Four

Damian POV

"I hope you understand what we have talked about."

My father said while sitting in his marvelous chair inside his office.

"Is everything under control?" He drank from his glass of brandy.

"The dead man was yet to be taken care of, but we still don't have any leads" I told him.

I was out on a hunt for days, almost a week and missing a few classes.

We couldn't find who was the real killer of that homeless man.

So to not make it obvious for authorities I was only with a few men tracking the killer.

Seb and the rest still went to school like normal teenagers. 

I saw my father nodded a few times before drinking his brandy again.

"We can't afford to lose our place here" he was worried we'd be discovered.

"We will not. Lose our place here father." I reassured him. He nodded.

"What was it?"

"From its wounds, it should be a rouge." He was silent again and faced his window looking outside.

"I'll have to visit the Mayor's office. He thinks it's one of us." I nodded.

"You can go to school tomorrow, so it won't raise confusion." He instructed me.

I nodded again and went towards the door. 

"Before that--" He stopped me from my tracks.

"Control Ana, she's been irrational lately." My brows furrowed.

"The Chairman told me she almost got into a fight with another girl for bullying a kid."

"Did the Chairman say who was the girl?" my curiosity itched.

"He said it was their top student. I think her name was Snow or something"

I nodded again and went straight out of the room to look for Ana.

"I'm so sorry." Ana was crying in front of me on her knees.

"I was also responsible, Alpha not only Ana." I hear Cas pleaded with her and got down on his knees.

I had a whip in my hands and I was itching to use it.

I had the other wolves inside my den to make an example.

I was still angry for seeing her with that wolf the other night and after seeing her again last night with another boy.

I was definitely furious.

"I need to control your actions Ana." I said with clenched teeth, while I violently grab her jaw as she cries.

"It won't happen again Alpha. I promised." she sobs and I furiously let go of her jaw.

I turn to Cas. Everybody was silent as all of them are afraid when I am angry.

"Seb said you almost hit her." I looked down at him, my eyes glowing in anger.

I can imagine everything from how Seb told me the whole story.

"I'm sorry Alpha, it was a mistake. I did not punch her, it was supposed to be for the kid." Cas pleaded. 

"Okay then.. Damy they said sorry, no hard feelings." Seb calmed me down and I glared at him. 

"Do I seem weak to all of you!" I growled at all of them, making them more silent.

I whipped the vase near me and it shattered to pieces, causing all of them to flinch. 

They are afraid of this. Afraid of the punishment, when someone disobeys the law they need a proper whipping.

"I will not tolerate another antics from anyone. Do you hear me?" I growled at them once more.

I saw a few nods from the watchers and sobbing from Ana. 

"You are dismissed."  

They both hurried along and all of them went out of the room except for my brother.

I threw the whip away and sat exhausted on my sofa.

I heard my brother rustling from my top shelf looking for something.

Only to see him with a bottle of whiskey and two glasses. He held it and sat in front of me.

He poured me a glass of whiskey and poured some for himself. 

"So tell me, what's been bothering you lately." while he sips from his glass.

I sighed and drank from the glass.

"I saw her again with another boy--- human." my stomach hurts from the sight.

"Ooh.. She must be a dream for many man" he joked but I glared at him.

"Okay... Okay... What else can you do? That's her life, she barely knows you."

"Do you think I don't know that?" I sip from the glass and finish it in one gulp.

"Easy there.." Seb poured me another one. 

"The way I see it. You have two options to choose from"

"Oh yeah? What's that?" I asked him, Seb is the smart one here. 

I want to know what he would do if he was in my situation.

Seb never met his mate and he rarely believes he has one.

"You can just brush this off and ignore her for the whole time being until we get back to our own town" 

I scoffed, like that'll be easy, father said it would take much longer than what we all have imagined. 

"Or... You can just claim her." he said while drinking his glass.

"Are you out of your wolf's mind?" 

I know Seb is smart but I never knew I'd hear this from him. 

We hated humans.

Most humans we know are hunters. There are some non- hunter that knows about us but those humans are important, higher people. 

Keeping the balance in this world. 

"It's your option. Take the first, chances are you'll be living a hell of a year. Take the second and you'll be in much more hell."

He gulps his glass down and heads for the door.

"You have to be smart, brother."

I heard him say after leading himself out of the room.

