For a thousand years, the kingdom of Aqualis has lived under the protection of the sea.Its waters are said to be blessed by an ancient goddess whose power once stretched across every river, lake, and ocean. She was beautiful beyond mortal imagination, powerful enough to command storms, and feared even by kings. But the goddess disappeared. No one knows exactly what happened to her. Some legends say she was betrayed by the man she loved.Others say she sacrificed herself to save the kingdom from destruction. And some believe she was never truly gone. For generations, the people of Aqualis have passed down the same warning:When the sea turns black, the moon disappears from the water, and a woman rises from the waves, the Water Goddess will return. And when she returns, nothing will ever be the same. For centuries, the prophecy remained nothing more than an old story.Until the night the ocean changed. The fishermen of Aqualis are the first to notice it.The normally peaceful sea suddenly becomes violent. Waves rise higher than the palace towers. The sky darkens without warning, and a strange blue light appears beneath the surface of the water. Then, one by one, the fishermen begin disappearing.Ships are found abandoned.Boats return to shore with no one aboard. And strange whispers begin coming from the ocean at night. The king orders everyone to stay away from the sea.But the warnings come too late.Because someone has already returned. On the night of the greatest storm Aqualis has ever witnessed, a young woman is found lying unconscious on a deserted shore. She has no belongings. No memories. No idea where she came from. And strangely, she doesn't seem afraid of the ocean. When she opens her eyes, the storm immediately stops. The waves become calm. The clouds disappear. And the moon shines directly over her.The villagers who find her are terrified. One old woman takes a single look at the mysterious stranger and falls to her knees. She recognizes the symbol glowing faintly against the woman's skin.A symbol that hasn't been seen for a thousand years. The symbol of the Water Goddess. But before anyone can ask the woman who she is, the mark disappears. The woman remembers only one thing.A voice calling her name from beneath the water.A voice telling her:"You have returned."She is taken to the royal palace, where she is questioned by the king and his council. But every question creates more mysteries.Who is she?Why does she have no memories? Why can she control water without trying? And why do the ancient magical barriers surrounding Aqualis react to her presence? There is only one person who refuses to believe that she is the goddess from the legends.Prince Adrian, heir to the throne.Adrian has spent his entire life hearing stories about the Water Goddess. To him, she is nothing more than a myth used to frighten children and entertain tourists. He refuses to believe that an ancient goddess could suddenly appear in human form.Especially not in the form of a mysterious young woman who doesn't even know her own name.Yet the more time Adrian spends around her, the harder it becomes to deny what he sees.Water moves whenever she is angry.Rain follows her emotions.Flowers bloom when she touches them. And when she dreams, the entire palace begins to flood. There is something inside her.Something ancient.Something powerful.Something that even she doesn't understand.Adrian is ordered to keep watch over her.At first, he treats her like a threat. She treats him like an arrogant prince.Their meetings are filled with arguments, suspicion, and unanswered questions. But beneath the tension, something neither of them expects begins to grow.A connection.A dangerous one.Adrian begins noticing the little things about her.The way she stares at the ocean as though she recognizes it.The way her expression changes whenever someone mentions the ancient goddess. The way she seems frightened whenever she hears a certain melody. And the way she looks at him as though she has known him for much longer than either of them can remember. For reasons Adrian cannot explain, he feels as though he has met her before. But that is impossible.Or is it?As the woman's memories slowly begin returning, she starts having visions. She sees a palace beneath the ocean. She sees herself wearing a crown made of pearls. She sees hundreds of people bowing before her.She sees a man standing beside her.A man whose face she cannot remember. And she sees blood covering the water.Every vision ends the same way. With Adrian standing before her.And a knife in his hand. She doesn't understand what it means. But the visions make her afraid of him.Because perhaps the greatest danger isn't the enemy outside the palace.Perhaps it is the man she is beginning to fall in love with.Meanwhile, strange things are happening throughout Aqualis. The sea creatures are behaving strangely.Ancient statues are beginning to crack.A forgotten tem

