The Breakup 2

I don't know Jenny, I don't! Stephanie replied. It doesn't make any sense to me. I left his place this morning, and before I left we made love. I only left his place to cover Luke's shift at the diner. I stopped by the house to get a few things I was going to take back to his place. She continued still confused at what was really going on. You know he's been asking me to move in for a while now and I've been hesitant because I love my space. I was going to finally move in with him, and I was going to tell him that tonight. I went to the kitchen to get some water when I received his call this evening and that's when he dropped the bomb on me. He said he was sorry and that he couldn't do it anymore. And then he just broke up with me. I tried calling him back but his number wouldn't connect no matter how much I tried. How can he just break up with me Jenny? How? Stephanie started sobbing again. Shhhh baby don't cry. Let me try calling him okay, please don't cry. (As if seeing a glimmer of hope) Please put it on speaker, I want to hear what he has to say. Can you use your other number? I suspect something, but I'm not so sure. Call him with the number he has first. Okayyy. I'm not sure why you asked me to do that, but sure. (The number you are trying to call is out of coverage, please try again later) Maybe it's the network. Let me try again. Hmm that's strange. I called him this morning when I couldn't reach you and he told me you had gone to work. I wonder why his number isn't reachable anymore. Can you try him again, but this time with your other number? Okay Ring ring! That's strange, it's actually ringing. Please put it on speaker. Hello who is this? Hey Alex it's Jenny. Sorry Jenny who? I don't have this number. Seriously Alex, Jenny who? How many Jenny's do you know? You can't tell from my voice? Anyways it's Jennifer, Stephanie's best friend. This is my private number. I tried calling you with my regular number, but it wasn't connected, so I decided to call you with my private number. So Alex I... (Dial tone) Wait, did he just hang up on me? Let me try him again. (The number you are trying to call is out of coverage, please try again later). Oh hell no! This motherfucker didn't just hang up on me, did he? Urrgh! God help me, I'm about to mess somebody up. Did this fool just block...nah! It had better be network cos if Alex blocked me, so help me God that bastard is dead.(The number you are trying to call is out of coverage, please try again later) (Sobbing gently) Why doesn't he love me anymore? Am I not good enough? Oh, come on Steph, don't say that. Of course, you are good enough baby, you are the best. Who wouldn't love a sweet girl like you? So why did Alex break up with me (more tears flowing down her eyes)? I really love him Jenny. I was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with him. Why did he break up with me? He couldn't even do it in person, he broke up on the phone. Was it the s*x? I know I am not that good, but I can learn. I even downloaded some p**n so that I can watch and learn how those girls do it. No, no, no. Stop that Steph. Don't do this. Don't ever look down on yourself. It's true Jenny. I've caught him watching p**n before when he thought I was sleeping. It's the s*x. John left me because I wasn't good in bed. He said I wasn't exposed enough and that he was too bad for me and he didn't want to destroy my innocence. (Now sniffing and slurring) Remember Tjay? The first time we had s*x, he outrightly told me I sucked and that I needed to go take some lessons and just maybe he would consider dating me for real. I thought Alex was different. I thought he loved me. He always told me I was perfect the way I am. Well I guess he was lying and just like others, he left because I wasn't good enough. What's wrong with me Jenny? Why can't I be sexy like other women? Stop it Steph, just stop it, okay. So you've dated douche bags, one too many if you ask me, but so what? You are a sweet girl and any man should be happy to have you. Come here baby, let's get you to bed. You've cried enough already. Everything will be fine. Jenny gently closes the bedroom door after finally putting Steph to sleep. She goes to the kitchen to get a snack. While she dials a number. Yo, Spikes what's kicking Jenny love, it's been a while babe. You forgot your homie. What's up with you, where you been? Sorry man, been around. I need a huge favour from you. You remember my girl Steph? Steph? Your cute brunnet friend? Yeah exactly. Some douche bag just broke her heart and I need to teach him a lesson. I will send you his number, I need you to help me track him down and send me his location. The bastard rudely ended a call on me and blocked me. Oh boi! Who might the unfortunate dude be? Just send me his number and I will get you his location in 20 minutes. Thanks man, I owe you one. Yes you do, and I intend to collect Jenny. (Ping) I just got the number. Let me work my magic and I will send you his location and how to get there. Bye Jenny, and don't be a stranger. *** Club Seven There was loud music playing and the dance floor was full. To the left side of the club, ladies could be heard screaming to the guys performing a strip tease. It seemed like a bachelorette party going on and the bride to be could be seen on the stage waving some money at the male dancer giving her a lap dance. Jenny walked into the club and scanned the environment. She was quite shocked when she received the location from Spikes and had to ask him again if he got the right address. When he double-checked and confirmed it was, then she made her way down to the club. She was crazy, but strip clubs weren't exactly her go-to place to relax and have fun. As she scanned the environment, she could feel the blinding testosterone in the atmosphere. She silently scanned the place trying to get where exactly Alex was. And then she smelt him. Even with the mixture of different perfumes and strong hormones in the air, she could still identify his scent. Alex had a thing for using very strong perfumes. It always felt like he needed everyone to know whenever he was present. She sighted him on the second floor of the club sharing drinks with some friends. It was like he was celebrating something. He was here having drinks and celebrating while Steph was home balling her eyes out. Nah! There was no way Jenny was going to let him celebrate without giving him a piece of her mind. So she marched up to the second floor to confront him. *** Wow, congratulations man, you hit the jackpot on this one. She's a real looker. Woah Alex, you really are lucky man. How do get them girls? First it was the brunette, and now you have a very beautiful and sexy blonde. Steve one of Alex's friends, asked. Man, I thought you were going to wife Steph. You guys have been together for two years now, and you seemed damned serious about her. Bursting into laughter and spitting his drink all over the place, Steve couldn't help it as he looked at Alex and then at Tony who had just spoken. Come on man, you are joking right? Alex, wife Steph? That has to be the joke of the century. What's wrong if he marries her? She's beautiful, caring, sexy and will make a good wife. Tony refuted. Beautiful? Maybe a 7. Caring? I will give her a 10 because she did see homeboy here through law school, but sexy? Come on man, be real. Have you seen Christine? That's a solid 10 man. Who would see Christine and pick Steph? Be real man, be real. Wait I'm not even talking to you Steve, I know you like plastic. I'm talking to Alex. Putting his hands in the air, hey I am not offended. A guy likes what he likes. The more plastic, the better. Yeah right. So Alex, what happened? I was excited when we got the ring. I was happy even that my man was finally off the market. Then we come here and I see that the bride has changed. No offense dude, but how did you go from Steph to Christine? They are miles apart. Tony asked expressing his shock and confusion. None taken dude. Like you said, they are miles apart. Using his hand to demonstrate, Christine is so over here (gesturing to the top) and Steph is way over here (gesturing below). Christine is a lawyer and works in a good firm, and Steph, she's just a waitress. I am a lawyer and I have to marry someone of my status. So imagine going to an important gathering with my wife, and then I have to introduce her. Do I say" Oh meet my wife, she's a college dropout and waits on tables" . How do I hold my head high in the industry? With Christine on the other hand, it's more like, meet my wife, Barrister Christine. Doesn't that sound better? Come on man, be real.
