Loving Shiloh

Chapter 16: Love lies

"What? Are you sure?" Kai asked looking down at me in disbelief. 

"Of course I'm sure, I love you Kai and I want everyone to know it."

"You do understand that within a few weeks you'll go into heat right? I know you're not ready for s*x and I understand that, but the pain of your heat will make it nearly impossible to abstain."

"I know that Kai, but I'm ready to take this step with you." I raised my hand up to the side of his face and caressed his jaw with the pad of my thumb. He tapped my thigh and I hopped onto his body wrapping my legs around his torso and my arms around his neck. He carried us over to the bed before setting me back against the pillows and sitting up on his knees while I layed back. He pulled off his shirt and leaned over me before pressing his lips to mine. 

"I'll mark you baby, but only if you mark me first." He said into the kiss, not hesitating I broke the kiss and rolled us over so he was on his back. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I trailed small kisses down his jaw and throat before ending in the nape of his neck. I gently licked the skin and his hand tightened on my waist as he moaned. I suckled on his skin before growing out my canines and brushing his skin with them. I gently bit down and broke his warm and smooth skin. A sliver of my soul left my body and went into Kai as I pulled away from his neck and licked away his blood. His skin instantly healed and he flipped us over, he moved my hair out of his way before gently biting down on my neck with his now extended canines. There was a pinch of pain before it was replaced by the ecstasy. 

I felt a the missing piece of my soul get completed by a part of Kai, at the same time I felt a rush of emotions and feelings coming from my mate as he pulled away from my neck and licked away the blood. I smiled when I felt how proud of me he was, how he felt the same way about me as I did him. I loved Malachai, and I could feel how much he loved me in return. It was one of the best feelings in the world, but it was soon covered with a blanket of exhaustion, I yawned and look at Kai who had curled up beside me and fallen asleep. I nestled myself into his side before letting myself fall into the dreamless sleep that was edging itself on me.

When I woke up the next morning, I felt Kai's hand slowly running up and down my naked back. I smiled, turned my head and kissed his chest before looking up at his dazzling face. He was smiling down, looking at me as if I was the most precious thing in the world. 

"Good morning baby."

"Good morning handsome." I said back using the tips of my fingers to trace his eagle tattoo. A surge of happiness, amazement and love came through the mate link at me and I smiled at Kai who kissed my forehead. 

"Last night was one of the best nights of my life baby." He said softly wile taking his free hand and cupping my face. "I'm so happy that you trust me enough to bear my mark."

"I wouldn't want anyone else's Kai." He smiled and kissed my cheek before rolling out of our bed and stretching. I followed his lead and went into the closet grabbing some clothes and heading to the bathroom, once I was in the shower I heard the door open and a knock sound on the door frame. 

"Hey baby, you mind if I brush my teeth real quick."

"Of course you can." I responded while rinsing the shampoo from my hair. I applied some conditioner and washed my body while I let the thick light pink cream sit in my hair as to soften it. Once my body was clean and the conditioner was out of my hair I realized I forgot my towel on the door where it was drying from yesterday. "Kai?" I asked hoping he was still close. 

"Yeah baby?" Came his reply from inside the bathroom. 

"Will you hand me my towel please?" I heard him shuffle around, his hand poked through the curtains with my blush pink towel in his hand. I took it gingerly and began drying off, I stepped out of the shower and found myself alone in the bathroom, I hadn't even heard Kai leave. Once I was dry I put the towel up in my hair and pulled on my black skinny jeans and a plum off the shoulder top. I pulled my thick long ass hair into a  high pony tail and walked into the bedroom. I made the bed and pulled on a pair of socks before heading downstairs where Kai was playing with Artemis in the living room. 

I giggled and held my little girl when she ran up to me and sat on my feet, knowing better than to jump. Kai kissed her head while she was in my arms and she whimpered and licked her lips. 

"You're such a good girl." I said in a baby voice, her tail thumped on my arm before I set her back down and headed for the garage. I pulled on my converse while Kai slipped on a pair of combat boots, we go in our seat and took one anothers hands while Kai drove me to work. 

"Have a good day Baby, I'll see you later." I pecked his lips and got out of the car taking Artemis with me. We slipped into the café and got to work. I ate a coffee cake muffin and downed a cup of earl grey tea for breakfast. The day went quickly, I was finally coming to know the regulars and their orders which made me feel like I finally fitting in. About 3 hours before my shift ended I noticed Corey walking in with two other wolves, they sat in my section so I went over to their table and took their order. 

"Hello. What can I get for you today?" I asked them. Corey smiled while the other two looked impassive. 

"I'll have a blueberry muffin and cappuccino." The girl said blandly. 

"Would you like the muffin warmed?" I asked keeping on my server smile. 

"Yes please." She answered. 

"I'll have a onion bagel with veggie cream cheese, toasted with a large black coffee." Corey said with a small smile. 

"I'll have a pineapple mango smoothie." The last man said, I smiled and turned around and went to make their orders. It only took a few minutes, and when I was done I gave them their things and was turning to leave when Corey stopped me. 

