Chapter 3

1836 Words
Olivia My biological clock woke me on time and I stretched. A deep ache came from within me. Then, everything that had happened came back. I found out my fiancee was cheating on me with my my twin sister. My twin sister was pregnant. I got a rejection and I had a one night stand. I took a look at the man beside me. A few scars was on his bronze skin. Werewolves heal quickly so his scars said a lot about him. The bedsheets covered his privates and it hid half of his face too. I didn't bother to look closer. I knew he was handsome but whatever we had must stop here. Right now, a relationship wasn't my next step. The intense anger I felt yesterday had gone with the passionate night I spent with this man. I felt refreshed. I got out of bed slowly and I wore my clothes. I did not want to wake the stranger up. I wasn't ready to speak to him. I looked around. Some of the room's decor was similar to the ones in the club. I knew I was still somewhere in the club. I exited the room with my phone. There wasn't anybody in the passageway leading to the room I came from. I got to the main club and I joined the crowd. I fought my way through the writhing bodies till I got to the entrance. I walked out of the club. The moment I left, a call came in. It was Kyle. I debated with myself for a minute before I connected the call. I wanted to hear what he would say. Now, I was numb and tired. Orla could have him. I did not want that kind of trash anyway. I should be thankful that my twin sister took him off my hands. I shouldn't focus on how painful it was. As I recalled what had occured previously, I wasn't as furious as I was yesterday. Something about the stranger I slept with was calming. "Olivia, where did you go?" He asked in a panic. One part of me was happy and one part was nonchalant. I killed the happiness immediately. It was high time I stopped letting Kyle have power over my emotions. "Where I go is none of your concern, Kyle." I replied as I sneered. He paused, "You are an adult, I can not dictate what you can and can not do. I am calling because your mother collapsed. She is currently undergoing surgery and I want you to be at the hospital." My heart began to beat fast. What my family did yesterday hurt me but my mother would always be my parent. I can not disregard her. She was a beta. The reason for her collapse had to be pretty serious. "Where is the hospital's location? I will be there in a minute." I said as I walked away from the club. "Healing Hands Private Hospital." Kyle replied. "That is not the normal hospital my mother goes to." I noticed the abnormality and voiced out. "Orla boasted about the Healing Hands Private Hospital to her so your mother insisted on getting treated here. You know how your mother gets when it is something related to your sister." Kyle explained. I believed his words. My mother would do absolutely anything for Orla. It wasn't an exaggeration. I ended the call and I booked a taxi quickly. A few minutes later, the taxi I booked came. I entered the car and told the driver the directions. "Please be as fast as you can while driving within the safety limit. It is an emergency." I told the driver and he increased his pace. It didn't take too long to get to the car private hospital. I paid the transportation fee and walked into the hospital. Kyle was waiting beside the receptionist. His face brightened when he saw me. "You are here." He said before leading me upstairs. "Is the surgery done?" I asked. Kyle brought me to the waiting room upstairs. Orla was sitting on one of the chairs. I didn't see my dad and brother. "Are you looking for father and Martin?" Orla asked when she caught me observing the place. I nodded, "Yes. Where are they?" "They went to freshen up at home. They have been at this place since mom was admitted." Orla sighed. I joined her in sitting. There was a few chairs between us though. Somehow, the things that happened yesterday wasn't something I could get past. My position in my family was shown to me in a very clear way. The emotions boiling within me was a complicated mess. I would be lying if I said it didn't hurt. Orla glanced at the chairs separating us before her gaze settled on my face. "Are you still angry about what happened yesterday?" She asked with an aggrieved tone, "I explained everything to you before. I don't really know how it happened, it just did. Sister, I really want your blessings. Don't be mad at me." "I don't want to talk about it." I said curtly. I wanted my tone to sound gentle but I failed. If it wasn't because of my mother, I would not even be here. "You haven't forgiven me yet. I will wait till you do." Orla muttered. Kyle walked towards us with two bottles of water. The bottle he gave to Orla