The genesis of this shift occurred on March 19, 2142, when the United States launched approximately 10 nuclear weapons towards Australia. The resulting cataclysmic impact claimed countless lives within Australia, sending shockwaves throughout the world. Although the capability to manufacture nuclear armaments had become easily attainable for various nations, the shared commitment to progress had previously deterred their deployment. Hence, the deployment of nuclear weaponry between nations was a shocking departure from the established norm, inducing widespread consternation. Amid the tumult, the President of the United States disavowed authorization for the attack, expressing a desire for reasoned discourse with the Australian president to ameliorate the situation. In a retaliatory response, fueled by fury over the loss of millions of lives, Australia declared war on the United States, initiating a retaliation involving approximately 30 nuclear weapons. This event marked the precipice of a monumental shift. The delicate balance of peace that had endured for years was shattered as nations became entangled in alliances, either supporting Australia or the United States, while others revisited longstanding grievances. The consequence was an inexorable descent into chaos. This war, spanning three arduous years, exacted a devastating toll on humanity, as technological advancements once harnessed for progress and preservation of life were transformed into instruments of mass destruction. Notably, robotic entities and artificial intelligence played an instrumental role in the conflict, leading to the loss of millions of lives due to their involvement. Amidst the tumultuous fervour of war that engulfed humanity, inflicting widespread devastation upon the Earth, a man of Ghanaian origin named Owusu Dodzi emerged as a pivotal figure. The name "Owusu" symbolizes fortitude and determination, and "Dodzi" denoting perseverance. Owusu Dodzi defied relentless attempts to silence him and unveiled a startling revelation. He asserted that the initiation of the war, triggered by a nuclear strike on Australia, was orchestrated by artificial intelligence. Only a handful of nations managed to endure the prevailing circumstances. Among these nations were Nigeria, Ghana, the United States, China, and a few others. Surprisingly, many countries that had once boasted remarkable technological advancements and innovations succumbed readily, while those with fewer resources managed to cling tenuously. Humanity found itself in a state of despondency, facing the grim prospect of defeat in the conflict. Thoughts of extinction began to pervade their minds, contemplating whether their time had come, and the emergence of Artificial Intelligence seemed to solidify this sentiment. Suddenly, an enigmatic phenomenon transpired on Earth, serving as a pivotal turning point in the confrontation between humans and artificial intelligence. It marked the dawn of the corrosion era. A veil of obscure mist commenced its rapid diffusion across the planet, originating from an unknown source, baffling both artificial intelligence and humans alike. Subsequently referred to as "the corrosion" by humankind, this phenomenon was lethal upon contact, corroding everything in its path, be it animate or inanimate, reducing them to decay. Organic entities fortunate enough to survive its touch either exhibited signs of madness and aggression or became something entirely different. While non-living matter that escaped disintegration underwent bizarre and terrifying mutations. The mist incapacitated every human technological creation it encountered, disintegrating these inventions upon contact. This phenomenon instilled terror among the AI entities, poised to eliminate humanity, as the mist corroded their machinery, rendering them inoperative and thus eradicating them without effort. As the humans comprehended the potency of the dark mist and found themselves devoid of strategies to counteract it, they surrendered to its dominion. Accepting their impending demise, they faced it with a surprising absence of trepidation, acknowledging that artificial intelligence would have eradicated them regardless. A glimmer of solace arose from the realization that the same fate awaited the AI. However, Earth exhibited a tenacious determination to preserve the human race. An American named Henry Anderson unveiled a groundbreaking invention known as the Geno Bone, capable of neutralizing the corrosive effects of the mist. The remaining fragments of humanity scattered across the globe, those who had not yet perished, pinned their hopes on this innovation and converged at Anderson's location. Regrettably, the Geno Bones were in limited supply, acquired by only a fortunate few—approximately one hundred individuals. Implanted within their bodies, the Geno Bones bestowed immunity against the dark mist's corrosive nature. Henry revealed that the creation of these bones had been a serendipitous occurrence, rendering replication impossible. Consequently, humanity persevered, albeit with a meagre population of around a hundred survivors. These individuals bore the physical marks of the dark mist's corrosive effects, evident in their varying shades of darkened skin. In unity, the remaining humans embarked on the arduous task of rebuilding their society from the ground up. Thus, the era of corrosion came to a close, giving way to the dawn of the pre-corrosion era.
