Arrogant Love

"Some memories are sweet and some are filled with regrets and for me the memories I got yesterday from the wedding reception of the Nworie's is a memory filled with regrets. Why didn't I know that Rita admired me, why didn't I know that she needed more than the little friendship I gave to her and the worse is why didn't It ever occur to me that she is a wife material?. Indeed I lost a companion by my own actions and for not paying attention to the signals coming to me from a lady that would have been a perfect match and the mother of my children. What should I do now!! She is already taken and she is even a mother of two kids, I have messed up, indeed this error was caused by me and no one else. I think Ann, Rita's sister in-law is not bad, she appears calm, nice, smart and she is even a beautiful damsel also. Oh Philip you need to go for her now before someone out smart me but come to think of it, I didn't even ask if she is married or single and if she is single, how am I sure that beautiful lady will not be in a serious relationship!! Hmmmmm, I can't answer all these questions myself, what I will do is to invite her for either lunch or dinner, then will can talk it over, let me make her my friend and know her better."

Door opens and Phoebe steps in with her lavish outfit and looks beautiful and elegant as always.

"So you are now a single man that goes to weddings to look for a lady or ladies to flirt with right? asked Phoebe because it amazes me while a man who is in a relationship with me will be going to a wedding of his friend without me, I never remember telling you that I hate weddings or am I not beautiful enough to be seen with you in public function or we are no longer dating and am not aware? Philip, you better answer my questions for your own good and for the purpose of peace and tranquility. I am still shock to receive the message from a friend who also showed me a video of my own fiancee giving a toast at his friend's wedding, not just a wedding but a classic wedding which I was suppose to be a guest of honor."

"Phoebe, is that the reason you could not even greet me before asking me your countless questions? At Least courtesy demand that you say hi to someone you have not seen for awhile not to talk of someone you claim to love and ...."

" And what !! Phoebe exclaimed, how do you expect me to greet someone who is a betrayal?"

" I, a betrayal? Didn't you tell me that you have another wedding on that same day , a wedding you said you can't miss for anything in the world. So what did you expect me to do? You were there when my friend brought the wedding invite and you knew the date and remember after the incident at my office, we have not been really talking. Bae please I always tell you I love you alot, let's resolve this issue between us and return back to how we use to be, indeed I have missed the loving and romantic Phoebe , the one whose voice alone makes my day ,who I yearn to see everyday , whose angelic eyes calm a sorrowful heart."

" Hmmmmmm, I miss you alot too you know and you know I love you alot too but always hearing stories about you flirting with another lady is my reason for my constant annoyance, I want my man for me and me alone. I don't share my clothes or any of my personal stuffs so while will I share my man, never. "

"You are always insecure as if you have seen me with another lady for once or you have caught me in the act. Bae i keep telling you to stop listening to your friends or any third party, your enemy can be within and it can even be your friend. How sure are you that all your friends want us to remain together!! If they want us to remain together and even get married they would not keep feeding you with false incidents that never happened. Your friend that made a video of me at the wedding I attended saw me and did not exchange pleasantries with me, neither did she identify with me to know that she too was at the reception but she was looking for a reason to get negative news to feed you with and she found none but decided to made a video of me when I was making toast as if making toast at a wedding is now a crime or act of cheating and infidelity. Bae am sorry for any wrong I have done, I am also sorry for not reminding you of the wedding , I thought since you will be going for another , there was no need reminding you of my friend's wedding, in all am sincerely sorry and I need the Phoebe I fell in love with."

"Phil you know when you start giving me all these Compliments I become so weak and fall back into your arms for your warm and loving embrace, please dear don't put yourself where I will become so insecure and start doubting you."

"Your insecurity about me is not wrong indeed it is the person who loves you that exhibit and demonstrate the show of jealousy, you not been jealous about me simply means your love for me is not sincere and not pure but my complain is the way you go about it, when you hear try to observe and see if what you were told is the truth and if it even happened by so doing you will be building up trust towards me because a relationship without trust will continue to be an insecure relationship where the truth will always be denied."

"Enough of your lecture Professor Philip, at this point I'm famished and I need some good food to eat."

The kitchen door opened and elegant Phoebe steps in.

"Good morning Ma'am, greeted Dorothy, one of the chefs."

"Morning to you too Dorothy, how are you doing and where is Akpan?"

"Am fine Ma'am and Akpan just went out now to dispose the trash. "

"Alright that's fine. Dorothy am so famished, let's prepare pounded yam and vegetable soup, that's what I have an appetite for. Hope there is a lot of meat in the refrigerator and there is yam and some vegetables? "

"Yes Ma'am" replied Dorothy.

"Wash and cut the vegetables and also bring out a good quantity of meat from the refrigerator. I will make it enough so that you can microwave it for your boss when I have gone, since he loves vegetable soup a lot. Dorothy let me see the vegetables, I love them fresh and hope there is spinach and water leave?"

"Yes Ma'am , see for yourself,all fresh. I got them from the market yesterday evening and I preserved them very well because myself and Akpan had plans to prepare vegetable soup today too."

"Dorothy, give me gist and latest update on your boss, I want to know what has been happening in this house in my absence, especially the ladies that visit here and go to the VIP floor of the mansion. When I walked in this morning I noticed that he was even smiling to himself which I believe was caused by sweet memories with any of those random ladies. Give me a full update, if possible with their names."

