Mates

Jennifer was exhausted, and slept under the moon. She woke up and smiled as she realized that her new dress was still on her. She had seen many shifters destroy many outfits changing quickly. She couldn't remember, but she would have swore she turned into at least 4 different animals. She thought about where she was, and recognized the waterfall from when she came camping here as a child. She groaned as she realized she was now 50 miles from the nearest town. 'Wolf or bear would only take a couple hours.' a voice said in her mind. Jennifer had always heard that the Were Races actually had a voice in their head. She had always said it was an excuse to let them act like the wild animals they wished they could be still. She sighed as she realized it was actually true. 'Why do you hate me so much?' the voice asked her making her surprised. "I do not even know who the f**k you are, but you think I should be all giddy because some b***h Goddess thinks she has the right to meddle in my life?' Jennifer demanded. 'Let's get one thing straight, until last night I was Human! That was taken from me against my will, and now I either get to save the world or watch it burn? Kiss my ass if you think I would be happy about any of this bull s**t!" she yelled at the top of her lungs essentially to a tree. She heard a twig snap, and glared at the area as her senses flared and she could smell the Wolf standing there. She sniffed a little closer and sighed in disgust. "What the f**k do you want Prince?" she demanded looking right where he was concealed. He came walking out as a Human, wearing only a pair of shorts. "Sorry, I just wanted to know you were safe." he said as he came out with his arms stretched to the side. He stopped when she growled. "Let us get one thing straight little Prince, I DO NOT NEED YOUR PROTECTION!" she shouted at him. He nodded, and looked at her. "I never said you did, I said I wanted to know you were safe. It is not every day a Human shifts for the first time many years after shifters normally do. It is absolutely unheard of to watch said Human, shift into a Wolf, a fox, a bear, and a jaguar all in the same night. I was not concerned about your physical safety, I could feel your terror as soon as my eyes locked onto you." he said explaining. His words sunk in, as that was indeed the four animals she had thought she had changed into. "I do not know about you, but my Wolf would not shut up until I came to find you. But after what you just said, I will take my leave. When you are ready to reject me, you know where I will be." he said as she sighed again. "Wait." she said sitting down on the grass as he had been about to turn and leave. He really was attractive, and she knew it was probably the Mare bond, but she could not leave it like this. "I know you have probably lived your life waiting hoping to meet your Fated Mate, and I am sorry it was me. I however have not, and for the life of me cannot figure out what the hell she was thinking cursing me like this." she said as she picked some grass. He sat a few feet away from her, and listened to what she had to say. "I have actually, waited my entire life hoping I would find my Mate. But despite what you may think of me, I will never take your Freedom from you. Do I want to be with you, yes. Will I always try to be near you, yes. But I will not force myself upon you, and neither will my Wolf." Samuel said. Jennifer looked at him, and smiled. 'You gotta admit he is really attractive.' her Wolf said making her chuckle. "That is a good thing, because I am fairly sure I could kick your ass. Why would you want a Fated Mate?" she asked him. "What do you know of the Mate Bond?" he asked her. "First hand, nothing. Just the s**t you read in books." she said making him smile. She liked his smile as it lit up its face. "Before the first Great War, we did not have Fated Mates. We generally chose our mates, and it was good. The first Wolves who were bonded by the Fates either loved each other deeply, or hated each other the same. After the second, when we were nearly wiped from existence, Selene promised that if we followed the Mate Bond, our Races would become stronger. Only the strongest Wolves could be born of those Fated to be with each other. She also Promised those who found their Mates and loved each other, would be blessed beyond measure in this life, and the next. Now, they are not all perfect. That is why there are so many Humans who bash the bonds, because they experienced the betrayal of their mates, and the bond turned them into enemies." Samuel told her. "So what you are saying, is because we can choose, the ones who have been bitten by their mates have tarnished it?" she asked. "Yes, essentially. Many Humans think us to be able to always control the Animal within us, however it is not so easy sometimes. Many humans have felt betrayed by mates that suddenly sleep with an unmated wolf. However if they go into heat, the primal side of a Male Wolf only has one thing on its mind. Nowadays it does not happen as often, as the women are very careful. Is he technically at fault for the betrayal, yes. He may have done it, however control of your actions is not always the same for us." Jennifer thought about that for a moment before she was about to dismiss it. 'Just wait, you will experience it soon enough.' her new animal said making her sigh. "Do they always talk to you?" she asked him. "Sometimes it is hard to get them to shut up." he answered her. "I know what is happening is not what you want, and that I may not be who you want. Trust me, I totally understand your frustration. I likely will lose out on my best chance to continue strengthening the Royal Line and Pack. The first in 100 generations to not have their Mate stand beside them, and it was taken from me because she decided someone who hates mates should be mine. I have been relegated to history as the first Royal not to win over his Mate." he told her as he threw a rock at a tree and it made a c***k in the dead wood. She looked at him, surprised that he was mad as well. "You are right, it is not what I want. I will never pretend it was, I will probably curse that Goddess for the rest of my life for what she has done. But if I reject you, apparently we watch the world burn. There would be no history to remembered by, as their would not be any realms to remember." she told him as his mouth fell open. "Well we can face it together-" Samuel said before she shook her head. "We will not be alone, as you should know about the remainder of the curse. You are not my only mate?" she said as she couldn't believe she would say this. "But the first born Royal of this Gsneration as well. 3 Princes, and 3 other Princesses." she said the visions moving through her mind again. This news shocked him, and he looked at her. "Well, this should be a unique experience." he replied. "I think we need to have a party, invite them all." "Maybe not a bad idea, where at?" she asked him. "The only place we can all gather peacefully, here at the Palace." Samuel answered. "We need to tell my parents.
