42 Tarkyn and Danton returned to the firesite in time to join Waterstone and Rainstorm’s small expedition that they had organised to do some target practice, mainly in an effort to get to know Harkell’s family. The group followed a narrow path that wound its way up through tumbled granite boulders to the top of a small rise. An egret stalked around the shallows of a pool that had formed in a depression of a large piece of granite. Enough silt had gathered over the years for reeds to grow around one edge of it.