"Ummm Shiloh?" I turned back to him and sent him a small smile. 

"Yes?" I asked kindly. 

"How is Malachai?" He asked with a sad look on his face, the other two looked at him like he had two heads. 

"How would she know Core?" The girl asked. 

"Shiloh is his mate." Corey said simply before turning back to me. 

"I can't believe she didn't reject his unholy self." The other man sneered looking at me with distaste. I shied away as I began to get uncomfortable. 

"Damon!" Corey growled. 

"Ummm..I have other people to serve." I said backing up and going to my other tables and serving them. After about two minutes the door to the café chimed and Kai walked in looking concerned. He found me behind the counter and walked up in nothing but his red shorts. 

"Are you okay baby?" He asked quietly pulling me into his warm embrace. 

"Yeah, I'm okay Kai....um all of your siblings are here." I said just as quietly. He tensed up and looked down at me before nodding and setting his head down into my shoulder taking a few deep breaths. I kissed his shoulder before he stood up straight rising to his full height. He kissed my forehead once more before turning and leaving. 

(K: I love you baby.) He said into our private link. 

(S: I love you too Kai.) I responded before serving my tables and heading back to Corey's table and clearing it. 

"He's changed." Corey said in a small voice.

"Time and experiences do that to people." I responded without thinking, I left them with that. They were still sitting there when my shift was over. I left and found Kai waiting outside with his arms crossed over his chest. He was wearing blue skinny jeans with a white tee and black leather jacket making him look really intimidatingly and unapproachable. Artemis ran up to him and sat on his combat boots, he lifted her up and pulled me into his chest softly before placing a small chaste kiss on my lips. He nuzzled my cheek and I smiled showing off my dimples. He set Artemis back down as the door to the café opened behind me. I turned to see Kai's siblings standing there looking at us, Corey and Sara looked awestruck while Damon looked like a douche bag. 

"What do you want?" Kai asked pulling me into his right side protectively. 

"I just wanted to see you." Corey whined, "like I said yesterday I miss you Malachai." Kai released a tense breath and ran his left hand through his hair while clenching his jaw. 

"She's pretty big brother, the moon goddess blessed you." Sara said looking at Kai with turquoise eyes that were similar to his. 

"Yeah she did." Kai said looking down at me tucked underneath his arms. 

"If you say so." Damon said neutrally. "You should introduce her to mom and dad and see what they say."

"Why would I care about what they said Damon, I never have, and I never will." Kai said coldly before looking back down at me. "Let's head home, Stephen is coming over for a while." I nodded and we turned away and walked to our car, I slid in with Artemis on my lap and took Kai's hand interlocking our fingers. When we got home I took off my shoes and bolted to the kitchen and began making dinner hoping to the moon goddess Stephen liked pasta. I made shrimp alfredo with angel hair noodles and cheesy garlic bread to go with it. 

"Smells good love." Kai said walking into the kitchen with Stephen right behind him. Both Stephen and Shane were a hair taller than Kai, and shorter than Harlem at (6 ft 5), he looked like Shane with ivory skin brown hair and hazel eyes. 

"I hope you guys like shrimp." I said handing them their plates with the pasta and garlic bread. I went to the table and smiled when Stephen used Bert and Elenore. I began eating after Stephen did munch happily on my food. 

"Tastes good Shiloh." Stephen complimented making me flash my dimples at him. Once we were done eating Stephen propped his elbows on the table and folded his hands before sighing and looking between Kai and I. "Malachai, I have a favor to ask of you." He said getting to the reason he stopped over. 

"What can I do for ya?" Kai asked sitting back in his chair. 

"I'm going back out on the road, I would like you to come along. It is exhausting being the only wolf at the Alpha table without a mate." I nodded even though he wasn't talking directly to me.

Kai sighed before answering while running his hand through his hair. "We would have to take Shiloh, which means we have to call ahead and make sure Alpha Harlem is nowhere near the packs we visit." Stephen nodded and leaned back in his chair. "I'm not leaving her here seeing as she is due to go into heat soon." 

"I understand that." Stephen said before looking at me. "Do you have anything to add?"

"Artemis is gonna have to come too, I don't think I can more than two days without my puppy." I stated seriously while Stephen smirked.

"Good, I'll have a cuddle buddy at night." I giggled while Kai chuckled.

"She'll love that." I commented.

"When do we leave?" Kai asked. 

"Tomorrow morning, I've already told Shane and Pearl." Stephen said. I smiled and got up from the table taking my empty plate to the sink and heading up to the bedroom and packing two suitcases, one for Kai and one for me. I then grabbed my backpack and went down to the living room and packed some of Artemis's things including her favorite blanket and skunk. When I was done I went back out the kitchen where Stephen pulled me into a side hug before leaving, Kai walked over to me and pulled me into his side and kissed the top of my head before leading me up to the bedroom. When he saw the two suitcases he pulled me over to the bed and crawled on top of me pressing his lips to mine in a heated kiss.
