Late autumn.
Dry golden leaves fell on broad shoulders.
Richard Nicholas stood under the tree, facing the Faculty Office of Dream Technology.
"Brother, they tried to harm me. I couldn’t survive. I’m getting older."
Two months earlier, in the capital of Dream Science and Technology, during an unresolvable incident, President Andrew Nicholas was left with a massive debt of US$1.2 billion, forced to mortgage the company Sky Peak to Brian Arthur.
"Brother, I’m sorry, I have to go first..."
At midnight in the twelfth district, Andrew Nicholas jumped off the roof and died instantly.
He was a handsome, talented man, famous in business circles, yet he said goodbye to the world like that.
Why? Was it because he had a target on his back? There was a problem with this—it was like a battlefield, and Andrew Nicholas had become the object of a pitiful sacrifice.
In the middle of the cold night, Richard Nicholas took a deep breath, lifted his head, and looked up at the starry sky.
"Andrew, I’m sorry, I’m late. Don’t worry—whoever harmed you, I’ll make them pay and bury them with you."
For the past five years, Richard Nicholas had been in the Rocky Mountains, serving in the army.
From a small soldier, he bravely fought and earned the title God of Victory Harvey, the “Fisherman,” winning many battles with admiration and respect.
Now, he was back.
On a dark night, a shadow came out from the darkness. The man gave Richard Nicholas a small light-blue notebook.
That man was Vincent Scott, a brother who had fought alongside Richard Nicholas on the battlefield.
"Mr. Richard, it’s the Edward family. You don’t have to do it yourself. If Mr. Richard gives the order, I assure you, Sky Peak Company and Brian Arthur’s people will all disappear from this world within three days."
Richard Nicholas gently shook his head. "Some things must be done by oneself. I’ll handle it."
"I understand. Yes." Vincent Scott bowed his head quietly, then left quickly. Like the wind, he left no trace.
Richard Nicholas straightened his clothes and headed to the Faculty Office of Dream Technology not far away.
When he was about to enter the door, a thin older man, carrying a cloth bag with bent back, slowly walked forward, not noticing the way, and bumped into Richard Nicholas.
"Excuse me."
The old man raised his head and recognized Richard Nicholas immediately. His eyes turned red and wet. "Master, have you returned?"
"That’s right, Dennis, I’m back."
It was Brian Dennis, a veteran technology officer of Dream Science and Technology, who had watched the Nicholas brothers grow up since childhood. For Richard Nicholas, he was not only a member of the company but also like family.
Brian Dennis looked at Richard Nicholas for a while, then turned his head toward the company headquarters, his eyes showing disappointment. "Sorry, you’re late."
Right then, a young man with red hair and a cigarette in his mouth walked over.
"Old man, hey, what are you standing there for? Don’t you hear me? You’re not leaving? Want me to call someone to hit you?"
Brian Dennis repeatedly nodded. "Yes, yes, I’m leaving now, I’m leaving now."
His heart was pounding in fear, his arms trembled, the cloth bag slipped to the ground, and the contents spilled all around.
"Damn it! You old bastard, you dirty my turf?"
The red-haired youth quickly walked forward and kicked Brian Dennis in the stomach.
With a loud bang, Brian Dennis was still standing safe and sound, while the red-haired youth lay flat on the ground five meters away.
Richard Nicholas was standing in front of Brian Dennis. The red-haired youth shouted:
"You… you… do you know who I am?"
Richard Nicholas glanced at the young man’s red hair, walked up, stepped on his face, and said, "Who are you?"
Brian Dennis, even more frightened, quickly stepped forward to stop Richard Nicholas. "Master, don’t get too excited. He’s Eric Edward, the nephew of President Brian Arthur. We can’t provoke him. Let’s go."
"Want to go?"
Eric Edward got up, shook off his sleeve, waved his arms, and immediately several bodyguards rushed out, surrounding the two.
"You think you can leave so easily?"
Brian Dennis was so frightened that his hands and feet trembled. He hurriedly said, "Eric Edward, I’m sorry, he just got back, so he doesn’t understand. He didn’t mean it. I apologize on his behalf."
"Apologize? For what?"
Eric Edward walked up and slapped Brian Dennis in the face. "If apologizing worked, why would we have police?"
"This man and that old man—beat them to death. I’ll take responsibility for the consequences."
"Go!"
A few bodyguards with batons rushed in, and Brian Dennis was so scared that tears streamed down his face. "You’ve caused a terrible thing. Who else can you blame?"
Richard Nicholas shook his head softly and stepped forward, blocking Brian Dennis behind him.
For a God of Victory Harvey, with years of battlefield experience, what were these small-time guards worth?
When the security guards were about to rush in, they suddenly saw a silver car stopping in front of Dream Company.
The car door opened, and a man in a suit stepped out.
This man was the new president of Dream Science and Technology, Brian Arthur.
