Naira POV
A long time passed while I wandered alone through the forest after being forced to return to my human form. Ignis had blocked herself off from me, and I didn't even want to visit my friends Ethan and Aurelia.
I finally arrived home, quickly went up to my room, closed the door behind me, turned off the lights, and sat on the bed. Only a few seconds passed before I heard a knock at the door.
“Come in,” I said calmly. It seemed they had been waiting for my return.
Alisa, one of the castle maids, entered and respectfully said, “The Alpha asked me to inform you that you will be taken tomorrow morning at eight o'clock.”
“Tomorrow morning?! What the hell? Is this happening that fast?” I muttered sarcastically.
Alisa cleared her throat awkwardly before speaking. “He also told me to say that you'll be going even if you refuse. He'll personally take you there by force.”
My laughter grew louder, and so did my anger. “I swear I'll make him regret this. Let him wait and see what I'll do to him.”
I walked toward her and noticed the obvious tension on her face. “Go, Alisa, and tell him I said: damn you.”
She swallowed nervously and handed me several papers. “Here, these are for you.” She bowed respectfully and quickly left.
I looked at the papers. “The stupid contract. My contract of sale to the devil.”
I read all the ridiculous clauses, and eventually my eyes landed on the signatures. One carried my damned father's name, while the other belonged to Alpha Nightshadow.
I carelessly threw it onto the floor while silently cursing both of them with every insult that came to mind.
The door suddenly flew open this time, and Morgana, my brother Raithan's wife and Kailan's twin brother's mate, entered with an unusually cheerful smile on her face.
“Haven't you learned how to knock yet, Morgana? Some traits truly never change. Thanks to the wonderful environment you were raised in, you're still a rude savage with no manners.” I said sarcastically while leaning against my desk.
She looked at me happily. “You're finally leaving this place. I truly hope Alpha Nightshadow kills you.”
She wanted all of us gone so her son could become the future heir of the Pack and eventually Alpha.
A fake smile appeared on my face as I asked mockingly, “Where's your beloved husband? Did he run off with another w***e and leave you alone as usual?”
Her hands tightened into fists, and she glared at me angrily. “That's none of your business. Forget about us and focus on yourself and what's about to happen to you.”
“Don't get your hopes up, Morgana. Neither you nor Raithan will ever become Alpha and Luna. Whether I leave or stay won't make any difference. Kailan is the true heir and the one fit to become Alpha. And when he finds his Mate, she'll be the Luna, not you.” I loved provoking her and reminding her of her place alongside Raithan. They had caused countless problems for Kailan in hopes that my father would exile or kill him. After that, it would've been my turn and Seraphina's.
She tried to suppress her anger and smiled smugly. “I heard what happened today between Alpha Valric and Kailan, so don't be too confident about what the future holds.”
I stepped closer to her, my words coming out slowly and confidently. “Even though he's a bastard who barely knows how to do anything right, he knows exactly who deserves to be Alpha after him. So you're the one who shouldn't trust the future, dear.”
She bared her sharp fangs and released a growl. I took a few steps back and smiled challengingly. “So, you want a fight?”
Suddenly, Seraphina's voice echoed through the room. “Morgana, what are you doing in Naira's room?”
Morgana glared angrily and muttered, “A bunch of idiots.” Then she stormed out while cursing under her breath.
I sighed and sat down on the bed. “What happened after I left?”
Seraphina threw herself onto the couch as usual. “Not much. Your father forced Kailan to stay in his room until you leave tomorrow morning. Your mother tried talking to him calmly, but it was useless. Raithan found out what happened and left without caring, as usual.” Then she sat up and looked at me seriously. “Let's run away, Naira. I'll come with you if you want. What do you think?”
I moved closer and pulled her into my arms. “I can't sacrifice my family or the innocent members of the Pack. I'll find a solution. Even if I have to go to that devil, don't worry. I'll stay in contact with you all the time too.”
She let out a sob and hugged me back. Seraphina had always been the most affectionate person, despite pretending otherwise.
I kept rubbing her back to calm her down, even though I was the one who needed comfort.
In just a few hours, everything in my life would change.
I would be going to the devil feared by everyone...
Alpha Nightshadow.
