Chapter 19: Fire Burning

I sighed and looked at Alpha Jake tiredly. 

"Ummm..that is a long story Alpha, my dad or Dallas can fill you in through the mind link if you ask." I said not wanting to repeat myself or breakdown into a sobbing mess again. 

"Oookay." He said before his eyes clouded over, he sat in the link for a few minutes before his face last all color. Once his eyes cleared up he looked at me with an expression of horror. 

"He.....he lied to me. He said he loved you...his beta....they....I'm so sorry Shiloh." He said in a hushed whisper while covering his mouth with his hands. 

"It's not your fault Alpha Jake." I said with a weak smile before I sighed. "What did he and his beta say when they came to you?"

"They said there was a small rouge attack before your Luna ceremony and that a rouge had gotten you good while on your way to the shelter. I was told you were injected with wolfsbane and went into a coma, they had to go to a pack nearby to help with a rouge issue and when they went back you were gone. They couldn't find any traces of you." I shook my head and rolled my eyes. "It's a damn good thing you got away from him kiddo."

"Yeah it is." I sighed rubbing my hand down my face. "I don't mean to be rude, but I am drained, is there any chance we could head to the old pond?"

"Of course. I'll see you soon kiddo, c'mon Stewart, they wont cause trouble." I shifted back into my wolf while Jake and Stewart left, I led Kai off in the opposite direction of them and showed him to the old pond. The old pond was at the edge of the west side of the territory, there was an old cabin that was around 60 years old. It was still in good condition thanks to Dallas and I. We had spent an entire summer with our dad fixing it up as our fort. Right outside there was a small pond with a bench looking over it, I noticed the pond was filled with little tadpoles and a few turtles. I layed down on the grass and began panting as the heat of the evening sun beamed down on me. 

Once the sun went down I began to cool off, I stood up and padded over to the cabin before shifting back and walked into my past. I found an old batman robe and a larger grey robe that had been my dads, I brought it to the door where Kai was standing fully nude. He pulled the robe on as I walked to one of the walls and looked at Dallas and my initials in the old window sill board we had nailed to the wall. I ran my hand over the scratched wood and thought back to the day we had done that. 

"Tell me about it baby." Kai said standing behind me and putting his arms around my waist. 

"We had just lost our grandparents, on my mom's side. Dallas and I were having trouble in school, so one night we ran out here and found this old abandoned shed. It looked like the old cabin from a story our grandma had told us whenever we would stay over at her house so we decided to look around. In one of the drawers Dallas found an old rusted swiss army knife, he brought it over to one of the windows and began carving letters in it. I told him I wanted to do it too, instead of saying I was too young or weak he helped me carve the S.C in the aged wood before finishing his." I leaned back into Kai's embrace and sighed. 

"Dallas was my best friend, big brother and second father throughout my entire life. My parents are always working, saving money so that we have some kind of future. So on the nights they would work late and Cheyanne was at my Aunt Karen's house we would run out here and spend the night. My dad freaked out one night because we fell asleep and didn't make it home before we did. He and a few other pack members followed our scent here. My dad being a police officer expected the worst, but he walked in to see Dallas and I curled up together on an old couch we had found on the side of the road and dragged here." I laughed at the stupidity of the situation looking back. 

"The following summer my dad helped us fix up the place, we kept our sill but got rid of the old couch. We even got two old beds that came from the pack house brought out here. We named it Grandma's cabin, but we usually just say the old pond because of the memories."

"That is one of the most adorable stories I have ever heard." Kai said into my neck. 

"It gets better, the day he turned 15 and shifted for the first time, he let me ride on his back, he brought us here. We stayed here for a while playing around, the day I shifted for the first time he was with me and we ran here and spent the night letting our wolves bond. The next morning we sat here thinking about what our futures would look like and we came up with a small promise. When we found our better half and the person we'd want to spend the rest of our lives with we would bring them here. And when we had kids, this cabin would become their fort. Dallas brought Akila here after introducing her to the family and marking her. And now I've brought you here, I've brought you to my little safe haven. I love you Malachai Lucas." I was spun around and given a huge smile before Kai pressed his lips to mine. 

"I love you too Shiloh Chavez." I sighed and put my arms around Kai's neck before putting my face on his shoulder. He kept his arms where they were, he began humming and moving us around in a slow circle. Soon I joined him in humming the slow melody from Bruno Mars, we spun around lost in our own little world. Kai's body heat enveloped me wishing the night was cooler than it was, too soon Kai pulled away. He tilted his head before his eyes widened. "Baby, does this place have running water?" I nodded. "Where is the bathroom?" I took his hand and led him to the tiny room known as the bathroom, he sighed before he went to the tub and began filling it with water. 

"What are you doing?" I asked. 

"You're going into heat love," Oh s**t! "the cold water will cool you down and make the pain more bearable." I took a few deep breaths calming myself as I came to understand the next few days were going to be absolute hell. The heat slowly began to intensify so I pulled off my robe and got into the freezing water while Kai was still there. The heat rapidly increased within a few minutes, along with the heat came a searing pain in my gut that had me crying out in agony. Kai disrobed and slid into the tub behind me and pulled me close. The fireworks seemed to dull the pain enough for it to be not extremely horrible.

