1: Snowdrop and her grace
Slowly rousing from slumber, my eyes opening to its capacity, golden hues gently creeping on the privacy of my room. Stretching my stiff limbs, a yawn erupting from me rubbing my eyes with my fists. I got up and went to my bathroom, raven dark curls sticking from every direction I groaned rolling my eyes. I washed my face, gazing again at my reflection on the mirror, and smiled. Today is going to be a good day.  Tying the laces of my shoes, I sling my bag on my shoulders and went downstairs. As I neared my destination, I came across my favorite sound in the morning, the obnoxious voices filling the corners of the room wherever they were. I went to my seat and a cup of hot chocolate was habitually put down the second I sat down.  “Good Morning Dove” a cheery and warm voice greeted me, I turned my head and I was met by identical hazel brown eyes.  “Morning Ma” I greeted back smiling at her.  She smiled back at me before turning to her task again, stirring another cup before walking towards her seat which is the opposite of mine. She brought down the cup and kissed the recipient of the said cup.  “Morning Pa” I greeted, he turned to me grumbling a short “morning” and quickly taking a sip from his cup. He’s a bear when he doesn’t have his cup of coffee filled during the mornings. I chuckled at the thought.  “Lys? What time is your dismissal today?” I heard a voice to my left, I tilted my head a bit. Before checking my schedule in my memory 4 subjects.  “Probably earlier than the usual” I answered slowly, double checking if I’m right and nodded in finality.  “Can you drive me to Geo’s in the afternoon?” his deep voice not hinting even a little bit of the high pitched ones that I was used to.  “What for?” I asked.  He rolled his eyes at me explaining that they have to do a group project and the sooner they start it the sooner they’ll finish it. Not that my brother is an uptight nerd or anything, he's just lazy. He prefers it to do everything earlier so he can have more time lazing around. And he’s not bad in academics either, he’s a lazy genius but he would never admit it.  After a series of nodding on my part not really minding the words that came from his mouth. I will as usual agree on anything I just like making them think I’m difficult to please. I can cackle evilly by the thought but scoffed against it.  “Come on you two! Arwyn’s going to be late for school. Stop picking on your brother Lys!” My Ma interrupted. I gave her a playful glare before following my brother who didn’t even bother to say goodbye to them.  “See you later Ma and Pa!” I yelled while following my grumpy brother towards the garage. I saw him standing impatiently on the side of my car. I rolled my eyes at him before unlocking it. I jump to the driver’s seat buckling in and turning to my brother if he did the same thing. Seeing that he did, I slowly eased out from our garage and made our way. I first went to my brother’s high school, dropped him off and drove to my college.  I parked my car, and walked towards my first subject building. My bag straps held firmly on my shoulder when I heard a ping, informing me that I had a notification. I took my phone out of my pocket. I got a message from Hanae saying she’s waiting for me at the entrance. As I neared the building I could make out her familiar figure, she turned her head towards my direction, she waved at me and I jogged towards her.  “Hey Lys” she greeted me clinging to my arm. I smiled at her in greeting. And we both went our way towards our designated class rooms.  “You finished your papers on Professor Rivera’s class yet?” she asked me. I nodded at her, while she groaned that she’s still on it.  “You do know that it’s still due next week? How come you finished it already?” she complained, pouting her lips. Not being biased at all because she’s my best friend or anything, she's really beautiful.  “Stop making that face, you look like a duck” I complained to her. She mocked gasping glaring at me playfully.  We went back and forth with insults to each other leaving us in fits of laughter in the end. A few more stairs and I walked her in her own room habitually because her room is on the way to mine.  An architecture student and an engineering student, some subjects are significant to each other so sometimes it’s the same building so we sometimes pass by each other. It’s convenient to us, because we’re both not that social and content with just the company of each other.  I arrived at my room, only a few are here yet. So I went to my seat and took a book to pass the time and while waiting for the professor to arrive, I glanced towards the near window. The sky is so clear, clouds sprinkled a little here and there. And the leaves from the trees gently sway because of the wind.  