growled. 

"You might when I tell you that I got an email from Alpha Harlem Creed, he was looking for his mate, who happens to have the same name as you." I felt the blood leave my face and my body begin to tremble. 

"He can't know where I am." I said as tears slid down my face. "He'll kill me, please tell me he isn't coming here." I pleaded. 

"He isn't." I sighed ran my hands through my messy hair. "But should any other Alpha see you they will call him and give you up." I shook my head and tears began to spill again. "We can protect you here, but only if you tell us everything." I felt my breathing quicken and my head begin to spin as I began panicking, my stomach began to twist and turn and I leaned over the side of the bed and hurled before I really began to hyperventilate. Warm hands cupped my face as I bawled in a state of horror, I looked up into a pair of warm hazel eyes that were filled with alarm and regret. I pulled away and curled up on myself and thought about Lucy and Dallas along with my little sister Cheyanne. I felt my heart beat steady and my breathing go back to normal. I looked up at Alpha Shane and Callum to see them closer than before, I narrowed my eyes and growled and they back up a few steps. 

"What state are we in?" I asked. 

"Washington." Callum answered, I breathed a small sigh of relief before pulling my knees back to my chest. 

"I'm sorry to make you relive it, but we need to know Shiloh." Alpha Shane said lightly. I shook my head and held back as sob as I thought of all I had been through in the past few months. I thought about how happy I was when I saw my mate for the first time, how he betrayed me on the first day, how he nearly killed me, how he let his Beta beat me. He chose someone else over me, he rejoiced at my pain, then I thought about what he would do if he found me.

"He'll kill you, all of you." I said my voice barely louder than a whisper. 

"He could try, my brother and I have one of the strongest packs in the U.S. We could wipe out his pack in a single night." I just shook my head. "My brother is the infamous Alpha Stephen." I looked up at him in shock, Alpha Stephen was known to be 10x worse then Harlem. If he was trying to calm me down he failed, I began to worry about what Stephen would do if I ever met him. 

"Oh great look at what you did!" I heard Callum growl. 

"I was trying to help!" Shane defended. "How would I know she would be that terrified of my brother!"

"She only knows him by reputation! Word about him sleeping with a Teddy bear doesn't spread like him being a dick." I looked up at Callum and Shane as they stared at one another. 

"Does he really sleep with a teddy bear?" I asked, Shane nodded and rolled a chair as close as I would let him before sitting down. 

"My brother does have a bad rep, but he is only that way to outsiders, and yes he sleeps with a Teddy bear. I gave it to him on our 7th birthday, he is waiting for his mate so he can give it to her." I took a deep breath.

"Do you have a mate?" Both Shane and Callum nodded. 

"Yes." Callum said. "Alpha Stephen and his first warrior Malachai are out looking for their mates." 

"I promise, neither of them will hurt you Shiloh, but we need to know what he did to be able to protect you." Shane added. 

And so I told them, everything. From meeting Harlem to the day I ran away. I told them about how I bit Reed's d**k and how and why I haven't been in contact with Lilo. I was crying by the end while Shane and Callum were fuming. 

"Callum, go and get a glass along with Pearl." Shane said, he turned to me and took a few deep breaths when he saw I was trembling. "I'm gonna add you into the pack, but to do that I need to get near you." I froze, I didn't want him near me at all. 

Callum came back in a few minutes later with a woman and a glass along with a knife. "I want her to do it." I said to Shane while looking at the woman. 

"Understandable, Shiloh this is my mate and wife Pearl." I nodded at her as she walked over to Shane and embraced him. "Pearl this is Shiloh."

"It's unfortunate that we meet under these circumstances, but it is nice to meet you." 

"You as well Luna." I said with a small bow. She sent me a small smile before slicing her palm and bleeding into the cup, she cut Shane's hand open as well before walking over to me. She cut my hand and I bled into the cup. 

"What is your last name Shiloh?" Shane asked. 

"Chavez." He nodded. 

"Shiloh Chavez, do you swear to protect Smoke-eagle pack and all the wolves within it's borders?" 

"I swear."

"Do you, Shiloh Chavez, swear to follow our laws and rules to ensure the safety of yourself and this pack?"

"I swear."

"I, Shane Russell, Alpha of Smoke-eagle, hereby welcome you, Shiloh Chavez, into this pack as one of our Delta wolves." I took a sip of the blood and handed it back to Pearl who took a swig on her way to Shane who downed the rest of it. Once he was done I felt a click in my mind and immediately put up a wall as wolves began digging into my mind.