"How are you feeling baby?" Kai asked after awhile.

"I just want to sleep." I whimpered, as Kai stood up and re-robed himself before lifting me out of the water and drying me off. He drained the tub and pulled me to one of the bedrooms, he looked in the drawers and pulled out a pair of underwear and a sports bra. I slid them on while Kai walked off somewhere returning in a pair of Dallas's boxers. We went over to the bed and layed down, Kai pulled a light covering over us before opening the window and pulling my body flush against his. With him beside me I fell into a deep sleep, in the middle of the night however, the pain came back tenfold and I cried out.

Kai was up in an instant carrying me to the bathroom and stripping me while turning on the water and plugging the drain. Once I was all set we got in, he still wearing Dallas's boxers. 

(Mate can help us.) Lilo whimpered. (We need to mate.)

I turned to Kai who was holding Enapay at bay judging by the way his eyes kept flickering. I spun around and straddled his lap before pressing my lips to his. The heat of the kiss helped dull the pain and I sighed in relief. Kai, pulled back and brushed my hair out of my face, his eyes were clear, and full of emotions. 

"We can't do this now baby. I know Lilo is pushing you to mate, but our first time will not be anything less than perfect." I nodded and pressed my forehead to his, my hands cupping his face. "Our close contact and these cold baths will help. I linked Stephen, your dad and Dallas will be here tomorrow with food and lots of ice." I nodded and practically collapsed against him as the heat began to subside. 

"Kai, I'm cold." I said weakly. He pulled us up and dried me off before slipping my clothes back on me and bringing us back to my bedroom. He left and came back with a small stack of men's underwear, I sighed once he joined me on the bed and wrapped me up in his embrace. For the second time that night we fell asleep. 

.....Time jump....

"Finally! It's over!" I cried out as I walked into my parents house. My dad laughed while my mom and Akila rolled their eyes.

"So about 5 and a half months till I get more grand babies right!?" I shook my head causing her to pout and Kai to laugh nervously. 

"We abstained mom." I said while rolling my eyes. 

"Good for you two!" My dad said proudly. 

"Hey guys!" Nova said walking in, Stephen was behind her holding a sad looking puppy, I whimpered slightly and she looked over at me. She perked up wiggling and jumping out of Stephens embrace. She was whining and wiggling while running over to Kai and I. I lifted her up and she licked all over my face before kissing her daddy like crazy. 

"We missed you too baby doll." I cooed, she sneezed before she lifted her top lip showing off her teeth. "What a pretty smile!" I gushed as she showed Kai. He laughed loudly petting her small head. 

"Oh great, there goes my cuddle buddy." Stephen joked. 

"Not to ruin the moment, but I would kinda like to go see my new home." Nova said taking Stephen's hand.

"I just have to say good-bye, Dallas will kill me if I leave without seeing him." I said, she nodded in agreement. I hugged my parents and ran up to Cheyanne's room where she was making out with Louis.

"Have you ever heard of knocking?!" She screeched. 

"Eh..Anyway, we're heading out, but I can leave without saying goodbye." I turned in a slow dramatic fashion making Louis laugh. Cheyanne grumbled before she got up and we hugged one another. "I love you lil' sis." I kissed her forehead before sighing and walking back down to the kitchen where Kai was talking with my dad about man things. When I walked up they stopped chatting and my dad pulled me into his arms. 

"Keep in touch baby girl, and remember I love you."

"I love you too dad." I said as he kissed my dimpled cheeks. He shooed me away before shaking Kai's hand and sending us off to Dallas's house. I walked in without knocking and scared Lucy while she was playing with her kitchen set. She screamed at first but began laughing when she realized it was me, Dallas and Akila came barreling down the stairs while snarling at me. I laughed loudly when Dallas stormed over and set Lucy down before glaring at me. I squeaked and jumped behind the couch before getting attacked by Akila from behind, she held my hands while Dallas tickled my sides. I screeched and Lucy came to my rescue attacking Dallas's legs and making him fall over. I then pulled away from Akila and sat on Dallas's back. 

"Get off fatso!" He groaned playfully, I huffed and stood up holding out my hands, he took them and stood before pulling me into his chest. "You're headed home right?" I nodded and sighed. "Keep in touch Shy, he can't hurt you, not with Malachai and the twins protecting you."

"I'm not worried about my safety Dallas, I'm worried about you, Kia, Bear, mom and dad. I know I'm safe, but Harlem could wipe you guys out, and I know he wouldn't hesitate to."

"Eh, he wont touch us now, while you and Malachai were holed up in the love shack, Alpha Stephen and Jake made an alliance. We are all safe now little sister." 

"Thank the goddess." I said kissing his cheek. "I love you Dallas."

"Love you too Shy, now go home and get some rest." I nodded and said bye to Akila and Bear before heading out to the SUV and getting into the shotgun seat beside Kai. Artemis crawled into my lap with her skunk and layed down falling asleep on my lap, Kai put his foot down on the accelerator and began driving us home.
