3: The Impending Trouble

“Are you sure you don’t want anything?” Mom asked while putting on her coat. I nodded at her before rolling my eyes, my parents are on their way to an out of town convention and they are honored guests so they can’t really miss out on it. Besides, their children are grown ups, we can take care of our own. Or I can take care of my lazy brother. “What about you?” she turned her head to the figure beside me. “Food” my brother answered, making me and mom roll our eyes at him. “We’ll get you food after the convention which is 2 days from now, bud” Dad promised amusement in his voice. Wyn just nodded before slumping on the couch behind me, my brother is so special. I rolled my eyes at the thought. We had the rules and regulations from my parents which we discussed for like an hour, before they finally left. “So what are we going to do for the next 3 and a half days?” I asked my brother, slumping my body beside him on the couch resting my ankles on his knees. “Throw a party?” he sarcastically offered. “We’re too lazy for that! And not that popular” I retorted. “Speak for yourself,” Wyn mocked. I glared at him before I could put another word in the doorbell rang. I looked questionably at my brother, while he too was mirroring my expression. “Did you order something?” I asked him, he shook his head before standing on his feet. I grabbed his arm, making him stop. “I’m taller and bigger than you, sis” he reassures. “I’m still older” I said as he deadpanned and looked at me, before patting my head. I heard his padded steps towards the door, knob being turned and a door being pulled open. My brother’s voice asks something and another voice answers; a deep one, mature. I tip-toed towards the direction of our front door and I see my brother’s back straight conversing with another. I tried to get a better view when my brother turned, making me freeze his eyes blank yet a polite expression on his face. What? “Lys, someone is looking for you,” he said with a casual voice. I don’t remember meeting anyone or anything like that today. I pondered as I walked towards my brother. “Who is—“ I tried to ask and my eyebrow raised when I saw a very tall and broad man in front of me, not that surprising mostly because everyone is much taller than me. But this man is HUGE! He towers my brother’s height for like another 6 or 7 inches and my brother is over 6 feet already despite being young. I gulped, sensing my brother behind me standing firmly. “Can I help you?” I asked the man. He seems to be calm, collected and--- cold. That is a lot of c’s characteristics there but it suits him I guess? “Are you Eirlys Yuki Wynne?” he asks, making me furrow my eyebrows at him. I can feel my brother tensed behind me. No one really states or knows my second name except when it is in a very formal set. “Yes I am” I answered when I noticed I haven’t responded for quite some time. “Can I talk to you in private?” he asks politely, hunting the inside of the house. “I don’t think it’s a good idea, seeing you are a stranger” my brother intercepted which he rudely stated by the tone of his voice. I opened my mouth to reprimand his tone of voice, when the man in front of us chuckled a little. “I guess it makes sense, seeing that your little brother here, is being smart and cautious Ms. Wynne I just had to hand this to you” he amusedly stated, mischief in his eyes dancing playfully. I felt shivers in my spine. He handed me an envelope while smiling at me. He looks like a creep despite the handsome face that he has. “And this one too, I’d be glad to answer your questions just call me” he informs handing me his calling card. “What makes you think I will be calling you?” I asked in seriousness. He only smiled knowingly before telling me, “Because you are” he nodded at me and my brother for dismissal before walking out of our front porch, easily sliding on the driver’s seat of an obvious new, well I think it’s a new car. I was surprised when the passenger seat window opened and an identical face appeared, a joyful smile on the said identical face. “We’ll see you soon, Ms. Wynne” he said in a loud firm voice before sliding the window close before leaving. “What the heck was that?” I asked. “Did you see that?” Wyn asked at the same time. “What do you mean?” I asked him. “The car! Stupid! That was an EVORA!” he said giddily I rolled my eyes at him, “Yeah the car was so cool! Let’s forget the creepy men driving it” I sarcastically stated at him. He flicked my forehead sharply, making me flinch in pain and sported a right hook on his arm. “You’re a jerk,” I mumbled. He closed the door and locked it behind me before looking at the envelope in my hands. “What is that anyway?” he asks. “I don’t know” I answered him, out of curiosity I opened it carefully and looked at the contents. “It’s just pa----“ I stated and halted in my words my eyes widening at the words written on it. “How long do you think before she calls you?” a man with an amused expression in his face asked the stoic one. “Not long” the latter answers.
