Episode 2 The ceremony

ARIA'S

After a few hours of sleep, I saw everyone getting busy decorating the hall for my ceremony. It's overwhelming, yes, but I don't care. Uncle Brandon is okay with it and he is hoping for me to make Lily, her daughter, to be my Beta. I told him that her daughter is not ready yet so he remained to be the current Beta. His exact words after I told him not to retire "Cut me some slack Alpha, I need to retire before my Grandpups are born, give me time to unwind will you? It's unfair!" and gave me puppy eyes which are not effective to me because of his old features.

Yeah, it seems that it's unfair for him because my parents are gone now and they have a new Alpha. It is always a tradition to have a new Beta and Gamma when there is a new Alpha. I know Lily is strong but there is a feeling inside me that I should not make her or Frake my Beta. I just can't put my fingers on it.

"You're frowning." then a flick of fingers hit my forehead.

"Ouch! The heck is wrong with you?"

"You being weird," Lily said.

"Weird? Why?"

"Being an Alpha all of a sudden and not making me your Beta?" she nonchalantly said.

I looked around and saw that there are too many people there.

"Let's talk. Privately."

I walked and she just followed me. We went to the garden and sat on a nearby bench where I could see the hall.

"What do you want to talk about?" she asked.

"You not being my appointed Beta, for now." I said, "It's just that there is a feeling inside me that you or Frake are not supposed to be my Beta."

"So it is down to Imane, Hirochi, and Iris?"

"Still not sure about it. But it is just a feeling. I told your father to wait for our 18th birthday before I announce who will be my Beta and Gamma, who knows maybe your a bride to Beta or Gamma." I smirked.

"Or to a male Alpha." she giggled, "Come on don't think about it too much. You have a lot to think about Alpha, there is the pack, the rouges, the culprits on the attacks and most importantly finding your mate." She smiled.

Yeah, mate.

'Mate!' Ruby suddenly said and kept on running circles.

'Yeah we will find him after I turn 18' I said.

'I know right!' she agreed.

"You talking to your wolf?"

"Yes, she suddenly became excited when you said the word 'Mate'." we laughed.

We talked about a bunch of things reminiscing about the past because we know we won't be able to do this much after my ceremony. After an hour of talking, we decided to head back to the packhouse and get ready for the party.

LILY'S

It is a little sad for me that Aria didn't appoint me to be the new Beta but I trust her instinct and not argue about it. It's better to keep things in a natural flow. I even know on my own that I am not ready to be one or I will be ready on time. Being a Beta means supporting and helping the Alpha to manage the pack and I don't think I'm well suited for it.

When she said that I might be a bride to a Beta or Gamma I joke around about being a bride to a male Alpha. But in truth is I wanted to be her bride but I know she is straight. And two female wolves won't bear a child.

I have a huge crush on her ever since we were kids. Imane and Iris do have a crush on her too. The three of us are actually competing over her attention for the past years. But we all failed.

"Hey girl, I saw you talking to Alpha Aria."

"Yeah, we just talked about why she didn't appoint me to be her Beta for now and settled on the current. I'm still learning and she is waiting for all of us to turn 18 before she makes an announcement."

"Turn 18? Why?"

"She wanted to make sure we are all ready for the position and wanted to find a mate."

Imane made an 'O' shape with her lips. Suddenly I feel attracted to her. I shake my head to erase the feeling.

"You feeling okay?"

"Yeah, I will just be in my room and get ready for the ceremony, you must go too and take a bath too guys reek of mud."

"Yeah, Iris suddenly got an idea and tackled me on the pig's pen before I could dodge."

"Tell me you didn't do any woodworks."

"We did! We broke the pen and scared the pigs out! I am so not going to go patrolling with her again! See you later!" She strode off to her room a little mad remembering what Iris did.

Old times. Old times.

I continue walking to my room and locked it. My mind suddenly went wandering from Imane's lips to Aria's.

"I really need water therapy now."

I quickly strip off my clothes and went to take a shower. It will be a long night I guess?

THIRD PERSON'S

[3 hours before Imane went back to the packhouse]

Along the shore near the packhouse, a beautiful maiden is lost. She was a petite lady who got washed away, clothes rip in every side and cut showing all her struggles to escape something brutal.

Loud footsteps are heard from the forest near her.

"Help," she lowly said, big paws of two dogs were to be seen before she passed out.

"You think she is okay? Should we help her?" asked the guy with a blue tint on his hair.

"She is a beauty, I think we should? She smells like us and not a rouge. This is the one we smelled." said the other one who has brunette hair.

"Okay, we should report this to Aria."

"That could wait, we need her to focus on her ceremony, we don't want any trouble for now."

The guy carried the girl they saw. Usually, they don't pass by the shoreline even though it was part of the territory, but they decided to take a stroll and patrol.
