The Girl

She stood on the corner, dressed in a raggedy shirt and a small torn skirt, and looked to be about 16.  Glancing around, as if she was looking for someone, she spotted a car slowly approaching.  The window rolled down and the man inside told her to get in, she pointed him in the direction of the building she took all her men to.  After going to the area that she considered her room, she carefully removed and folded her clothes as the man did the same.  She laid on the mattress and closed her eyes while the man used her body for his own pleasure.  Her mind drifted to happier times.   “Mommy! Mommy!  Look what I drew!” the happy 4 year old girl exclaimed, as she bounced happily up and down on her toes, with a piece of paper in her hand.   “Oh! How beautiful!”   “It’s you and me and Daddy!!”   “I can see that.  Now go wash up for bed dear one.  It’s time for young ladies to be in bed.”   “Ok Mommy!” The little girl ran off to get ready for bed. She crawled into bed, after putting on her pajamas,  brushing her teeth and hair, and washing her face. Her mother came and tucked her in after a while.  She looked at her daughter with a sad expression on her face, as the child’s eyes drifted shut she wondered to herself why her mom was sad.   A lone tear trickled down the girls face after the man was finished and had thrown money at her.  She had been living on the streets since she was 10.  Her father couldn’t stand to look at her after her mother left them both.     “Daddy!  Where is Mommy?” asked the young girl.  “I have a picture to show her.”   “She isn’t here anymore!  She hates us.  She left us.  I can’t stand the sight of you get out of the house.  I never want to see you again!”   “But..but Daddy!” the girl cried with tears running down her face.   “I said get out!” her father shouted as he slapped her across the face.  “Never let me see you again!   The girl ran out of the house, with no place to go, she just kept running.  She finally stopped when her body started to hurt from exertion, beside her was an old building where she could take refuge.   She had no choice but to earn money any way she could.  Over the years she has had many customers including her own father, who doesn’t even recognize her.  Her world is grey and black, nothing makes her happy or even smile anymore.  The only moments of color or emotions come in her dreams.   She sees a man in the distance who has a muscular form.  She has never seen him before but feels drawn to him for some reason.  A pregnant woman approaches him with a brunette little girl.  They seemed to be a happy family.  She could sense something was amiss with the family but could not pinpoint what was going to happen.     Following the family around she watched the way they were together, she could see herself in a relationship like that.  If only her life was as nice as this families lives were.  A loving father and mother and a happy daughter excitedly awaiting the newest member of the family.  One day maybe, she finally turns away from then and walks slowly away.   She cleans herself up and heads back out to find another customer. This has become her life, and there seems to be no end in sight..   Alone, cold, and sad, she repeats the process many time a day.
