CHAPTER SEVEN: COINCIDENTAL MEET UP

ALEXA'S POV

"So you are trying to tell me that you know each other?" Jason asked as a little confusion arose.

"Yes," my mom and his mom both chorused.

"Yeah" Austin and Jennifer said, stealing glances from each other.

"How?" I queried.

"Well... when I was back in University I had two friends, Katey & Susan. We were best of friends, in fact, always seen together all the time. But we were separated because of a certain issue, and we lost contact since then," Mrs. Leonard said.

"That kind of explains better... So Jenifer?"

I turned my glance to Jenifer.

"Um... well, well," Jenifer stammered nervously.

"I and Jenifer were once in a relationship?"

"When?... where?" I queried anxiously.

"England... Remember I once travelled to England for some things," Austin said.

"But Jenifer happened to be in Germany," Jason said immediately.

"Erm.... I travelled to England with my friends for some months. So I came across Austin and we dated for a few months before we broke up due to some issues"

"How many months did u spend in England" Mrs Anderson asked with a grim on her face.

"Six months mom. It was nothing. I stayed in Germany for two to Three years and I just decided to hang out with my friends"

"Okay then. Since it's settled now. Can we resume back to the party" Mrs Leonard said excitedly.

We all walked out of the room chattering.

Barbara walked up to me.

"I've been looking for you" She said worriedly.

"Well.... Guess what"

"I can't guess" She said curiously.

"It turns out Austin and Jason's elder sister once dated back in England"

"Really!" She exclaimed.. But her countenance changed.

"What's wrong Barbara?"

"Oh.. nothing. So what else?"

"Urm... Another shocking news..my mom and Jason's mom were good friends back in the university"

"Wow.. that's lovely. Meaning you and Jason could eventually work out"

I scoffed.

Jace walked up to me. I smiled awkwardly .

"Hey beautiful" He said with a charming smile.

Barbara swayed her hair dramatically and blushed.

"Thanks" She said with red cheeks.

"Oh .... I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to this damsel before me" He said with a smirk, playing on his face.

"Ohh sorry" Barbara said, embarrassed.

"Thanks...Jace" A said with a forced smile..which was not oblivious to him.

He stretched out his hand to me.

"Dance with me...my lady" He bowed.

"Ohh..no..I can't" I said.

Jason came over.

"Stop flirting around Jace....and let the beautiful lady be"

" Well, you can't tell me who I should and shouldn't flirt with" Jace said defiantly.

"I can." Jason said.

"He's my boyfriend, Jace " I said.

He let go of my hands." I can't possibly believe that" He said and walked away.

He bumped into a lady... (Anna)

"Hey.. I'm sorry" Jace apologized.

Anna gazed at him with a seductive smile. "Nah, it's okay Handsome"

"Okay" He went over to the bar and took a glass of wine.

Anna Walked to the bar too and asked for a glass of wine.

Jace looked at her, confused. She just smiled at him awkwardly.

"You mean, she called you?" Mrs. Anderson said in amazement.

"I was also shocked."

"Katey never relents. Isn't she tired?"

"No one knows. I'm trying to make findings about her, but I haven't got any details."

"I could help you, don't worry," Mrs. Anderson said.

Mr. Anderson walked over to them with a glass of wine.

"Honey, this is my close friend, Jessica... back in high school" Mrs. Anderson introduced.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs_" Mr. Anderson said.

"Leonard" Mrs Leonard completed.

"Yeah... Leonard, that sounds familiar,"

Mrs. Leonard smiled.

"Cheers to my 55th birthday and 30th wedding anniversary to my lovely husband," Mrs. Anderson said with a toast.

They clinked their glasses together on wine and cheered.

"You didn't have to lie," Jenifer said abruptly, heading to the roof top with Austin.

"Then how would you have saved yourself?" Austin said, looking at hee intensely.

"Well... urm... Austin... I was obsessed then."

"So obsessed that you chased after me like a dog, kissed me in front of my girlfriend, sneaked into my house and watched me bathing naked, embarrassed me and claimed you were my girlfriend, stalked me to the extent that I see you everyday at the front of my car, I was so exasperated and this even caused a rift between I and my cherished girlfriend." Austin listed with a glare, an angry one indeed.

Okay, that's a lot.

"I... I didn't do all that... I didn't watch you bath naked, nor did I..." she said with an awkward and embarrassed face expression. "Stalk you," she completed.

Austin folded his hands, raising his eyebrows.

"Really? That's a big lie."

"Okay... okay, maybe... I did all that."Jenifer reluctantly conceded.

“You are unbelievable,” Austin remarked.

“But I was kinda immature then… it was all infatuation . I’m sorry… really sorry.”

“Well, I’ve forgiven you long ago, but—” he paused, reluctantly finding the next word easy to say.

“But what?” she asked curiously.

“But I can’t forget that kiss,” he said, looking away… embarrassed.

