Jenny had been standing there for a while now listening to Alex's conversation with his friends and for everything she heard, she got angrier. It took all the self-control she could muster not to go up there and beat the hell out of Alex. She could take on three of them without breaking a sweat.
Well need I remind you that the "college dropout who waits on tables" single-handedly saw you through law school. Now she's suddenly not good enough for you. Come on, you are better than this. Tony who has been listening to Alex talk was slowly getting angry.
Hey chill out Tony. She didn't do anything anyone hasn't done before. She is not the first and won't be the last. Christine's father owns the law firm she works at and don't forget she's the reason our boy here landed a good job, with a very good salary. Princess got our boy into daddy's firm because she likes him and then you expect him to go on and marry someone else? It's just an entry position now, imagine how far he will go when he becomes the son-in-law of the renowned Barrister Charles. No offense, but Stephanie can't pull that off, at least not in this lifetime. Steve said trying to sound intelligent.
I agree with Steve on that one. A man has got to do what a man has got to do. I appreciate all that Steph did for me. She's a loving and a sweet girl, but I need more and she can't give me what I want. Alex looks at Christine who's in another boot drinking with her friends and they both exchange a slutry look.
Woah man, I know that look. How long have you been tapping that?
I don't kiss and tell Steve, Alex said as he takes a sip from his beer.
I don't believe you Alex. You had a good woman and you have been cheating on her just so you can get barbie doll over there to get daddy to give you a job? Seriously?
Come on Tony stop being a wimp. I would tap that ass too if I were in his place. Really Alex is she as good as I think she is? Steve said turning to Alex
Whatever you are thinking, multiply it by a hundred. Alex replied with a sense of pride.
Yoooo! That's wild! Dude!
I'm sorry guys, but I can't do this. I can't be a party to this. It goes against everything I believe in. Standing up and shaking his friends, Tony makes a move to leave.
Alex, I sure hope you are making the right decision and you don't regret it.
***
Just as Tony turns around to leave, he sights Steph a few meters away. He knows immediately that she heard everything or at least most of what they said. She looked lost and she had tears rolling down her eyes.
Steph what are you doing here?
Did you he...
Hmm. Look, I'm sorry you had to hear all that okay. Don't beat yourself up, you did nothing wrong. In fact, if anyone should be sorry, it should be Alex. He just missed out on a great lady. Look, I have to go before I loose it and break my friend's nose.
When Jenny heard the guy Tony say Steph, her blood ran cold. How did Steph get out of bed? How did she know to come here? She thought she was being discreet when she left the house. She was hoping Steph would have a clean break and after hearing everything Alex said, she was happy Steph wasn't going to marry him. One thing Tony was wrong about though was, although he couldn't break Alex's nose, she would make sure she sends him to the ER.
Like a robot, Steph walked up to Alex who had no idea she was there and slapped him. She might be seen as weak and feeble, but she did have some strength in her hands. After years of waiting tables, she had built some arm strength.
I can't believe you did this to me. So, after getting you the shinny law degree that you are so proud of, I am suddenly not good enough for you, right? What happened to I will love you for eternity? Well, I guess your definition of eternity was only till you get another woman who can take you to the next level.
You are a sorry excuse of a man and I can't believe I loved you. I may be a college dropout who waits on tables, but I am not ashamed of it. It is an honest job that pays my bills and has paid yours too for the past three years.
I am still a hundred times better than a douche bag who relies on a woman to send him to school and pay all his bills.
So you are right. We certainly are not on the same level. Since you have a good job now and a good salary, then it's okay that I cancel the lease on your apartment and also your cards right? It would be embarrassing if it was heard that a common waitress was paying Barrister Alex's rent.
You can keep everything else that I got you. That's my last bit of mercy for all the love we've shared. And to think I was coming to beg you not to break up.
I thought I was the problem, but I was wrong. There's nothing wrong with me. You know Tony is right. If anyone should be sorry, it should be you Alex. I am a great woman, I didn't know that before but listening to you say all that crap with this asshole you call a friend has indeed an been eye-opener for me. It made me realize that I am the prize and that you are not worth my tears, so thank you.
Woah! Jenny had never seen Steph in this light before. It was really amazing to see her girl step up like this and give it to Alex. Initially, she was scared that Steph would break down after hearing everything that Alex and Steve said, but she didn't expect that to be the driving force that would get her friend to stand up for herself. Right now Steph was all shades of cool, like, Wonder Woman cool. She had been thinking of ways to hurt Alex but after what Steph just did, she didn't have to do anything anymore, well except, of course, to break his nose.
And one more thing Alex, I might not be good in bed, you aren't great either. I've had better, and I think you need to take lessons or sooner or later Missy over there will find herself a better toy.
Let's go Jenny.
It took Jenny a few seconds to come down from cloud 9. Now that is what we call a smackdown!
Just one second baby, I need to do something first. Jenny goes to Alex and punches him hard in the face. Then turns to Steve and gives him a heavy punch in the stomach. Now that's for saying s**t about my girl assholes. And Alex, you have until Sunday to get your stuff out of the apartment. Left to me, I would have said tomorrow, but I know my girl would want to give you some time to get another place. After all, she once loved you. You have till 12 noon on Sunday. Enjoy your life mother******
Now we can go baby.
