Chapter Three

Lilah's Pov

When I got to my room, Hailey bombarded me with questions. The remaining day went in a blur. I didn’t get to see him again, the only thing that changed is that I was reassigned to his room again. But I never bump into him, it was already a week and some days after.

On a sunny morning, I was done with my chores, when I heard a knock at my door. I opened the door and saw Daniel, I lowered my face immediately.

"Can you come with me" sounded more like a command than a question. I followed him.

"If you keep walking, you will stumble on something. I advise you to raise your face." I raised my face and followed him to the garden, he motioned for me to sit down.

"What did Eros tell you that day you were in his office?" I raised my brow at him.

"Who is Eros?" I slapped my mouth immediately and it dawned on me who Eros is, did I just refer to him by his name. Am sure Daniel knew I realized who is talking about because he kept looking at me waiting for his answer.

"He asked me few personal question, that’s all"

"Did he mention anything about his feelings to you?" I was confused.

"No, but he only asked if I was feeling anything at the moment."

"So, were you feeling anything at the moment?"

"No" what's this about them asking me how I feel, I decided to ask Daniel, he looks more approachable than Eros.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yes."

"Is there any problem with my feelings?" I know I sounded stupid, but I really need to know they keep asking me how I feel."

"The problem is what you are not feeling, because it's affecting someone"

"What do you mean"

"Eros is feeling something for you, actually the mate bond. But the problem is that you are not feeling it." it's like I was thrown out of my balance.

"Am confused"

"Same as you, because I'm surprised why he is the only one feeling it."

"he didn’t tell me"

"How do you expect him to tell you that you are his mate when you are not feeling anything. It's hard, he prefers to bask in your scent everyday than tell you." the more he spills the more I am confused and my head is about to start spinning.

"What you are trying to tell me is that, he is my mate?"

"Yes"

"But I am not feeling the mate bond like……" I stopped before I could spill something.

"That’s where the problem lies, can you come and meet him?"

"I will, only If you answer my question."

"Anything, if it makes you see him." I don't know how to answer the question, but anyway.

"Is it possible to have more than one mate?" he raised his eyes at me.

"Have you had a mate before?"

"Actually, yes."

"But you don’t have any mark"

"Yes, he didn’t mark me" the memory of that day started replaying in my head.

"If he didn’t then you have another chance of another mate" I raised my head at him immediately, and he nodded at me.

"Can we go now? '' I followed him back to the house with my head spinning from everything he just told me, which explains why I was reassigned to his room. But what if he is feeling the same way I am feeling when Clint ignored me. That must hurt really hard.

Daniel didn't knock, when we got there, he held the door open for me, and motioned for me to go in, I got in and he locked the door behind me, I turned immediately but he wasn't there. He just sent me into the lion's den, and left me.

"Sit down." I heard the door behind me, I turned and saw Eros staring at me. I walked to the couch and sat down, I had this feeling of pity for him knowing what he is passing through, I have been there before. I will do what I can to help him.

I sat there for hours, and he didn't say anything to me. Few minutes later Daniel came in with food, and placed it Infront of me and left. I knew the food is for me, but I waited for him to say something.

"Eat." That's the cue I needed to start eating. When I finished, he moved and sat down beside me. We are staring at each other.

"How are you?" He had this gentle look on his face.

"Am fine, and you?"

"Am good"

"Your Beta, said you are not good."

"Yeah."

"What happened, how do you feel."

"I feel so strange around you." He said moving closer to me.

"I know " I said staring at him as he stared back.

"Do you really not feel anything, like even your wolf."

"The thing is, my wolf withdrew herself after." I looked at him not knowing if I should say it.

"Say it."

"After he rejected me, you know she warned me that I should approach him about it, but I was so lenient. So after that she blamed for that, and decided to withdraw." He stayed silent, he didn't know what to say.

"It's okay, am sure you can fight off the feeling and just disregard me, am not of that importance to you, you might have another chance of having another mate." It really hurt to say this, but Clint already made accustomed to it.

"I tried but it's not working, I think I have already exhausted my chance."

"What do you mean?"

"I have had the chance of having a mate before, but it didn't go well, maybe this hurt really bad because it's my last chance."

What if it's true, what if this is his last chance of having a mate, and I wasted my feeling on someone who didn't want me. What should I do, should I be with him, maybe with time the feeling will come. I never knew something so trivial will affect an Alpha King.