"What’s going on?"
When the guards saw Brian Arthur, they immediately froze.
Eric Edward approached and said, "Uncle, there’s a problem. We were just teaching them a lesson."
"Huh? Who’s so bold?"
Brian Arthur glanced forward and said, "Oh, isn’t this Richard Nicholas? I heard you went to the army five years ago and then went missing. Why have you suddenly returned like this?"
Looking at Eric Edward, he said, "This is the brother of the former president of Dream."
In Eric Edward’s heart, the last chairman, Andrew Nicholas, was just a scoundrel with $1.2 billion in debt who killed himself. How much better could his brother be?
Brian Arthur laughed and said, "We’re all acquaintances here, just a misunderstanding. Come on, come in and have a drink and talk."
He pulled Richard Nicholas toward the living room.
Eric Edward gave a cold smile and followed closely behind.
Brian Dennis looked anxiously at the shadow of Richard Nicholas inside, but unfortunately, there was nothing he could do. He understood who Brian Arthur was and knew that inviting Richard Nicholas inside was not with good intentions.
"Master, you have to be careful, don’t let yourself get unlucky!"
Inside the company, Richard Nicholas followed Brian Arthur to the living room.
Today was the company’s annual meeting. All the staff were dressed up for the conference—everyone was beautiful, with gold jewelry on them, looking like high-class people.
Andrew Nicholas had died less than a month ago, yet they had forgotten so quickly, living their lives so happily and contentedly.
Brian Arthur took Richard Nicholas to the stage, clapped to get everyone’s attention, and smiled. "Guys, if you’ll excuse me for a minute, I’d like to introduce you to someone special. This man is Richard Nicholas, the brother of the debt-ridden chairman Andrew Nicholas, who sadly jumped to his death."
Everybody in the audience turned to look at Richard Nicholas.
Eric Edward was the most gleeful, even initiating applause.
Brian Arthur raised his head and looked at Richard Nicholas with contemptuous eyes.
He loved this sense of humiliation.
However, Richard Nicholas’s face had not changed at all.
Brian Arthur misunderstood, thinking Richard Nicholas was so intimidated that he dared not say anything to provoke him. "Sorry, I’m a straightforward person. If I hurt your weak self-esteem, I’m embarrassed. I know exactly why you’re here today. You want to use your dead brother to ask me for money? I’ve seen plenty like you."
Brian Arthur shrugged. "It’s not like I can’t give you money. Just stand in front of everyone and say four words: ‘I deserve to die.’ I’ll immediately give you five thousand dollars, okay?"
Shame—naked shame!
The people in the audience burst into laughter, even spitting out their drinks.
But even under such humiliation, Richard Nicholas showed no indignation.
Brian Arthur felt slightly uncomfortable because he couldn’t read Richard Nicholas.
After everyone had finished laughing, Richard Nicholas walked to the microphone.
"Now, it’s my turn to speak."
His tone was so calm, his low voice carried no anger yet had a majesty that made those laughing immediately fall silent. They couldn’t help but look at him.
"I’m here today to tell you something—every man here will have to kneel before my brother’s grave for the next seven days. You have five hours to redeem yourselves."
"What?"
The crowd erupted in murmurs.
"This guy—what is he talking about?"
"Kneel for that piece of trash? Does he deserve it?"
"You psycho! Are you serious?"
Richard Nicholas ignored the voices from the audience and pulled out a little blue notebook. "If you don’t, your name will be written here."
"Haha!"
Laughter filled the hall.
"Black notebook? Wow, I’m so scared."
"Why not put us on your w******p blocklist? Haha."
"That’s right—trash has a trash brother."
Nobody took Richard Nicholas’s threat seriously—they all thought he was a joke.
But anyone who knew his past understood—when a man’s name was in Richard Nicholas’s black book, he should prepare his coffin.
Richard Nicholas put the blue notebook away.
"Remember, the wicked have only seven days."
He finished speaking, stepped down from the stage, and walked toward the door.
"Stand still. Did I let you go?"
Brian Arthur said coldly, and the guards immediately blocked the exit.
Brian Arthur sneered. "Do you think my place is one you can just come and go from? Richard Nicholas, I’ll give you a chance—kneel today, admit your fault to me, and I’ll allow you to step out of this door."
Eric Edward stormed in with a bunch of guards, all carrying electric batons.
"Kneel! Apologize and crawl out like a dog right now!"
The staff of Dream Science and Technology screamed in excitement, hoping to see Richard Nicholas humiliated.
Eric Edward pointed the baton at him. "Come on!"
Richard Nicholas remained calm, his expression unwavering.
The chaos outside did not affect him in the slightest. His mood seemed permanently undisturbed.
Brian Arthur couldn’t help but say, "Some people don’t understand unless they’re taught. Make him kneel!"
"Yes!"
