Freya’s Pov
I hardly slept.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Dane’s face. The shock and fear when he pulled away. His eyes all gold, fangs out, lost to his wolf.
He almost marked me.
Part of me wanted him to.
That is what scared me. In that moment, with his body on mine, his teeth on my skin, I wanted it. Wanted him to make me his forever.
But then I saw how bad he felt. The shame. The fear. He thought he hurt me.
He did not. Not even a little.
But I could not make him believe it last night. When he walked me to my door and kissed my forehead so careful, it made me want to cry.
“Good night, Freya,” he said with rough voice.
“Good night.”
He walked away fast.
Now it was morning and I did not know what to do.
A knock came.
“Freya?” It was Evie. “You awake?”