Chapter 1:The woman beneath the waves
The sea had never screamed before. At least, that was what the old fishermen of Aqualis believed. For generations, the ocean had been their greatest blessing. It fed their families, carried their ships across distant lands, and protected the kingdom from enemies who dared approach by water. But on the night the moon disappeared, the sea began to scream. It started with a whisper. A low, haunting sound that drifted through the fishing village shortly after midnight. Then the wind changed. Doors slammed open. Windows rattled violently against their frames. Fishing boats that had been safely tied to the docks began pulling against their ropes as though something beneath the water was trying to drag them into the darkness. An old fisherman named Tomas stepped outside his cottage. He immediately froze. The ocean was glowing. Not blue. Not silver. Black. The entire surface of the water had turned as dark as ink, while strange blue lights moved beneath it. Tomas's heart pounded. He had heard stories about this. Stories his grandfather had told him when he was a child. Stories about the woman who ruled the sea long before the first king of Aqualis sat upon the throne. The Water Goddess. Tomas had never believed the legend. Until now. A massive wave suddenly rose in the distance. The fisherman stumbled backward. "Everyone, get inside!" he shouted. But before anyone could move, lightning split the sky. There was no thunder. Instead, a woman's voice whispered across the shore. "Finally." Tomas stared at the ocean. A second voice followed. "She has returned." Then the wave crashed. Hundreds of miles away, inside the royal palace of Aqualis, Prince Adrian woke from a nightmare. He sat upright, breathing heavily. His bedroom was dark except for the faint moonlight entering through the curtains. For several seconds, he couldn't remember where he was. He could still feel the cold water around his body. He could still hear someone crying. And he could still see her. A woman standing in the middle of an endless ocean. Her long dark hair floated around her like black silk. Water surrounded her body without touching her skin. She had looked directly at him. And somehow, Adrian had known her. Not recognized her. Known her. As though he had spent a lifetime searching for her. Then she had whispered his name. "Adrian." He had reached for her. And she had disappeared beneath the water. The prince rubbed his face. "It was only a dream." A loud knock came from his door. "Your Highness?" Adrian looked toward the entrance. "Come in." The door opened, revealing Captain Elias, commander of the royal guard. The captain looked unusually pale. "Your Highness, you need to come with me." Adrian frowned. "What happened?" "The sea." Adrian's expression changed. "What about it?" Captain Elias hesitated. "The fishermen are reporting something strange." "Strange?" "They say the ocean has changed." Adrian stood. "How?" "The water has turned black." Silence filled the room. Adrian suddenly remembered the woman from his dream. "How many people saw it?" "Everyone along the eastern coast." "And the king?" "Already informed." Adrian grabbed his coat. "Take me to him." The throne room was filled with frightened voices. Advisers stood around the king, arguing over one another. "The fishermen must be exaggerating." "There are dozens of reports!" "It could be an earthquake beneath the sea." "Then why are the animals fleeing the coast?" "Enough!" King Alaric's voice silenced the room. He sat rigidly upon his throne, his fingers gripping the armrests. Adrian entered. "Father." The king looked at him. "You're awake." "I was informed about the sea." "Then you know why you shouldn't be here." Adrian frowned. "Why?" The king looked toward the enormous windows overlooking the kingdom. Because beyond the palace walls, the storm was beginning. "Something has awakened," he said quietly. Adrian stared at him. "What?" The king didn't answer. Instead, an elderly woman stepped forward from among the royal advisers. She was the kingdom's oldest historian, Lady Miriam. Her hands trembled as she held an ancient book against her chest. "Your Majesty," she whispered, "we need to consider the possibility that the legend is true." Several advisers exchanged uncomfortable glances. Adrian scoffed. "The Water Goddess?" Lady Miriam looked directly at him. "Yes." "She's a story." "No." Her voice