Chapter four

My heart was racing so fast that I could hear it hammering as I stared at the figure emerging from the shadows.
Thump!
Thump!!
Thump!!!
Tall and imposing, with eyes that seemed to bore into my soul.
"Who are you?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady, deep down I was scared but I drifted back just to run incase of danger.
The figure didn’t respond. Instead, it just took a step closer to me, its eyes fixed on mine.
My body was frozen. What did this person want?
Anna grabbed my arm, her eyes widening with fear.
"Let's get out of here," she whispered.
But I was frozen in place, unable to move or look away. I was stuck. I was stuck to the ground.
The figure took another step closer, its eyes burning with an intense gaze.
Suddenly, Isabelle appeared out of nowhere.
"Hey guys, what’s going on?" she asked, her voice bright and forced, dripping with sweetness.
The figure turned to Isabelle, its eyes narrowing.
" Just having a little chat with Valerie," it said, its voice low and menacing.
Isabelle’s smile faltered, and for a moment, I saw something in her eyes that made my stomach ache and rumble—it was fear.
But then, the moment passed, and Isabelle was smiling again like nothing happened and it was definitely weird changing emotions like it is normal which isn't normal.
"Well, I think it’s time for us to go,"she said, her voice firm.
The figure turned back to me, its eyes burning with an intense gaze.
"We are not done yet, Valerie," it said in its low, menacing voice.
And then, it turned into the shadows and disappeared, leaving me shaken and confused.
What Just Happened?
Who was that person?
I turned to Isabelle and Anna, my eyes wide with fear.
*"What’s going on?" I demanded, my eyes widened with fear and I was shouting so much which made my voice echo.
But they just exchanged a weird glance, and Isabelle smiled again.
"Let’s just get out of here, okay?" she said, faking calmness.
I nodded, feeling a sense of unease all over me. Something was definitely fishy, and I was determined to find out what it was.
As we walked to the car, I kept looking back to see if I could still see the stranger in the shadows. But there was no one there.
When we got to the car, Anna and Isabelle exchanged glances.
"Do you want to go home?" Anna asked.
I hesitated. A part of me wanted to go home, but another part of me was determined to find out what was going on.
"No,"I said finally. "I want to know what’s going on."
"Okay, let’s go get some coffee," she suggested.
As we drove to the coffee shop, I was so scared, and the stranger’s words kept echoing in my head.
"We are not done, Valerie."
What did he mean? What did he want from me? How did he know me?
All these questions kept lingering in my mind, but no answers came.
When we got to the coffee shop it was still opened Thank God. The whole place was well lited and the ambiance was welcoming with slow music playing, if not I was having a bad day I would have obviously taken some pictures, but now wasn't the time. We entered and the waiter greeted us with a nice smile, and looked for an empty seat close to the window because I needed air. I looked at Anna and Isabelle with anger and confusion in my eyes
Isabelle looked nervous.
Isabelle and Anna looked at each other.
"Does anybody want to talk about what just happened?" Anna asked.
Isabelle sighed.
"I don’t know who he was. I have never seen that guy before. But I do know that something is definitely going on."
"What’s going on, Isabelle?" I demanded.
But she just shook her head.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," she said, her voice shaky.
“I don't know who he is” she lies again
“What exactly is going on Isabelle” my fist against the table causing a sound and making others including the waiters Turning to our table which made me feel embarrassed a little.
Why is she lying to me? What could be so bad they could make Isabelle lie constantly, it's like everything that she says from her mouth this night was a lie.
As we sat there in silence, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong, and I must find out what it was.
