GROWING DISTANCE AND CONFRONTATION.

313 Words
Part 3: Growing Distance Meera tried to push away the bitterness, convincing herself that she was overthinking. But jealousy crept in like a slow poison. She missed her friend, missed their easy laughter and late-night chats. Most of all, she missed being Aarohi's first choice. The distance grew, invisible yet heavy. Little disagreements turned into arguments. A forgotten text, a missed call, or an unanswered message would spark a fight. Aarohi, on the other hand, felt torn. She didn't understand why Meera was acting cold and distant. To her, friendship wasn't about possession—it was about freedom, about understanding each other even when their paths diverged a little. --- Part 4: The Confrontation One evening, it all came crashing down. They were sitting in their favorite café, the silence between them thicker than the coffee they sipped. Meera couldn't hold it in any longer. "You've changed," she said, her voice low but firm. Aarohi frowned. "What do you mean?" "You don't have time for me anymore. It's always Tara this, Tara that. It's like... it's like I don't even exist." Aarohi blinked, taken aback. "That's not true, Meera. Just because I've made a new friend doesn't mean I've forgotten you." "But it feels like it," Meera snapped, her eyes burning with unshed tears. "You don't see it, but I do. You're slipping away." The words hung in the air, heavy and sharp. Aarohi's face hardened. "Maybe you're just being insecure. I thought you'd understand. I thought you'd be happy that I'm meeting new people." Meera laughed bitterly. "Happy? How can I be happy when I feel like I'm losing my best friend?" Their argument escalated, words flying like arrows, each one hitting deeper than the last. By the end of it, they sat in silence, a chasm wider than ever between them. When they left the café, they walked in opposite directions.
