“You always refuse everyone's favors,” Margarita said. Adam smiles, “I am a man. My mother never teaches me to be a beggar." “If you didn't refuse my help, maybe your life wouldn't be so difficult.” Adam was silent and chose not to answer his best friend's words. He focused on the road ahead. But Adam was confused and surprised when the car turned to the left. “Wait! You are in the wrong way. This is not the way to my old apartment.” “We're not going to your old apartment.” “Then where are we going?” Margarita looked at Adam with a smile, “We're going to see someone.” “Oh, no! Please don't tell me we're meeting Carola's grandfather.” “Hahaha. Of course, not. Don't worry, you'll see it later." After a long drive that confused Adam quite a bit, they finally arrived at a luxurious mansion on a hill. “Whose house is this?” Margarita smiled without meaning to answer. Two men opened the gate. A large courtyard with beautiful plants seemed to welcome them. A lady's maid came over to Adam and Margarita who had just gotten out of the car. “Mr. Xavier is waiting for you. Let me take you to see him." The lady walked in front of them. “Who's Xavier?” “A private lawyer.” “What?! What are we doing in a lawyer's mansion?” They walked into the multi-billion dollar mansion. This was the first time Adam had ever been in a luxurious place other than Carola's. But he showed no sign of being impressed. “Welcome to Mr. Alfonzo's mansion, Miss Margarita and...?” “Adam Smith.” Margareta helped answer. “Ah. Your face looks like your father?” “My father? What do you mean? I never met him in my entire life.” Xavier looked at Margarita full of questions. She just shrugged and said, “I think it would be best if you explained it to him directly.” “What happened in here? Maggy, you make me confused!” “Wait!” Adam looked at Xavier, “Don't tell me you know my father.” Adam looked at Xavier suspiciously. “You are right, Adam. And the main reason you are here is... you'll meet him.” “What?!” Adam looked at Margarita in surprise, “And you knew all of this before? That's crazy!” Adam walked away. “Adam!” Margarita tried to stop Adam, “Listen to me. Your dad is dying! He really needs you.” “Why should I meet him when he has abandoned me and my mother?!” Adam smiled sadly, “I don't know who he is. But by seeing all this, I can tell that he's very rich, but I have no interest in what he has." “Adam, it's not like you think.” Xavier tried to calm him down. “Hey! Who are you? You don't know me! You don't even know how my life and my mom's life have been suffering because of him!" “I promise I'll explain everything. But you have to come with me first,” Xavier said. Margarita looked at Adam bitterly, “Adam, please...” Adam was silent for a moment. “I can't.” He stepped out. “Adam! I know you're very furious at him, but inside you really want to see him,” Margarita said. Adam stopped his steps and clenched his fists. “Please, I beg you. Just meet him for once. After that, things are up to you." Margarita pleaded with a pitiable face. With a heavy heart, Adam turned around and stepped back into the house. Xavier led them up to the second floor. Two maids opened the large double doors. There was a room with fancy decorations and furniture. But beside it, a suffering man was in pain and lying weakly on a bed. His previously stout and muscular body now looked very thin. “Mr. Alfonzo Smith?!” Adam looked surprised. He had no idea that the “Alfonzo” mentioned by Xavier was Alfonzo Smith. A Billionaire who owned a giant company engaged in technology and exports. “Yes. He is your biological father,” said Margarita. Xavier approached Mr. Alfonso and whispered softly, “Sir, your son is here.” Mr. Alfonso slowly opened his eyes, “Adam?” he said in a low, hoarse voice. Adam looked at Margarita for a moment and walked over to the old man. His body was very thin and his hair was almost completely white. His eyes were sunken and wrinkled as if to illustrate how much trouble he was in. Seeing his father like that, Adam's heart melted, even though he still felt upset and hated him. “Adam. My Son.” Mr. Alfonso placed his hand on Adam's cheek. Adam closed his eyes. Suddenly Mr. Alfonso's breathing became unbearably short. Adam, Margarita, and Xavier started to panic. “ Call a doctor!” Xavier ordered. Margarita immediately ran outside and soon a doctor and nurse who had been hired privately came and quickly checked on him. He injected a liquid into Mr. Alfonso's arm. ” It's best for you to go outside first. We will analyze him further.” “Alright. Let's get out,” Xavier said. They left the room and headed to the second-floor balcony. “What exactly happened?” asked Adam. ”Please, take a seat. I'll tell you everything.” Xavier took a deep breath, “A long time ago when Mr. Alfonso was young. He and Grizella, your mom, they were in love with each other. At the time, they went to the same college, but the differences between them were very visible. As you can see, your father came from a billionaire family, while your mother was just an orphan girl who grew up in an orphanage.” “Your father loved your mother very much. So great was his love for her that he would do anything for her. Even when both your father's parents were against their relationship because of the difference in status.” “As we all know, your father is the only son of the Smith family. Until the moment he threatened that if he didn't get the blessing to marry your mother, then he would leave the house. They had no other choice.” "Even though your parents' wedding was a wonderful affair, it was without their blessing. Until after you were born, Mrs. Carina, your grandmother, kicked your mother out and threatened to kill you and your mother if she didn't leave the house. She had no choice, so Grizella took you away without your father's permission." “Your father was heartbroken and hurt. But Mrs. Carina was very mean and said that it was your mother who left him for another man. From then on your father turned into a very cold and untouchable person. He dedicated his life only to work.” "Two years later, your grandparents had an accident. Before they died, your grandmother told them everything. That made Mr. Alfonso's hurt reopen. He was determined to find you. He's been looking for you for a long time, but never made it." “Until we found a clue about you recently. I personally approached Miss Margarita to help me bring you here. She didn't know about this until I told her. She only knew that you were Mr. Alfonso's biological son.” Adam was silent. He didn't know what to say. Everything had happened so quickly. “Adam, I know this comes as a shock to you. But you can't deny reality,” Daniel said, ”Adam, please stay here." “I can't.” “Adam, you're the only heir.” Adam pointed down the hall, “He was a billionaire. I'm sure he's been hanging out with a lot of women all his life. Who knows if he has other kids other than me?!" “Adam. Your father may have been surrounded by women, but he had a vasectomy after your mother left. He was determined not to find a replacement for your mother,” Xavier explained. Adam was in disbelief and even more confused. "Xavier, maybe you should give Adam some time to think. He must be very shocked." Xavier sighed, “Yeah. Sure. But, we don't have much time left." Xavier stood up and was about to leave them. “Wait! What's his illness?" Xavier whispered something to Adam. Adam's face was shocked and disbelieving. “What?!”
