Escape

The next day before the sun came up she again felt someone touching her.  She knew better then to raise a ruckus so she held still, but planned her day out very carefully.  She would call that cop who seemed to invade her dreams for some reason.  She ignored the boy on top of her, with his novice attempts to excite her.  Once he was finished she cleaned herself up and went down to breakfast.  After breakfast and everyone left the girl was in the house by herself.  She washed and dried her clothes and took a long bath to get clean, as it had been a while since she was able to do so.  She got dressed and slipped out of the house wandering the streets until she found a*****e.  After asking to use the phone, she called the officer, “I need help.”   “Meet me at the bus station at 7:00 pm tonight.  I will make arrangements for you to stay somewhere.  You do know where that is?”   “Yes! I will be there.”  She hung up the phone and began to wander throughout the town until it was time to head to the bus station.  She could see the officer waiting for her in front of the station as she approached from the other side of the street.  When he spotted her, he waved.    Stepping into the street, while waving back she didn’t see the 18-wheeler right beside her.  She was struck by the truck, just before loosing consciousness she saw the officer running towards her.  This is it the end of her.   “Honey! I’m home!” the man called as he entered the house.  “Girls how was school today?”   “It was great, Daddy! the oldest daughter said as she came around the corner to hug him.   “Today was uneventful for a change.  Your daughters didn’t get into trouble at school for once,” the woman said with a smile before kissing him on the cheek.  “Dinner is almost ready.  How was work for you?”   “It was a normal day.”   “That bad huh, you can tell me about it later. Now go wash up for dinner.” She headed back to the kitchen to finish dinner.  Her mind racing with possibilities as to what was bothering her husband.  She had always thought that she was just a placeholder for him after his first wife died giving birth to his youngest daughter, and was now feeling insecure about her position in his life.   They settled down that evening to talk after putting the girls to bed,”so what happened at work today.”   “There was a shooting today and a woman was accidentally killed by a stray bullet.  She looked like Felicity, my first wife, but reminded me of you when we first met.  It was obvious that she was living on the streets and had no one to look after her.  I love you Briana, and I don’t know what I would have done without you all these years.  I thought I had lost you all those years ago, but you pulled through somehow right when I needed you.  We, my daughters and I would be lost without you, so don’t ever think you don’t have a place here.  He hugged her tight while saying this.  Tears streamed down her face while hearing this.  They fell asleep wrapped in each other’s arms.   The girl was rushed to the hospital, where she stayed in a coma.  The nurses and doctors seemed to give up on her even though she was breathing on her own.  The couldn’t figure out what was keeping her alive.  Her body slowly healed, while she remained asleep lost in her own world.