was strangely calm. "She was a warning." Before Adrian could respond, the palace shook. A deafening boom came from outside. Everyone turned toward the windows. A wall of water had appeared beyond the city. It was enormous. Far too enormous. It rose above the rooftops like a living creature. Adrian stared in disbelief. Then the water stopped. For one impossible moment, the entire kingdom became silent. The wave remained suspended in the air. And then it slowly lowered. Not crashing. Not destroying. Simply retreating. Lady Miriam's face had gone white. "It's beginning." Adrian looked at her. "What is beginning?" She opened the ancient book. Her finger stopped on a faded drawing. It showed a woman standing before an enormous ocean. Beneath the picture were several words written in an ancient language. Lady Miriam translated them quietly. "When the sea turns black, the lost queen shall return." Adrian's stomach tightened. "The lost queen?" "The Water Goddess." The storm continued until dawn. By morning, the kingdom was covered in silence. The fishermen refused to return to sea. The guards were ordered to patrol the coastline. And the king commanded that no one leave the city without permission. But the palace could not control the rumors. The goddess had returned. The goddess was angry. The goddess had come for revenge. Everyone had a different story. Yet no one knew the truth. No one knew that beneath the cliffs beyond the eastern village, something had happened during the storm. Something the kingdom would soon discover. At sunrise, a young fisherman named Kian walked along the shore searching for survivors. The storm had destroyed several boats. Broken pieces of wood were scattered across the sand. He had almost turned back when he noticed something unusual. A hand. Kian stopped breathing. Someone was lying near the water. A woman. She was completely still. Her long hair was spread across the wet sand. Kian rushed toward her. "Miss?" No response. He knelt beside her and checked for a pulse. Nothing. His heart dropped. Then her fingers moved. Kian jumped backward. The woman suddenly inhaled. Her eyes opened. They were a strange shade of deep blue. For several seconds, she stared at the sky as though seeing it for the first time. Then she turned toward the ocean. A single tear rolled down her cheek. Kian stared. The sea behind her began moving. Not violently. Almost peacefully. As though it recognized her. The woman slowly sat up. "Where am I?" Kian swallowed. "Aqualis." She looked at him. "Aqualis?" "Yes." She frowned. "Who am I?" Kian didn't know what to say. The woman looked down at her hands. She had no jewelry. No belongings. Nothing that could explain where she had come from. But there was something strange on her wrist. A faint symbol glowed beneath her skin. Kian leaned closer. "What is that?" The woman looked down. The symbol disappeared. She touched the place where it had been. "I don't know." A sudden headache struck her. She cried out and grabbed her head. Images flashed through her mind. A palace beneath the ocean. Thousands of people kneeling. A crown. A man. His face was blurred. But she could feel his hand holding hers. Then blood. So much blood. And a voice. A man's voice. Whispering through the darkness. "I will find you again." Her eyes opened. She was trembling. Kian stared at her. "What did you see?" She looked at him. "I don't know." Then she heard something. A whisper from the sea. Her eyes widened. "What?" Kian heard nothing. The woman slowly stood. The ocean was completely calm. But she could hear it. A voice calling her. Calling her home. She took one step toward the water. Kian grabbed her arm. "Don't." She looked at him. "Why?" "Because no one goes into the sea after what happened last night." She stared at the waves. For some reason, she felt as though the ocean was waiting for her. Then another voice whispered inside her mind. Not from the sea this time. From somewhere much closer. A name. Seraphina. She gasped. Kian released her arm. "What?" The woman touched her chest. "My name." "What is it?" She looked toward the horizon. "Seraphina." Far away, inside the royal palace, Prince Adrian suddenly woke from another nightmare. Except this time, he wasn't asleep. He was standing before his bedroom window. And on the glass, written in droplets of seawater, was a single name. SERAPHINA. Adrian stared at it. He didn't know who she was. He didn't know why the sea knew her name. And he certainly didn't know why his heart had begun racing the moment he saw it. But somewhere beneath the waves, something ancient had awakened. And it was waiting for them to remember. The Water Goddess had returned.
