Damian's POV I was pacing back and forth in my room and Seb's eyes followed my every action. I was contemplating whether I tell my father about this new found problem or I keep it for as long as I can. I fear for my Mate's life. I had a brandy glass and I gulped it in one go. "We haven't proven her identity yet, brother." "I know.. But that doesn't mean we're not onto something." There really is something and I fear it will be a big problem later on. I went to my bookshelves. I don't read that much, Seb's the one bookworm taking all his time in the world in my library. I took a big black book, thick and dusty. I sat at my couch and carefully turned the pages. Seb quickly moved from my side and read the book beside me. It was written down there the origins of Witches. Witches are humans but due to performing witchcraft they unleashed great power that made them into a witch. Witches vary from white witch and black witch. White witches are healers and bringers of the light while black witches practice black magic.... That's the only thing I wanted to read. I didn't have to finish it. I closed the book and stood up. Seb is still following me around waiting for my next move. "She can't be a witch yet if she's not performing witchcraft" I spoke to myself and went for the door. "Great brother, nice to actually have answers huh." I heard Seb joked halfway when I went out of the door. "Welp, you're only useful when needed" he shaked his head. I need to claim her before she does something terrible. Even if I need to force a claim on her I will. ***************** I decided to stop sulking and dressed nicely for a change. I wore a plain shirt and pants with a brown coat and went downstairs. I saw Aunt May fixing her hair, dressed nicely. Wondering where she'll be off to this time? I kissed her cheek and hugged her. "Where are you going Auntie?" "Oh.. you know the usual, social welfare call again" she smiled sweetly at me. "About that... you've been going down the south all too frequent nowadays" "Well... you know how the agency wants to keep us there. A few jobs we needed to finish." She smiled nervously. I just nodded and kissed her again. I brushed off the uncertainty in her voice and said my goodbye to them. Misha was inviting me to their new cabin since it's going to be a long weekend and it's a holiday on Monday. She was all excited while describing the cabin her father bought in the woods. It was still snowing, and I wanted to do something different rather than sulk because of the weather. "Snow, you need to come. Say your coming please..." she pleaded at me and I smiled. "I have to ask Aunt May first." I told her and she acted as if she was sad. "Louis already said yes.. It'll be awkward without you." she pouted. "I also think my Aunt May will be out for days again." I said while tapping my temples with my finger pretending I was thinking. I got startled when Misha gave me a loud shriek and hugged me. We both giggled. "Can we come?" I heard someone asked from the back and it was Damian. He was smiling at me for the first time in a long time. I haven't given him a proper thank you for so many things but coming with us. Just us in the woods? My heart raced a million times. I looked at Misha and motioned my head for a 'No' gesture. She smiled and turned to face Damian at the back.. "Yes of course Damian you can come. Have your friends come along." Misha said while smiling. My eyes widened and I gave her a what-did-you-just-say look. She just smiled at me and whispered. "Get laid" My mouth opened in shock from what she said and she laughed an evil laugh at me. This is not going to be a good weekend. ************** I informed my Auntie by the phone that I won't be back until Monday and that I gave Adel something to eat and drink, since she'll be back tomorrow morning, she can feed Adel when she gets home. She even joked about how Adel can carry on his own, and I laughed on how a mere dog would be able to do that. I packed my 3 days and 2 night clothing, boots for the snow, shoes and my coat. I was taking a few clothes out, when I saw I didn't have a scarf for my neck in my closet. I went to my Auntie's closet to borrow some of hers. I saw a red scarf and took it from her closet and a piece of paper fell down on the floor. I looked down and saw it was a photo. It was my Mom? Aunt May and Mom in one photo, the photo was a bit old since the color had faded but their beauty was still evident. A few tears formed at the corner of my eyes while looking at my mother. She was really beautiful with her long wavy hair, thin lips formed in a smile and she held my Aunties hands. Looking at the photo made me stop from shedding my tears, I realize Auntie looks the same. It's like she never aged, the same beauty as she was today. It felt all so weird and I looked at the photo once more, there was a date. It was taken in 1999 and she still looked the same? What? I dropped the photo and winced at the pain in my head. Not again, I curled my body on the floor, breathing heavy as I saw images form in front of me. I saw Misha walking down the mountain trek of some sort, losing her foot balance and was about to fall in danger. I screamed her name and felt short out of breath. When I looked around I was still inside my Auntie's room. I saw it, I saw something clear for the first time and it feels like a vision of what's going to happen in the future. Although I was still confused why I had to see it, I needed to keep an eye on Misha. I took the photo and hid it inside my coat pouch. *****************          The long ride to Misha's cabin made me think about the vision that I saw earlier. I try to recall the color of her dress. I need to keep her safe. I don't exactly know why, but I had a feeling it was going to happen. We had Damian and Seb come along with us, Kenneth also came, so there's six of us and the driver. I was really thankful Cas and Ana didn't come, it wouldn't be a vacation if those two came along. We finally reached the cabin, the surroundings filled with snow. We took our bags out of the van. It was huge. Again this is the Lane's we're talking about. Someone took my bags for me and I realize it was Damian. "You don't have to." I was about to take it back. "I insist" he smiled at me. He has been a gentleman ever since our trip.. Or maybe he was since then but I was too busy ignoring him. Misha opened the door to let us in and we were more amazed with what's inside. Did I say my best friend is filthy rich? "This is fancy. You're a really lucky girl." Seb smiled at Misha and she just shyly nodded. Wait what was that? "We have 6 rooms here, you can all pick one room but just make sure the room upstairs is for me and Snow only" I chuckled at her for spoiling me too much. It was decorated with animal head and fine wood. There was a big fireplace and tall glass doors overlooking the woods outside. Leather couches in front of the fireplace. A few more doors upstairs that lead to our rooms. I felt Damian closed to me and I turned to him. Shocked by the distance between us I took a step back. "Let me help you with this in your room." he said and I nodded as we went upstairs. I saw Louis looking at us, he seemed angry but I was too focused on how Damian was very much close to me now. I opened the door to the room of my choice and it was beautiful inside. There was a twin size bed in the middle with white covers. Two side lamps on the top of the bed. On the right side there was a big glass window with long curtains and outside of it was a balcony. You can see the view of the woods from here. It was breathtaking. I heard Damian lightly placing my bag on the bed as I walked across the room still amazed. I found him looking at me with something in his eyes, I can't quite discern. I forgot to say thank you again. "I should say thank you." I looked down to the floor suddenly feeling shy. "No problem, your bag wasn't really heavy" he said in a husky voice. "No really. I want to say thank you. For everything, I haven't been thankful to you for the clinic incident" He smiled and I instinctively took a step closer to him. He was startled, stopping me from stepping closer. "Anyway, that was nothing. I'll be heading downstairs" Then he hurriedly went out of the room.
