The party raged on, the music pulsating through my veins like a living thing. But as the night wore on, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It was like a whispered secret, lurking just out of earshot.
I tried to push the feeling aside and focus on having fun. I danced and laughed with Anna, the flashing lights and pounding music momentarily distracting me from my growing unease. But as the night wore on, the feeling only intensified.
It started with little things. The way Isabelle's smile seemed forced, the way Anna's laughter sounded nervous. I tried to brush it off as exhaustion, but the feeling lingered, but that wasn't the case I knew what I saw in Isabelle's bedroom and I know for a fact that I was seeing things and it wasn't ordinary either, but I couldn't bring myself to tell them not because I'll spoil Their fun but because it was a mystery that I needed to solve and I had a feeling that my friends were behind it.
And then I saw something that made my heart skip a beat. Isabelle and our other friends were huddled together in the corner, whispering and glancing around nervously. I caught Anna's eye, and she raised an eyebrow, as if she'd noticed it too.
"What's going on?" I whispered to Anna, my voice barely audible over the music. But she just shook her head and looked away.
I felt a chill run down my spine. What were they hiding? And why did I get the feeling that something was very, very wrong?
I made my way over to Isabelle and the rest of our friends, trying to act nonchalant. But as I approached, they fell silent, their eyes darting around the room like trapped animals, looking out for its predator.
"Hey guys, what's popping?" I asked, trying to sound casual. But my voice came out too loud, too forced.
Isabelle forced a smile. "Just talking about plans for summer break," she said, her voice sounding strained. But I wasn't buying it.
"Summer break? That's not what it looked like," I said, my voice firm. I folded my arms across my chest, my eyes locked on Isabelle's.
For a moment, Isabelle's smile faltered, and I saw something in her eyes that made my stomach drop - a brief flicker of fear, her hands were shaking and she couldn't stand properly, it was wired and this is the first time she's acting like this. " Are you sure everything is fine isabelle?" I touched her shaky hands and she looked at me like a puppy that was soaked in water for too long.
But then, the moment passed, and Isabelle was smiling again.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Val," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness. But I knew she was lying.
I felt a surge of anger. What was going on? And why was Isabelle lying to me?
But before I could press the issue, Anna grabbed my arm and pulled me away. "Let's get some air," she said, her voice low.
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Maybe getting out of there for a few minutes would help me clear my head.
As we stepped outside into the cool night air, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. The music and laughter from inside seemed to fade away, replaced by the sound of crickets and rustling leaves. I could finally breathe a little.
But the darkness seemed to press in around us, making me feel almost claustrophobic. I shivered, despite the warmth of the night.
"Anna, what's going on?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Anna hesitated, looking around nervously. "I don't know, Val," she said, her voice low. "But I think something's wrong."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. What did Anna know? And why was she being so secretive?
But before I could press her for more information, I heard a voice behind me.
"Valerie," the voice said, low and menacing. It sent shivers down my spine.
I spun around, my heart racing. Who was that? And what did they want?
As I turned, I saw a figure emerging from the shadows - tall and imposing, with eyes that seemed to bore holes into my soul. And it seemed similar to the one in Isabelle’s room.
My heart was racing now, my mind spinning with fear. Who was this person? And what did they want with me?
