As I scanned the room, I spotted Anna laughing and chatting with a group of friends. I made my way over to join them, just to feel a sense of belonging, because, let's face it—we spent too much time dancing and joking around, enjoying the vibes and each other’s company.
The party was in full bloom now, with a roar of people yelling and dancing to the loud music playing in the background. It felt carefree and airy. I never wanted it to end. Letting go of the stress and anxiety of the exams, it was just what I needed. Isabelle always hosted the perfect place to unwind, surrounded by good friends and good music, and of course she hosts the best parties.
But as the night went deeper, I started to notice that Isabelle and some of our other friends seemed... off and distant. Their smiles towards me seemed forced like they were trying to hide something from me. I tried to brush it off as exhaustion, but the feeling lingered and I felt so uncomfortable.
I grabbed a drink from the kitchen and made my way back to the living room. The music was getting louder now, and people were starting to get more rowdy. I spotted Isabelle and some of our friends standing together in the corner close to the kitchen, whispering and glancing in my direction nervously like they are trying to do something strange or bad…
My curiosity was intrigued. *What are they talking about?* I whispered to myself as I made my way over to join them, but as I approached, they fell silent. Isabelle forced a smile and handed me a drink.
I gave them a questionable look, sensing that something was off. But before I could press the issue, Anna grabbed my arm and pulled me over to the dance floor.
_"Come on, Val! Let’s dance!"Anna shouted over the music.
I hesitated for a moment but then let myself drown into the music and the moment. As we danced, I tried to shake off the feeling that something was off. It was odd—a nagging sense of unease that I couldn’t ignore.
Sometimes, I would catch a glimpse of Isabelle or one of our other friends, and they seemed off.
It wasn’t just me—Anna seemed to notice it too. We exchanged a few glances at each other. But whenever we tried to talk to Isabelle or any of our other friends, they’d just brush it off and change the subject.
But something was definitely off, and I could feel it. I started to feel uncomfortable and wanted to leave.
"Anna, I’m tired and exhausted. I’ve had enough for one night,"_ I said, rubbing my eyes to make it more believable. "Do you wanna go home?"
"Yeah, me too. Let’s bounce,". Anna replied, holding my hand as we passed through the crowd. But before we could get to the door, Isabelle called out to me.
"Val! Wait!"_ She rushed to me. "Where are you going? The fun is just about to begin!" she said, grabbing my hands and holding me back.
_"Val, you can leave later. I brought you here to have fun, and you decide to leave the party halfway? That’s not fair,"_ she said, giving me that puppy-dog look which always gets to me every time. "Please don’t be a buzzkill."
I gave Anna a glance, and she gave me a go-ahead to stay.
"Fine. I will stay for just one hour," I smiled at her. “But I will need a place to rest m head a little bit” I shouted over the music so she could hear me. “Sure, let's go to my room” she dragged me upstairs and there were a lot of people in the hall way which was so weird, like why can't they get a room or go do it outside and sometimes I just had to pass their middle “sorry” I said nervously to two couples who I had to interior their make out session. After much walking passed horny couples we finally got to her room and I opened the door, the room was so pretty and beautiful as always, it was coloured pink which was her favourite colour and k-pop idol posters were pasted on the wall of her room like BTS and straykids.A bog vanity dressing mirror and drawer was standing beautifully across her bed with lots of cosmetics that I didn't even know existed, yeah I know I'm suppose to have a skincare routine but why will I need one when I literally spend all my days at the hospitals or clinics, her wardrobe was as big as my room.
“Your room is amazing and it keeps getting better each time I come visit” I smiled as I sat on the bed.
“Thank you Val, you know I love my space big and clean and I easily get bored of designs” she chuckled and drank a sit of her drink.
“You rest here and I'll go downstairs to join the others” she smiled and left, locking the door behind her, while I just nodded.
The room was cozy and the ambiance was great, I felt sleepy in no time.
Few minutes later I heard a crashing sound at the balcony
Crash!
Crash!
Whose there?? I shouted standing up from the bed, I could see a masculine shadow from the balcony…and it's really weird that some couple will be here making out.
Suddenly everywhere went blank, there was a power cut but that didn't stop the party that was going on down stairs, I rushed to the door to unlock it but it was jammed and couldn't open
“Help” I shouted banging the door
“Can anyone hear me” I shouted again but who was I fooling, a party was going on downstairs and no body will really come to my rescue
I turned back and saw the shadow going inside the room and closer to me
My heart was beating so fast
Thump
Thump
“Stay back” I shifted back looking for anything to defend my self and a saw a baseball bat behind the dressing table
I took it quickly and held it tight like my life depended on it.
The figure just stood for a while and turned this back and he jump down from the balcony and immediately the lights came on..
“oh great, you have to come on now you stupid f*****g lights”.
I quickly opened the door and saw Isabelle.
“Oh, I thought you would be sleeping by now” her eyes were searching the room like she knew what happened
“ I don't feel like sleeping anymore, let's go back down to the party”
“Ok then”
As the party dragged on, I found myself getting more and more anxious. What is going on? What are they hiding? And why do I feel like something is very, very... wrong?