It’s a beautiful day But how come I feel that it won’t be good? _____________________________________________________________________________________ “Deadline of it is on the 28th, so I’ll be expecting papers on my table. Goodbye” the deep voice of our major subject professor dominated the room. We only nodded in understanding. I sighed in relief before taking my notes and pens and putting it in my bag.  “Lys!” someone called out to me so I turned to the person.  “Are you coming with us tonight, there’s a new club opening?” Freya asked, expecting an answer.  “Uh, I don’t know, clubs are not really my scene” I answered lamely wincing a little. It’s too loud, sweaty and there are lots of people.  “Oh come on! You never go out with us, just this once. You can even bring your friend” Dylan countered.  “Oh yeah, the architecture student, what was her name? Hann something?” Bailey butted in.  “Hanae? I can’t say on behalf of her, it’s really not our scene besides I don’t know her schedule today” I helped out.  Well Hann doesn’t like crowded places too and her parents are strict to an extent even though we’re now in college and beyond the legal age. Besides we prefer picnics or going to the library, we’re pretty much homebody’s, movie marathons or just food tripping.  Seeing the dejected looks and consistency in Freya’s eyes, I know she’s still going to pursue me until the end of the day. I sighed mentally, “Alright, I’ll try but no promises” I finally gave in.  They whooped, making me roll my eyes at them. Freya gave me her number before walking out. They seem to be excited for this activity, I dread for the time I’ll be convincing Hann this afternoon. “I’m in” Hanae said,  “What? What do you mean you’re in?” I asked in disbelief looking at her with a raised eyebrow.  “I said I’m in” she said in a duh tone.  “I’m not—even finished, we’re going to a club tonight” I emphasized. She rolled her eyes at me before looking at me with a “you’re an i***t”.  I scratched my cheek absent-mindedly, “Fine we’re going” I sighed before shooting Freya a message confirming.    After a few hours of doing school work we took turns on finding some outfit for the said occasion. Hanae is currently rummaging in my closet, we’re almost the same size anyway. She's just taller than me, she has a soft slim figure whereas I am on the curvy side. After a few minutes of brainstorming we decided on the tuxedo dresses that I have, hers was a white one which she paired with a brown belt paired with knee brown length boots, while I have a black one with a silver chain belt, black tights and the black stilettos. I let my curls as it is and I saw Hann just combed her straight brown hair. Applying some decent make up, we don’t know much how to apply anyway just as we were making our way downstairs we came across Mom.  “Where are you two going?” she asks with a raised eyebrow.  “Some club, we were invited to come, I don’t really want to go but Han wants to” I honestly answered.  “Did you inform your parents?” she asked Han.  “Yep, they were busy when I asked” Han answered mischievously with a smirk on her face.  Mom rolled her eyes at her used to Hann’s tactics, “Did you drive Aloy to Geo’s?” she asks. I nodded at her and she smiled at me, she told us her rules and be back when we feel like it. We nodded at her before bidding her goodbye. We climbed in my car and drove off.   After an hour we arrived at the said club’s destination, Han climbing out first before I turned off the engine and let myself out too. The night’s temperature is chilling, but I didn’t bother to do it, we won’t be staying outside anyway. After locking my car, I followed Han’s trail towards the entrance. I saw a long line from it. It’s a blockbuster. I hummed to myself. Han stared at me before holding onto my arm. She looks excited, as we walk we come across a group with familiar body structures as I identify them, they’re my classmates waiting for us. I saw Freya’s head turn and smiled dazzlingly when she recognized me.  “You came! Oh my God! You two look gorgeous!” She exclaimed, eyes widening.  I scrunched up my nose and turned to Han who was staring at me too. We both shrugged and turned towards Freya and the other’s dropped jaw. They are so weird. Freya snapped from her daze and stood straightly before elbowing the person next to her , Dylan who was looking at Han that made my eyebrow lift. Dylan snapped out of it when he saw me and coughed awkwardly.  “Shall we go in?” I asked, gesturing the line.  “It's a long line though” Han interrupted.  “Oh no worries about that!” Freya said meaningfully.  Her aura seemed to change for a split second when she looked at me but changed instantly to the cheerful and giddy person. That change even in a split second made my mind plant a seed of doubt about her. It’s so odd.  But I shrugged it off, probably the overthinking self-defense adrenaline came rushing too fast. I held Han’s arm in a tighter hold than a tight one, I don’t want to alarm her. She knows me too well in some gestures.