was already opened. I opened my bottle. The satisfying click that came from opening a new bottle accompanied my action. I was a little thirsty. I don't know if it was because of my rush. I downed half of the bottle in an instant. My tongue darted out of my mouth to lick any residual drops of water on my lips. The cool water traveled to my stomach and I let out a sigh of comfort. I opened my mouth to ask more about my mother's collapse. Suddenly, I found out that I could not move my tongue and lips. Everything I could lay my eyes on began to double and swirl. What's happening? My fingers relaxed against my will and the bottle of water fell down to the floor. Some of the water in the bottle spilled on me. "Finally!" Orla's voice said with relief, "She was taking forever." What did she mean? I wasn't stupid. Then, it dawned on me. Orla and Kyle put something in my water. The truck they used was beyond me. I had clearly heard the click that came with opening a brand new bottle of water. I don't know why they would even do such a thing. I was a bit disconnected from reality. I felt hands holding me up before laying me on a flat surface. The place they put me was moving and the sound of footsteps accompanied me. An abrupt creak from a door closing jerked my waning consciousness back. "Orla, we should let her go. Maybe there is another way out of your predicament." Kyle's voice came. It was like I was underwater. The sound was muffled but I could get what he was saying. "Stop it Kyle! You claim to love me but you can not cooperate with me on this little thing. There is no other way! If we let her go today, the heart would be gone. She would stay away. Do you want me to die? Babe, is this everything your love amounts to?" Orla's teary voice came from a place close to me. It was like we were lying on the same bed. I wasn't really sure. My perception might be playing a trick on me. "Orla, I ju—" Kyle began but my sister interrupted him. "I need her heart, Kyle. She would not give it to me on her own accord, I have to take it myself. If I don't do this, I'll die! I have no other choice. I don't know if I can wait around till I find another suitable heart." Orla said. Fury burned through my veins. It was very obvious. My mother's collapse was a sham story used to lure me here. I couldn't believe it. Orla had always taken everything from me since the beginning. I thought Kyle was the only thing her hands didn't reach but I was wrong. She stole my parents' affection, my fiancé and now, she is after my life. There was nothing she didn't want. How could she be so selfish? Why was the moon goddess so unfair to me? I had done nothing wrong! It felt like my crime was being born. "Okay, okay. Don't cry. Take her heart. You are just putting her out of her misery anyways. She had been living an hard life, she deserves this release." Kyle consoled Orla in a soft tone. My eyes moved under my eyelids but I couldn't open them. The nerves Kyle and Orla had was too big! A crime like stealing a heart was rebranded to be an act of kindness. This sense if entitlement was astounding. Orla was depriving me of my chance to life but in Kyle words, I should be thankful. Ah! I hate Orla, Kyle and my parents. I wanted revenge. Alas, a mortal only lives once. A tear slipped out of my closed eyes. "Mr Kyle, please leave. The operation is about to start." A new female voice said. She should be the doctor. "Okay." Kyle said. His footsteps faded away before the sound of a door closing drilled into my ears. I could feel hands on my skin. I didn't feel pain but I knew what the doctor was doing. A hand streched into the open cavity of my chest. Right then, my consciousness blacked out. I was unwilling! My life had just been one big bundle of bad luck. I was expecting the chilly embrace of death or a queue to my judgement trial. None of that happened. I was still in a space filled with darkness. I could move and think. I could not see my body though. I did not hear any voices. Everything was silent. A spark of bright light appeared before me. I don't know how much time had passed but I didn't want to remain in that darkness anymore. I rushed towards the light with all my might. My eyes shut themselves automatically as I went closer to the blinding light. Finally, the influence of the light weakened and my eyes fluttered open. Surprise coated my eyes. I wasn't at the hospital. I remembered where I was. It was the bedroom I spent a passionate night in. The theme of the room was matching with the colors at the club. I had gone back in time. My hands clenched into fists and my eyes glinted with a cold light. Kyle and Orla came to mind. My wish for a chance to redo everything came to pass. I was back. As going to make every moment count!
