Callie was busy from the moment she stepped into the dining room. Maggie and her husband had followed Mark’s instructions and stayed home due to the weather. That had left Callie on her own as the hostess unless Mark jumped in to help. He had popped in long enough to speak with Rex and then hurried to keep his appointment with the resort salon. “Hey, Callie,” Rex said as he stepped up to stand beside her. “How are things going? Are there any problems?” “Everything is going well so far,” Callie said as the lights flicked in the dining room. “Or at least they were, until this place became a haunted house. I hate it when that happens.” “Yeah. One of the drawbacks to being in a more isolated and rural area, but in the long run, it's worth it. Anytime the weather picks up, the lights blink.
