Chapter 2

Bria POV:

I carefully open my eyes and for a minute I forget where I am. The first few seconds of wakefulness I mistakenly believe I am in my bedroom at home. I feel every time that I awake the hurt and pain of losing my family and realization hits that I am alone. I stretch out my limbs and begin to climb out of the cave. I shift into my wolf again and look for a pond or river to clean myself up and do my business. I run a few steps and find a dip that leads to a river. I begin to sniff and take a drink of the water when I suddenly smell something unfamiliar. It is a stench of what I can only describe as a roadkill. I look over and see three wolves slowly heading towards me. Saliva dripping out of their jaws as they look at me as their breakfast. At that moment only one thing pops into my head RUN!!!!  I turn and just run as quickly as I can and in a blink of an eye, they surround me at all sides. They are smaller than I am but that’s only because I have Alpha blood in me. The one stationed behind me at my flank growls very lowly at me. I’m scared and what’s worse they can smell the fear in me. At that moment a voice enters my head that sounds a lot like my mom, and she said FIGHT! And I lunge. In an instant I take the one to my right going straight for his throat. Using every training I can think of I claw and bite at my attackers not thinking about the blows they are giving me. What felt like forever but maybe took a few minutes I killed two out of the three wolves that attacked me. During the struggle, I am knocked into a nearby tree and I know I heard a rib or two c***k, but the pain must wait. I still have one more wolf to right. The last wolf and I stare each other down neither one of us backing away from each other. Waiting to try to anticipate the other’s next move. Out of nowhere, the rogue wolf’s ear twitches as if some sound caught his ear. The next thing I knew two wolves come out from behind the trees I was standing in front of. The rogue wolf takes off in the other direction leaving me to the two new wolves. They are as big as I am. They smell familiar in a way, yet I can’t fathom how or why. They growl trying to get me to submit but I refuse to bend or show fear. My wolf is tired of running and doesn’t care if this is the end. The two wolves then shift to their human forms and put some shorts on they had attached to their hind legs. They tell me to shift so that we can speak. I don’t want to because I have no clothes to wear and I am not standing naked in front of people or wolves I don’t know. The two wolves in front of me smell of power but not Alpha maybe a Beta and Gamma? One of them runs to a tree and grabs a shirt that must be hidden there and tells me to take it and shift. I run to a nearby tree and shift to my human form. I put the shirt on and thankfully it covers me to almost my knees. I walk out to where the two wolves are standing holding on to my sides. I notice I have some deep gashes on my legs and arms, but I straighten my shoulders and walk out from behind the tree. Both guys stand at 6ft and 6ft 2. The taller one speaks first. “Who are you and what are you doing here?” I answer “I didn’t know this territory was claimed. I have been traveling for a long time now. I had taken shelter in a cave not too far from here. As I was freshening up at the river three wolves came out from the woods and attacked me. I killed two of them when you two showed up scaring the third away. I don’t mean any harm to anyone.” The other one said, “What caused you to run away?” “Listen, I’m sorry if I am being rude but I don’t know either one of you or tell you my life story. I said I’m sorry for trespassing and if it's ok I’ll head back to the cave so I can retrieve my clothes and I’ll move on. I’m not here to cause any trouble” The taller one said “It’s not that simple, as per the rules of our Alpha we have to take you into custody and you must go through our trials” Please follow us willingly because we don’t want to have to force you. We know you are hurt and don’t want to make those injuries any worse.” “Where am I exactly on whose territory?” I asked.  “Well this used to be part of The Blood Hunters Pack, but they were attacked a couple of years back. Our Alpha took over the land to expand. Our pack is called Hell Blood River Pack and it's Alpha Terry.” My name is Joey and I am his Beta, and this is Brandon our Gamma.” You look a little wobbly on your feet there let’s get you back to our pack and get checked out.” “At that moment I realized how lightheaded I began to feel. I felt the woods spinning before my eyes and then darkness took over” ….
