Mark had been enjoying the afternoon. Most of the locals had left and were making their way down the mountain. Rosemary and John had stayed and had lunch with the family. Jimmy and Maddie’s engagement had surprised everyone, but they were all thrilled. Now, Rosemary sat with Callie, Maddie, and Kenny as they looked at different dresses and flower arrangements for their double wedding. Jimmy had gotten approval to take Maya with him as he checked ski slopes. Stan, Paula, and Jeff were still at the lodge and had agreed to play Scrabble with John until Rosemary was ready to leave for home.
Mark leaned over and kissed Callie’s temple, saying, “I’m going to my office for a bit. I need to go over a few things. Can you handle things here while I’m gone?”
