Lyla's POV I spent the rest of the week avoiding Maxten as much as I could, which honestly was pretty easy since I was so busy putting the last of the touches on their gala or party or whatever you wanted to call it. It was now Saturday, and I was in the hall they rented at some fancy hotel making sure the decorating company was doing everything right. Maxten had come with me, saying I wasn't going anywhere alone, and Kenzley was running around the room playing with her stuffed cat. Her and I had several talks about staying the night with Ian's parents. She said it was fine, but it made me nervous. I didn't know these people. "Lyla," Maxten yelled across the ballroom and walked towards me in almost a run. "What?" "Here," he said, handing me a credit card. "What is this for?"