Leaving me with such a big headache.

Everyone was busy at the Lane's residence.

Maids were preparing the pool, foods, decorations and table settings in the garden.

It was a big mansion we needed to set up a few more flower decorations and lightings.

I helped with setting up the tables, while Louis helped some of the butlers with the lightings.

Misha's responsible for the stage decoration for the band and contacting her guesses. 

It was supposed to be a simple party but the Lane's don't know the word simple. I smiled at the thought.

When we were almost done with setting up the tables.

Misha grabbed my arm. "Come here young lady"

"Wait where are we going?" I giggled, Louis smiled at us and she led me to her room. 

"Surprise!" She showed me a very beautiful dress in red. Not too short, not too long.

"Wow. It's lovely this would look good on you." she rolled her eyes at me.

"It's not mine duh?" I furrowed my brows.

"What? Mine? No. Misha. You kept spending for me." 

I was really embarrassed that this dress was mine.

"Come on babe. You know you're like a sister to me. We're both an only child. I want you to wear this at the party tonight, then we can change into our swimsuit later."

She smiled at me while she sat on her bed.

"I really can't. I don't wear dresses, you know that. And... how much is this?"

I am really embarrassed now.

"Are you worried about how you would look in the dress? Or are you worried about how much it cost?" she was laughing at me now, while I pout at her.

"I invited a few guesses you would know, so I want to doll you up."

She hugged me and I finally gave in.

It was finally party time and I was wearing the dress Misha gave me.

It was definitely lovely and I love that my best friend gave it to me.

Louis came to my side and stopped halfway before coming close to me.

"Wow, you look amazing Snow." I blushed at his compliment and did not know how to respond.

Before we can finally fall back to another awkward silence. We saw Misha guiding her Mom in blindfold.

Everyone was happy and excited for the surprise, much more excited than Alice- Mrs. Lane.

There were many guesses, some I know, some I don't, most of them looked like important people by the way they dress.

"Honey, what is this all about." Alice from her blindfold but still with a smile etched in her beautiful mouth.

After Misha's finally positioned her in front of the towering cake. She took off the blindfold.

"Happy Birthday!" We all shouted and clapped. 

Alice was still shocked and looked around happily to everyone.

Her hands on her mouth and we knew she loved the surprise.

"Oh Cara Mia, you shouldn't have." She was tearing to her daughter and kissing her cheeks.

"Okay. Mom please blow your candle first." 

Misha told her smiling as she took the cake from the maid beside them and faced it in front of her mom.

You can see in Alice's face she was really touched by all of it.

She closed her eyes, wished and blew the candle.

Everybody clapped after Alice blew the candle and immediately she went to greet the guesses.

Misha went straight to both me and Louis happily hopping towards us.

She hugged me when she got to us. "She's happy!"

We both giggled as he punched Louis lightly on the arm to say thank you.

"I told you, you can pull it off" we were still in our happy daze.

"That reminds me let's both take you to my mom." 

She pulled us both to Alice, her mom was speaking to other guesses but immediately turned upon seeing us.

She hugged us both one by one, me and Louis.

"Misha told me this was Louis' idea in the first place." her face was full of delight and instantly Louis shyly nodded his head.

"Mom, Snow helped out at almost everything." Alice gave me her beautiful smile and hugged me tight. 

She was 40yrs old now and yet she looked like she was only in her 30's.

"I have a few guesses to attend to honey. Why don't you guys eat first before dipping in the pool" she told us with a smile as more guesses were coming inside.

She waved at us and we went off towards the buffet tables.

We were about to take our food, when my eyes saw a familiar face.

I was shocked to finally get a good look at the face. 

It was that guy, from our school, the guy who's been burning my mind.

He was in a nice dress suit that hugged his body and his hair was neat to the side. 

He was with someone older than him but looked really handsome in his black hair and bearded face. 

I quickly tug Misha at the side of the garden making her turn to me.

"What are they doing here?" 

I asked her and pointed to the man I have been looking at.

"Oh... about that babe.." she was saying something but I couldn't make out what it is.

"What seems to be the problem?" Louis asked us while holding his own plate.

"They were one of my Mother's important people. They were on the list" she told us. 

Louis looked at where my eyes were. 

He was now looking at me. 

Those pair of blue eyes.