"To my calculations, that was five years when we coincidentally bumped into each other in the park. Matter of fact, we were living next door to each other. I remember then, I wanted to leave the house for like five months to see how life was outside the house, but I found out that it wasn’t that easy though… but it was great… especially when I bumped into you. I was really obsessed then and I know it."

It had been really long then… you were—annoying"

"I know right " I chuckled.

There was a moment of silence for a while. They were enjoying the night view of the city.

"Let's get in touch" Austin said with a smirk.

"Ohh_"

"Yeah, let me have your number" He said bringing out his phone and handing it to her.

She typed her number and handed it back.

" Thanks" He said and took a gulp of wine.

Barbara happened to walk past the roof top and spotted them.

She wanted to go to them, but she hesitated and shrugged her shoulders, trying to get over the annoyance growing in her.

She walked away and headed to the bathroom, splashing water on her face.

"What the hell is this?" Olivia said angrily.

"I'm sorry ma'am..... there's something wrong with the car's engine" Brian said.

" Then fix it. What do we Pay you for?" Mrs Stones yelled.

" I'm sorry ma'am, it's not something I can do"

"Holy shit.....Why today?" Olivia panicked

"Do something at least " Mrs Stones said filled with rage.

"There's nothing I can do to it Mrs Stones " Brian said

" What the f**k are we going to do?"

Sydney got out of the car, sighed heavily and, Walked into the building. She wore a short, pink, flowery gown. She looked gorgeous, adorned with the jewelries and make up.

Jace caught a glimpse of her while having brandy with Anna. His eyes widened when he realized it was her. He walked towards her furiously and dragged her out.

" What the hell are you doing here?" He asked, grinding his teeth angrily.

"None of your business. Get outta my way" She retorted.

" I told you not to show up at this party. You're going to create a scene"

" I won't" Sydney snapped.

"I promise you, if u f**king create a scene, you're gonna be dragged out of this house. I've warned you enough " Jace said outrageously.

*Whatever" Sydney waved her hand and walked away.

"b***h" Jace cursed under his breath.

"I want to go home" Barbara said with a frown. Her eyes were somewhat swollen.

"What's wrong sweetheart?" I asked worriedly.

"Nothing… I’m just exhausted.”

“Wait a bit… okay,” I said.

I moved away from her, heading toward the waiter to get water for Barbara , when Jason suddenly held me by the waist and pulled me to him. I leaned against his chest and looked at his lips. His presence dazed me—it felt like I was seeing him for the first time. His eyes were dreamy, his charm magnetic, and my heart palpitated for no reason. He had this dangerous, irresistible mafia lord charm.

"This is wrong"

"Just play along Alexa. I promise, it's nothing"

Oh, this doesn't feel like nothing.

A lady walked up to us. At first, we didn’t notice her until she cleared her throat.

“Hey… Jason,” she said with a pretentious smile.

“What are you doing here?” Jason snapped, shoving his hands into his pockets.

“Is it wrong of me to come to my mother-in-law’s birthday party?” she smirked.

“Mother-in-law?” Mrs. Anderson’s voice cut in from behind.

The lady smiled proudly. “Hello, Mrs. Anderson. I’m Sydney Stone, the CEO of Stone’s Theatre and Museum.”

“Wow! I’ve heard of that company. Great work you’re doing there,” Mrs. Anderson complimented.

“Thank you, ma’am. I’m Jason’s girlfriend,” Sydney added with a smile.

“Girlfriend?” I and Mrs. Anderson exclaimed in unison.

“As you can see for yourself, I am Alexa Leonard, and I’m Jason’s fiancee.”

“Oh? Really? Well, I know for sure that whatever is between you two isn’t real,” Sydney said mischievously.

I scoffed. “Whatever you think is your business, lady. I don’t want to know who you are or anything else. Just shut your mouth up.” I smiled slyly ,then folded my arms. “And enjoy this party.”

“Who do you think you are?” Sydney retorted.

“She is my soon-to-be daughter-in-law and Jason’s fiancee. I don't want to know who you are to my son,” Mrs. Anderson snapped.

“Kindly cooperate and enjoy the party, or I would throw you out.”

Sydney smirked and grabbed a glass of alcohol from a waiter’s tray. She winked and walked off.

Jason, Austin, and Jennifer came out and looked around curiously.

“Urm…Suzan ,I guess we should be taking our leave now. We are all exhausted, so see you some other time. We have a lot to discuss—I’ll call you,” Mrs. Leonard said.

“Same here too, Jessica. Goodnight,” Mrs. Anderson replied.

Austin and Jennifer waved goodbye. I quickly planted a kiss on Jason’s cheek without thinking twice. It was all for this b***h to be jealous.

He looked bewildered but only smiled and gave me a hug.

I saw Jace and Sydney together as our driver pulled out of the compound. It seemed they were arguing.

Sooner, she got into her car pathetically desperate. I didn't really want to care about her expression.

Ohh I'm so sorry guys. I've been so occupied. The tight schedule and all.
