24 It was a beautiful spring morning in the forest. Except for a few droplets, the dew had dried on the grasses underfoot leaving them soft and fresh while above, the newly unfurled leaves created a bright canopy against the strong blue of the sky. Danton stood with his shoulder leaning against a tree, waiting with feigned unconcern for Tarkyn to emerge from his shelter. Stormaway gave him a casual pat on the shoulder as he wandered past. A minute later the wizard returned, having thought twice about it, “Danton, you have nothing to fear. Have faith in your liege.” Danton gave him a wry smile, “I do have faith in him, Stormaway, but… I just can’t help myself.
