The floor feels cold that it makes Alaia shiver vigorously. From a distant she could hear a scraping sound coming from across the room. Her muscles begin to ache and she could feel a stabbing pain on her left leg. With all her strength she tries to pull herself up with the support of a chair. A dark figure slowly moves closer to her, stretching out to her, wanting to grab her.
"Alaia!", screamed Mrs Crowler. "Alaia, get up. You're late." Alaia pushes her hand away and pulls the bedsheets over her head. "Get ready and have your breakfast. I'm going over to Mrs Gardner's house." Alaia moves her delicate body
off the bed and freshens up.
The streets of Donton remains quiet throughout her journey to Malan Junior High with only the wind whistling by. As she nears the school building she suddenly has a slight vision of her dream yesterday. She wonders why she keeps having the same dream every night. To her it was odd, but deep down it meant something. Apon arriving she meets Sydney Anderson, her best friend and co-worker of The Big One, which is a cafe where they both work after school. Sydney and Alaia have been close friends since second grade and have always been dear to each other.
As class begins, Alaia sits comfortably on her seat looking out the window. She suddenly drifts away into her fantasies and begins daydreaming about her recurring dreams. Silence begins to fall and the voices around her began to slowly disappear. Her mind brings her to a room. The exact same room from her dreams. She stares at the room, chair and her clothes trying to get the big picture. Whatever the reason is, there's only one thing coming into her mind. Fear.
A loud bang takes her out of her thoughts. Sydney stands in front of her, looking down at her with sparkling eyes. "Hey there", says Sydney. "Sydney, hey. You seem to be happy on a Monday morning", Alaia replied.
"Of course I am. Despite being Monday, it's pay day!"
"Well that's great. Maybe I should go buy myself my life back."
"Okay, what's today's problem, Alaia? For the past couple of weeks you have not been yourself at all."
"Like I said before, these dreams I keep on having every night is becoming more intense. I can't function normally. It's draining me from the inside."
"I get it. You know what we should do something fun on Friday. It may help get your mind off of it."
"Fine. I'll do anything to put back the pieces of my body."
As the day ends, Alaia heads home to rest. Alaia spends most of her time in her bedroom lost in her own thoughts. It was true what Sydney has said. Alaia was not weak, fragile and depressed. She was the opposite. Her dreams she thought were temporarily seems to have continued for many days and that has damaged her spirit. She hopes that her next day will not get worse.
Unfortunately her story takes a dark, twisted turn as unpredictable events will occur later that week that will cause destruction and death.
