We got to the park by the time the hoard got to our old base. I found a nice big tree in the middle of the park. Suddenly my head started to pound. These headaches have been normal since the H-Virus happened. It's been a year so I know I'm not infected. The only one who knows is Tara. She has been there since the start. I know she's getting them too. She just won't tell me. We get to the big oak and there it is. The bomb shelter. Yes. I found it.
I sign for Tara.
hey. I found it. must scope out before we settle.
even though it have overgrown vines and bushes over it. strange how no one had bothered to stay here. Tara tapped my shoulder.
me and you?
yes I signed back
.
We scoped the place. Nothing but a few spiders and some mice. Golden we are. Sam and Max found a place for the horses to rest. We gathered everything we had and made base camp that was going to be home until the hoard passed us. I silently unpacked the few things I managed to save before everything went to s**t. I miss my baby sister and I don't know if she got out safe. I was stuck in an endless loop of hell that never seems to end.
.
Sam made dinner which wasn't much. just some rice and canned chicken she was able to find. We sat in the open area that was almost like a living room. It had one old table, three chairs, some shelves and a old fridge that dosent work, obviously. It was filled with dust, drit, and green moss the formed from the lack of light. We had a propane tank for a stove top as well as a way to have heat. You'd be amazed at what Max can do with a couple of old batteries and some coke. We had lights and even a ipod we charged up with a make shift charger. It was awesome. The night was almost perfect. As Tara and I were getting ready for bed that's when we started hearing it.
.
The screaming. Someone was screaming. Tara and I looked at each other and ran to find Max and Sam. It seems like they had the same idea because we almost clanked heads.
.
"You heard it too.... right?" Max quietly asked
we all nod and that's when it happened again. This time closer and louder. they're a moving target for walkers and splitters. we can't risk trying to save them. We won't survive.
.
"JESS!" Tara snapped me to focus, I just looked at her. She knew this look. Its the look of despair and weakness. She knows.
.
"okay. well we can't save them..." Tara starts
.
"BUT-" Max wanted to protest but Sam cuts him off.
.
"She's right Max...." Sam looked sad "You can't save everyone." Sam then leads Max to his bed and convinced him to lie down.
.
"Tara.... They are creating a lot of noise up there... I hope they don't know this place.." I stopped "Im gonna go see if I can see anything. turn out the lights."
.
Tara does as I say and comes to huddle next to me. We stay as quiet as possible, creeping up to the little window on the bunker door and as soon as we peek outside.... nothing. absolutely nothing. I looked at Tara then signed to her what? she shrugged maybe is was a walker?? she gives me an even more confusing look.
no. it had to have been a person. She c****d her head at me sideways like I was the crazy one. look you heard it too. I know it was a person. She throws her hands up letting me know I won the conversation. We continued to look out of the window to find something. Eventually, we got tired and made our way for bed but first we made sure to lock the door and block the window, okay the last one was for me cause I know there was someone out there. I'm not crazy. It was quite for the rest of the night, becide the occasional scream from an actual zombie, we actually got some sleep.
.
Tomorrow is gonna be a new survival game.