"Dorothy laughs and says; Ma'am you are so optimistic and that's so funny because I will shock you with my reply. To be serious and frank ma'am, none of what you mentioned happened. You were the very last lady that stepped foot in this mansion. Since the last time you left , no lady or even woman has visited this mansion. It has been a normal routine for the boss, he goes to work alone and returns alone, not even a male friend has visited recently Ma'am". She said that and continued cutting the vegetables.

"DorothyI know Phil is your employer, yes that fact is well known and he is the one that pays your salary which you use for your upkeep but remember he is my fiance and for the knowledge I have, he always grant my request to the fullest. So give me the update I want to hear or prepare to become jobless because if you don't give me the require update, your services will no longer be needed here in this mansion."

" Ahhhhh, please ma'am I won't lie to you, there is no reward for me if I lie to you ma'am. What I said is the complete truth without mixing words ma'am. You can ask Akpan, John the driver or any of the security personnel. Boss hardly comes downstairs after work, he takes most of his meals In his room ma'am. Please don't ask the Boss to sack me, remember you even gave me money last time to always keep the necessary updates for you ma'am , I can't lie when you have even paid me ma'am". Dorothy went down on her knees after saying that as tears rolled down her eyes.

" You want me to believe you? Now give me reasons while I will believe an employee of Phil, you indeed will lie to cover your boss's crime and his act of infidelity".

Still kneeling on the floor Dorothy exclaimed. " I sincerely promise you ma'am that I am telling the truth, I have no reasons to convince you to believe me but I plead that you believe me ma'am because this is completely the whole truth of what has been happening in this mansion in your absence".

Kitchen back door opens and Akpan steps in and seeing Dorothy kneeling on the floor,makes an effort to return back outside where he was coming from.

" Come back right inside Akpan, where the hell do you think you are going to?. So you will open the door , come in and without greeting me run back to where you are coming from?"

Phoebe exclaimed with a loud voice and her hand pointing towards Akpan.

Returning back to the kitchen filled with fear and confusion, Akpan quickly go down on his knees and says; " Good morning ma'am, am sorry I left almost immediately and I did not greet you because I was trying to quickly rush and carry the waste basket I left outside ma'am. Please forgive me, it was not intentional"

" Is not intentional, right? , it will also not be intentional when your boss forget to pay you for three months for I assure you I will make that happen if you don't tell me what I want to hear and the whole truth".

" Am sorry ma'am, I promise that it never repeat itself ma'am and I promise to tell you the whole truth of whatever you ask me to".

Turning back to Dorothy and with authoritative speech " Stand up from that place and peel two yams quickly, two of you have not just gotten me angry but have also increased the degree of my hunger".

" Akpan, if you value your job and your salary, give me full details of what has been happening here in this mansion in my absence, especially the number of ladies that have visited this mansion and were given access to your boss' third floor".

" Ma'am..... what will tell you now !! because all you said never happened, to the best of knowledge and with my stern observation, from the last day you left this mansion , no lady has gotten access into the gate of this mansion. I can't even remember when last we hosted a guest in this house. The latest update in this house is the boss' recent boring lifestyle of going to work and when he returns from work, he goes straight to his room and remains there,most of the time before he comes down is the next day, most of his meals are also served in his room ``ma'am''.

Filled with disappointment and dissatisfaction " Akpan and Dorothy , you both have refused to give me the main and truthful update right?, don't worry , I Phoebe know what to do. You both should get yourselves busy".

Akpan quickly gets the mortar and pestle washes it and pounds the yam while Dorothy assists Phoebe in preparation of the vegetable soup.

Finally the long awaited meal is ready and serve on the dinning.

" Honey what are you watching? Lunch is ready, let's move to the dinning".

" I am watching wrestling but it can wait because the sweet aroma of the delicacy you made has not just captured my stomach but has captured my heart too. Let's proceed to the dinning Sweetie".

" Hahahahaha, you always have your way with words that can change a boring and sad mood to a rejoicing mood and that's while I love you". After saying this Phoebe walks Phil to the dinning.

" My God, I was never wrong, just one taste and I can tell what the end will be, indeed sweetheart it is a tasty, sweet , satisfactory and nourishing meal. The meal is sweet as you Dear".

" Is okay honey, thanks for the compliment. Now enjoy your meal before it gets cool".

After the meal they both use the elevator and return to the room in the VIP floor.

" Honey I saw some designers I want to get, it is a complete outfit with a purse and shoes. I will look so dashing and hot with it honey, I want you to get it for me my love".

" Wow, you and designers who will separate you both. How much is it sweetie? ".

" The complete set is just two million darling".

" Two million for one designer? Sweetie is too much. I can't give that huge amount of money for an ordinary outfit you call designer".

" Who says you have a choice, do not get me angry honey, you must give me the complete money or else it will simply mean that you are cheating on me and have been spending your money on another lady. I want the money transferred to me before I leave".

At this point Philip became speechless but could only wonder in his world of thought " I knew it that Phoebe been so nice today could only mean that she needs something from me but I foolishly allowed her to gradually woe me to this now, indeed I will give her the money but how long will this continue?. I think it is the right time to consider the other option".
